Her Precious Baby

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Early the next morning, Angeline was awakened by the ringing of her phone.

The person who called was her manager and best friend, Nancy Yandell. “You’re actually the younger daughter of Sorelle Group, Angeline?”

Angeline vaguely grunted in affirmation. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

On the other end of the phone, Nancy exclaimed, “Oh my God! Why have you never told me about that? Have you gone on Twitter today? You’re now on the trending list!”

Angeline only made Nancy’s acquaintance after she left the Sorelle family. At that time, the latter was merely an insignificant assistant.

Upon hearing that, Angeline didn’t seem all that surprised. Instead, it was as though she had expected it.

Wilfred’s birthday banquet was supposed to be a closed-door event with tight security. If there weren’t any deliberate arrangements, not a hint of a rumor would have leaked out.

She opened her eyes and muttered, “I’ll go and take a look at it. I’ll be hanging up, then.”

After hanging up the phone, she rolled over and started scrolling through Twitter on her phone.

Sure enough, she was at the top of the trending list again.

The search terms read: Shocking news! Angeline Sorelle’s true identity is heiress to the Sorelle Group!

Ms. Joseline threw her weight around and slapped her own sister in public!

There’s seemingly something more to Ms. Angeline’s pregnancy out of wedlock leading to her parents’ death than meets the eye. Otherwise, why would she fearlessly turn up at Old Mr. Sorelle’s birthday

banquet?

As expected, the comments varied. But at the very least, it was no longer the same as five years ago when everyone bashed and mocked her.

Flipping her phone closed, Angeline changed into a casual T-shirt and a short skirt that bared her long and slender legs.

When she applied makeup before the mirror, she couldn’t help brushing her fingers over the palm print left by Joseline yesterday. Then, she concealed it with foundation.

Well, this slap paid off! Next, I’ve got something even more important to do.

A few days later, Financial Daily revealed that Angeline held shares in the Sorelle Group.

On the heels of that, Entertainment Weekly divulged that the Sorelle sisters had been at odds since they were young.

In the blink of an eye, the Sorelle family became the talk of the town because of Angeline.

Meanwhile, Sorelle Group’s stock prices which had always been stable, also became turbulent. The negative press ultimately affected Sorelle Group’s upcoming round of financing.

After receiving news of investors withdrawing their financing, Joseline finally snapped. She furiously ordered her secretary to obtain Angeline’s contact and rang the latter up.

Angeline, who had just finished shooting a magazine cover, unhurriedly swiped a finger across her phone screen and answered the call.

Before she could utter a single word, Joseline’s tempered voice rang out from the other end of the phone. “Where are you, Angeline? Let’s meet up.”

Angeline took off the mink coat supplied by the brand company and handed it to her assistant. Smiling, she agreed, answering, “Sure.”

Subsequently, she took a taxi to Hallsbay International Hotel. When she arrived at the hotel and located Joseline, she sauntered over.

Joseline placed her Chanel bag on the table and shot her a glare. With a dark expression, she demanded, “The news out there was your doing, no?”

“Yes, it was my doing.”

Smirking, Angeline swept her gaze over the bag on the table nonchalantly and admitted to it openly. Then, she drawled, “But it’s already been about half a month, yet you’re only now seeking me out. Isn’t it a bit too late?”

At her easy admission, Joseline felt as though she had braced herself for nothing. She seethed inwardly. “Have you lost your mind? What good will it do you if the Sorelle family collapses? Or are Mom and Dad’s shares more important than the entire Sorelle Group? Do you know that Grandpa’s myocarditis recurred because of you, and he almost died?”

Throughout it all, Angeline remained smiling. Taking a sip of coffee, she changed the subject. “Joseline, this is where you brought me to celebrate my birthday back then. Look, it hasn’t changed at all, has it?”

To Angeline, her eighteenth birthday was one she would never forget.

Joseline was stunned, never having expected her to change the subject suddenly. She reflexively glanced around at the luxurious décor. Something occurred to her out of the blue, and she swung her gaze at Angeline.

Could it be that she had learned the truth of the matter? No, that’s impossible! It has been a long time, and there’s no evidence anymore. Why would she suspect me?
