Chapter 162 Penny Came to the Suburbs
Chapter 162 Penny Came to the Suburbs
Richard seemed to have sensed the breath of death and become anxious. He continued to loudly
accuse Penny.
"Didn't you know it will make the Bennet family even angrier? Even Rufus came here personally, do
you think the Bennet family will spare you?"
He knew Rufus that he never did things he was not sure of. Now that he came personally, it was
basically impossible that Penny could continue to stay in the Bennet family.
"I did not expect that. Dad, I know I'm wrong. Do something about it or my plan will be ruined."
Penny took the arm of Richard to implore, at the moment she also felt the arrival of the crisis. She was
scared. She was really scared. She was really wrong.
"Not only is your plan ruined, but you could spend years in prison for child abuse."
Richard couldn't think of a way to do at this moment. His biggest concern now was not about Penny,
but whether his company would be implicated.
Since Rufus knew it, Felix would know it, and so would Brian. They knew about it, but they didn't come
until now. Wasn’t the intention obvious? Had he become a thorn in the Bennet family, or had Penny
done something even more outrageous to annoy them?
Rufus walked out of the Burns Group and commanded Paul in a sharp tone.
"Keep an eye on Penny and keep her from getting away."
"Got it. I'll call and arrange it."
Winnie cried alone at home for a long time before she calmed down. Tired of crying, she lay down in
bed and fell asleep.
When she woke up, she found it was time to pick up the kids.
"Leo, can I borrow your car?"
Winnie called Leo. Now she dared not take a taxi, or asked Brian to help. She was sure if she could
buy a car, so she thought of Leo.
"No problem, I'll bring it to you."
Leo was happy that he could help Winnie.
About twenty minutes later, Leo knocked on Winnie's door.
"I'm sorry to bother you."
Winnie invited Leo in.
"I have an excuse to come out for a rest. You're helping me, so don’t worry about it."
"Here are the car keys."
Leo said and handed the car keys to Winnie.
"Winwin, have you recovered from your wound? If you can't drive, I can be your driver."
Leo said gently.
"I can't bother you all the time. Don’t worry, I am fine. I can drive."
Winnie refused Leo.
"Well, ok. If you can’t drive, I'll be your driver."
Leo never forced her and would not make Winnie feel embarrassed. Now that she could drive, he
would let her try.
"Winwin, is there something wrong with you and Mr. Bennet?"
Leo's expression became serious.
On the way to Winnie's house, Leo had been thinking about it. Winnie needed a car, she should find
Brian. Brian had many cars and they were all better than his.
Winnie chose him, something must have happened.
Winnie's face darkened. When she heard the name of Brian, her heart would in pain.
"It's nothing serious, but I don't want to trouble him. Leo, you know me, no matter who has no
obligation to be good to me, I do not want to ask them for help. I would think twice before I borrowed
your car."
"There is nothing between me and Brian. It's just my wishful thinking. So I don't want to bother him
about anything. I feel more comfortable with your car since we are friends."
This was the first time Winnie talked much about Brian, but also the saddest one.
They had less than two months left before it was all over, and they might not even have a chance to
see each other, let alone borrow his car.
Winnie felt that there were only two people in this world who were obligated to be good to you - father
and mother, but unfortunately both of them had left her.
So she was not qualified to ask for anything from others, including Brian.
"Winwin, none of this matters to me. I just want to tell you that I will always stand behind you, as long
as you encounter difficulties, you can come to me. I will help you unconditionally or let you feel the
burden." NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Leo hoped that Winnie and Brian separate and that Winnie could be back to him.
Even if he it was impossible to achieve, he wanted to protect Winnie.
"Thank you. Don’t worry, I will ask you for help when I need help."
Winnie gently said. Although Leo was not her husband, it would be good to have such a good friend.
"Leo, it is time to pick up the children. I need to go downstairs, let us talk later."
Winnie looked at her mobile phone and found here was no time for chatting.
"Well, we go downstairs together and you pick up the kids."
They went downstairs together to the parking space. Leo said to her.
"Winwin, remember, no matter what happens, tell me. I will be on your back. "
"Ok, don't worry."
Winnie nodded and drove to the kindergarten.
For Winnie, no matter what happened, she had to fact it. When she could not support herself, she
would ask for help. But she would not ask help from Brian, because she did not want to be looked
down upon by him.
Winnie spent a few days quietly, but Brian did not come back these days. She heard that he was on a
business trip.
Winnie was almost recovered except that she was weak and her face had returned to normal. She was
still in good condition except that her mood was still depressed.
She was a person who could never be idle. When her wounds were just recovered, she started to work.
She was no longer concerned about the company's affairs, only waiting for Brian to call her to hand
over the work.
Now she was busy working on her latest software because life had to go on, because it needed a lot of
money to survive.
When Winnie was busy in the studio, there was a knock on the door.
"Who is it?”
Winnie asked while vigilantly turned off the computer, after all, the things in her computer could not be
revealed.
"Winwin, there's a woman outside looking for Mr. Bennet. I don't know her. Come and see."
The speaker was Paul's wife, who had been working at Rufus' house.
"Coming."
Winnie turned off the computer and came to the living room on the first floor. When she saw Penny, she
was surprised. And Penny did not expect Winnie would be here.
"What are you doing here?”
Penny asked in surprise.
"Nobody took care of me, so I came here. So you don't come for me. Just wait a minute."
Winnie answered and then said to Paul’s wife.
"Raya, this is Brian's wife. She should come for Rufus. Tell her to wait here."
Winnie was not the owner here. Although she did not like Penny, she had no right to drive Penny away.
"Oh, so it's Mrs. Bennet. I've never seen her before."
Raya said in embarrassment, but she only said to Winnie.
"I'll go upstairs."
Winnie said and was to leave. Penny called her.
"Wait, Winnie, I think we should have a talk."
From the conversation between Winnie and the butler, Penny knew that the person she was looking for
should not be at home. Since she met Winnie, she would not miss this opportunity.
"Is there anything to talk about?"
Winnie slowly turned back and asked in a low voice.
"Yes, we should have a talk."
They came to the outside pavilion. Raya was not there and Penny’s face became sinister. She fixed her
eyes on Winnie.
"Winnie, did you tell Dad that I mistreated Luke? Did you tell Brian?"
Remembering the slaps she had received that day, Penny's hatred was as thick as a dark cloud. If this
were not Rufus's place, she would have liked to slap Winnie in the face and let her know what it was
like.
Winnie was surprised for a moment, and then calmed down.
So Rufus must have found Penney and talked her about it. So was she to explain or apologize?
"Do you finally admit that you mistreated Luke?"
Winnie asked with disdain.
"You......That's what you said. You must be making a rumor. Winnie, you will be punished, since you did
bad things."
Penny suddenly realized that although she and Winnie were aware of it but never put it out. If she said
it, it was equal to admit the fact that she mistreated Luke.
Now Penny felt powerless facing Winnie, for fear that she would say something wrong.
"Hum..."
Winnie snorted with disdain.
"Are you speaking of yourself? Am I making a rumor? You think I don't have proof because you
destroyed my phone and my computer? You studied law and I'm licensed. You think I would lose an
important piece of evidence?"
"Do not think that what you do is unknown. Maybe you have made yourself a trap. I have nothing to say
to you now. For the sake of being a former classmate, I advise to stop now."
Winnie knew everything but said nothing, and her kindness won out in the end. All things were about to
reach the end, she hoped that Penny could turn herself in to strive for leniency, and not get herself on
the desperate.
"Winnie, come on. Just tell me if Brian knows it. Did you say that to him?"
Penny was confused by Winnie's words. She could not calm down to analyze Winnie's words. She now
just wanted to know who knows that, so that she could find countermeasure.
