Chapter 491
"Do you really need a rabies shot? I should be the one getting it." Casper winced in pain but reached out to grab her wrist again. "You're a mom now, can you stop being so stubborn, please?" "Let go of me." Her voice was icy, her face etched with disdain as she glared at him. "If you're really a man, stop fussing over everything."
Casper was lost for words. He genuinely had no idea how to handle Eliza. When she was in a bad mood, he was completely out of his depth.
"Eliza, we've known each other for years now," he said suddenly, his tone heavy, his deep gaze filled with sincerity and caution. "We've been through a lot together, haven't we?"
Eliza's brows furrowed slightly. She had no clue what he was trying to say.
The man took a deep breath, his voice softening. "Even if I've wronged you in the past, I've been seriously trying to change. I know I don't deserve your full trust, but... can't you give me even just a fraction of a percent, just a little bit?" Eliza remained silent. She did have her opinions about him not acknowledging Brock. But was it her fault that he always did things that she couldn't understand?
"What are you trying to say?"
"What I'm trying to say is, I never didn't want to acknowledge Brock. I never despised this child. Your thoughts aren't the same as mine. If you really think I don't want this child, I can show you the plans I've made for his future."
Casper had made plans for Brock's future? But could planning and acknowledgment be considered the same? Does a teacher not make plans for their students? Can those even be compared? He really loved playing the part of the deeply emotional lover.
"Casper, I've raised Brock this far
without you. Whether you care or not, I don't mind anymore." She didn't want to argue about this
anymore; she was truly exhaust net
"The child is still young. He
can find
another father figure. He doesn't
need any 'plans' from you,
Casper looked at the beautiful face of the woman in front of him, filled with helplessness. He couldn't fight, he dared not scold, and when he tried to reason, she wouldn't listen. He felt utterly powerless.
Taking a deep breath, he let go of her hand. "Do you really need to misunderstand me like this? If Brock likes me, doesn't that mean everything? If I didn't like him, didn't love him, I..."
"Casper." Eliza cut him off impatiently before he could finish. "I don't want to hear it anymore."
She didn't want to hear his excuses anymore. Without his name on the birth certificate, all talk of love and plans was empty. Just like a mistress who could never enter the family officially. Talking about love without giving a title was no different from playing games. She was foolish to have expected
anything from Casper. In the end, he
despised her child.
Eliza returned to Oak Falls. She blocked Casper's number and deleted all his contact information. Kind colleagues tried to set her up with new men, and from her previous refusals, she had now become open to the idea.
During lunch, her colleague Autumn
approached Eliza with a photo.
"Eliza, take a look at this guy. He's in great shape. Used to be the CEO of a public company, and now he's started his own business. He's a decent-sized boss, and most
importantly, he's single. A rare find."
Single? People were very realistic these days. Why would a single man be interested in someone like her, divorced and with a child?
"Autumn, I don't think I'm good enough," Eliza tried to refuse, but Autumn quickly said, "I've shown him your photo, and I swear his eyes popped. With your beauty, what does being divorced or having a child matter? He doesn't mind."
Whether he truly didn't mind or not, Eliza couldn't tell. She lowered her eyes to the photo of the man, who looked to be in his thirties, refined and pleasant enough not to be off-putting.All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
