Chapter 680
Caleb took a blood sample and used his portable device to quickly figure out the type of infection. After giving Eliza a shot and setting up an IV, his job was pretty much done.
"Hey, bro, your wife just has a regular cold. No need to stress; she'll be fine in three days," Caleb reassured with a nod.
Casper nodded back, serious, "Understood."
"I'm heading out then. If she feels any worse, just give me a shout or come straight to the hospital. But really, there's nothing to worry about."
Once Caleb left, Casper stayed with Eliza in the bedroom. He didn't say much, just kept her company quietly. Every few minutes, he'd check her temperature, touch her hands, and her feet, making sure her fever was going down. Only then could he relax.
Eliza slept soundly, and when she woke, she felt much better. Even her throat didn't hurt as much.
Marian brought up dinner, "Ma'am, the Mister said he'll be up soon to help you eat, so hang tight."
Eliza thought, ...Help her eat? That seemed a bit much.noveldrama
Just as she was about to politely refuse, Casper came in. He'd changed into a crisp white shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbows. In his slender hands was a glass of warm water and a few white pills.
"Eat first, then take your meds," he instructed, setting the water and pills aside.
As Marian had hinted, he intended to feed her himself. Eliza felt a bit awkward; she wasn't that sick. "I can manage on my own, you don't need to feed me."
"Are you sure?" He looked at her, uncertain.
Eliza nodded, "Yes, I'm sure."
Her appetite was decent; she drank most of her milk and had some of the creamy soup. After taking her medicine, she grabbed her phone to handle some work stuff.
Her phone was buzzing with messages, some from her college roommates about a class reunion. She hadn't been around much during college, but her roommates were nice and they'd never had issues. Especially Renee, her closest friend, who was spearheading this reunion.
"Don't rush into work just yet," Casper said, gently taking her phone away as he noticed her getting sucked into it. "Rest is the priority right now."
"It's not all work," Eliza sighed lightly, "Do you remember Renee?"
Casper had a sharp memory, "Daniel's wife, right?"
"Yes, she's the one organizing the reunion."
"She's still up for reunions?" Casper shook his head, implying there was more to the story.
Eliza was curious, "What's up with her?"
"Daniel's been involved with an actress for a few years now. Heard she's got him wrapped around her finger, even considering divorce."
Eliza was taken aback. Divorce? Wasn't Daniel always head over heels for Renee? How could things change so fast?
"That guy, not exactly a spring chicken or a looker. What does he have besides some cash? Renee's young, beautiful, and even gave him a kid. I don't get it."
"People change," Casper remarked offhandedly. But he noticed Eliza's expression shift and quickly added, "I didn't mean me. I'm not going to change."
Eliza gave a little snort. Is there really a man who never changes his heart?
Initially, she wasn't keen on the reunion, but now she felt the need to see Renee,
to hear her story. It might be crucial for her own future marriage.
"I'm going to that class reunion this weekend," she declared.
Casper felt a bit uneasy, "Mind if I tag along?"
"Why on earth would I bring you?" she replied, giving him a look of mock disdain.
What do you think?
