His Ex Wife Is A Billionaire

Chapter 322

Chapter 322

A chorus of suppressed snickers echoed from the gathering of journalists.

Malicious joy, ill–intent, ridicule, contempt, hatred, each piercing gaze that scrutinized Myra brought a wave of anguish, like maggots gnawing at her very soul, a thousand ants eating at her heart.

“Mom, don’t be scared I’ll protect you!”

Nydia held her mother tightly, shielding her beneath her own body, staring down the malicious eyes one by one!

The usually timid and cautious girl now radiated with determination and strength, without a trace of fear. “I won’t let anyone hurt you, never!”

“Myra, I’m alright. I’m alright,” Myra mumbled, shaking her head in a daze, her once clear eyes now clouded and confused.

As Nydia watched, the tears she’d been trying to hold back finally fell, clustering in her mother’s hair.

“What did you say? Say that again!” Aviana pointed at the male reporter’s face, her face flushed with anger, on the verge of losing her temper.

“Aviana, this issue has nothing to do with you. Do you really need to get so worked up?” another reporter scoffed.

Suri’s eyebrows knitted together. She saw through their game.

These reporters were clearly sent to cause trouble!

“Why shouldn’t I be pissed off? Myra is my family, and insulting her is the same as insulting me!” Aviana retorted, her chest heaving with fury, wishing she could snap the reporter’s ribs one by one!

“Family? In front of the media, you guys indeed look like a loving family, but who knows what happens behind the scenes?”

The reporter smirked knowingly. “Oh Aviana, we journalists have seen enough of families like yours. Which woman doesn’t get jealous? If they had the choice, who would want to share a husband?”

Aviana was about to retort, but Suri covered her mouth in time!

They represented the Ashbourne family when they were out, and they had to consider the consequences of their actions. They could not bring unnecessary trouble to Emeric and Cassius.

“Aviana, let’s go. We shouldn’t stoop to their level.” Suri turned to leave, pulling Aviana towards their car.

The reporter who started the argument sneered, “Well, after all, thinking back about how Myra, once the leading lady, had to retire from the entertainment industry due to drug–related issues must still be a source of shame, isn’t it?”

Before the reporter could finish, a blur crossed his vision!

Everyone gasped in surprise!

No one saw where Evadne, the heiress of the Ashbourne family, had come from. Like a streak of black lightning, she cut through the crowd and stood in front of her family!

The reporter was taken aback by the sight of Evadne’s stunningly beautiful face.

She was astonishingly beautiful. How could a woman this beautiful exist in the world?

In his years as an entertainment journalist, he had seen many gorgeous actresses, but none could hold a candle to Evadne. She was breathtaking!

Other women would kill with their beauty.

Evadne was lethall

“You dared to insult Myra. Your mouth stinks as if you ate ten pounds of shit.”

Evadne smirked coldly, not waiting for the man to reply. She grabbed the man’s collar with her left hand, and raised her right!

In front of all the journalists, she gave the man a resounding slap!

Everyone was stunned, including the Ashbournes!

“Evadne.” Nydia was frozen in shock, her admiration for her sister reaching its peak!

“Damn, Evadne! You’re awesome!” Aviana clapped excitedly for her, eager to join in and give the man a piece of her mind.

Suri had to use all her strength to hold her back.

“You dare to hit me? You dare to hit someone in public?” The man clutched his numb cheek, staring at Evadne in disbelief.

“Just hitting you is not enough. I will sue you and make you pay for your despicable behavior”

Evadne remained calm and composed, her voice icy and steady. You spread rumors, defame my family member’s character, tarnish her reputation. Don’t think that just because you’re a journalist, you can say whatever you please. You think just because those you’ve hurt in the past didn’t want to make a fuss, you’ve become some kind of ‘uncrowned king? Sorry to break it to you, but tonight, I am going to knock some sense into you, and show everyone who harbors ill–intent what the consequences of spreading false accusations and twisting the truth are!”

Everyone was awed by her powerful aura!

Even though she was the one who started the physical confrontation, she was in the wrong.

But she was so beautiful, so fearless, it made people feel as if even if she committed a crime, they couldn’t bring themselves to hate her!

“I twisted the truth?”

The reporter laughed in disbelief, “What happened at the TV station’s celebration all those years ago, the younger reporters might not know, but we remember! Even though the internet wasn’t as developed then, we have memories!”

“Really? You have memories, but do you have evidence? Evadne asked, her voice steady and cold, her gaze piercing.

The man’s confidence wavered, his previously self–assured expression softened.

“What’s wrong? You were so eloquent just now. What happened? Cat got your tongue?”

Evadne glanced at his press pass, “Alright, as adults, we should take responsibility for our words and actions. The K Group’s legal department will be expecting you.”

The man shivered in fear!

Then she turned to lead her family towards their car.

“Evadne, you really don’t need to do this for me. Really, you don’t.” Myra tugged at Evadne’s sleeve, her eyes red, her face pale. She looked like a wronged little girl, and it was heartbreaking to see.

“What are you talking about? Myra.”

Evadne gazed at her tenderly, her eyes offering comforting assurance. “If a dog tries to bite you, as your family, it’s my duty to fend it off. Suri and Aviana couldn’t do anything because it wouldn’t be appropriate. I’m young and not afraid of making a scene. Į have nothing to lose.”

Just then, a gasp erupted from the crowd!

“Myra! You slut, you dare to show your face? Go to hell!”

Along with a raspy roar, a man wearing a black mask and a baseball cap suddenly charged out of the crowd, startling everyone!

In the midst of chaos, he leapt up, wielding a crowbar and aimed straight at Myra’s head! NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.

“Ah! Watch out!” Nydia cried out, her heart skipping a beat.

The bodyguards were well–trained, but this man was no pushover either. His movements were swift and his target clear. They didn’t even have time to react!

But, Evadne was the first to respond. Just as the man was about to strike, she spun around and shielded Myra with her own body.

Suri and Aviana both screamed, “Evadne!”

Panic set in and Evadne clamped her eyes shut, preparing for the worst.

Crash.

“Ugh!”

The pain never came

Instead, a familiar gasp echoed in Evadne’s ear, making her heart pound.

Thaddeus.

It was Thaddeus!

Slowly, Evadne turned her head. Her eyes were bright red and moist.

Thaddeus was there, his strong body blocking the blow. His breath was becoming labored, his strength waning.

“Evadne, are you alright?”

“Are you out of your mind? I should be the one asking you that!” Evadne snapped at him, a lump forming in her throat.

Thaddeus‘ head was throbbing, his vision blurring. But he still managed to give her a gentle smile, “If you’re worried about me, then I am okay.”

Suddenly, his world turned black.

Evadne’s heart clenched. She reached out and caught his falling body, her voice hoarse as she called out his name, Thaddeus!”

The thug who tried to attack Myra was immediately apprehended by the Ashbourne Group and handed over to the authorities by Aaron.

Before the man was shoved into the police car, Evadne, with tears streaming down her face, tried to lash out at the man!

Aaron held her back, whispering words of comfort and reassurance, “Evadne! Leave it to Aaron. Don’t dirty your hands with this

scum!”

“I’m going to kill him. I’m going to kill him!”

Evadne was visibly distraught, struggling in Aaron’s arms, still wanting to attack the man.

Cassius and Arnold arrived to see the scene, both of them taken aback.

In their memory, their little sister was always composed, fiery yet calm. They had never seen her this emotional.

The thug was handcuffed and placed in the police car. As the car drove off, he stuck his head out of the window, giving Evadne a sinister smile.

“Aaron! You must not let him off. You absolutely cannot!” Evadne’s voice was filled with pain and rage.

“Don’t worry, Evadne.” Aaron nodded sternly and followed the police car.

Left alone in the cold wind, Evadne trembled slightly.

“Evadne.”

Cassius walked over and put an arm around her, pulling her into a hug, Thaddeus has been taken to the nearest hospital under the Ashbourne Group. Dad is already on his way there and he’ll arrange for the best doctors to treat him. He’ll be fine.”

“Yeah, Evadne.”

Arnold tried to comfort her as well, “That guy’s a former soldier. He’s tough as nails. He can take a hit.”

“Take a hit?”

Evadne’s heart ached, “That was a crowbar! He’s only human. He’s lucky to be alive after taking a blow like that. You’re saying that he can take it?”

Arnold winced, realizing this wasn’t the time for jokes.

“I know all the doctors at Ashbourne Hospital. None of them are as good as me.”

Evadne took a deep breath and pulled away from her brother’s embrace, “I’m going to the hospital. If anything dangerous happens to Thaddeus, I want that man’s head!”

As they watched their sister’s retreating figure, the two brothers sighed.

“Cassius, did I say something wrong?” Arnold asked sheepishly.

“Yes. Thaddeus did save Evadne, and he’s in a critical condition now. You shouldn’t have joked about it.” Cassius answered seriously.

“I know, I know. I didn’t mean any harm.”

Arnold was full of regret, his mouth agape in dismay, “Cassius, you have to help me. I’m scared of Evadne being mad at me!”

“Don’t worry. Evadne won’t hold a grudge.”

Cassius gave him a serious look, patting his shoulder, “But remember, don’t make fun of Thaddeus in front of Evadne. Watch your

words.”

Arnold nodded, his heart heavy with mixed feelings.

Meanwhile, at the K Orld Hotel’s second floor.

Avery stood by the railing, looking down at the frantic figures of Emeric and Hamilton. Behind the reflection in his glasses, his eyes were filled with a cold, threatening glint.

“Mr Chambers.”

His secretary approached him, leaning in to whisper, “I’ve heard that Ms. Evadne was nearly attacked in the parking lot while protecting Myra. Thaddeus appeared out of nowhere, taking the blow with his head.”

Avery frowned.

“His head? My god, he’s really got some guts. Did he have some sort of special training?” The secretary was terrified just thinking about it.

“Speak when spoken to, and shut up when you’re not!” Avery snapped coldly.

The secretary froze, his lips sealed tight.

“And then? Did he die on the spot?” Avery asked, his voice icy.

“No, but he’s in a coma. He’s badly injured.”

“And where is Ms. Evadne?”

The secretary swallowed nervously, “Ms. Evadne went with him to the hospital.”

“Good, very good.”

Avery suddenly laughed, a chilling sound that echoed through the room. His eyes were bloodshot, as if a wild beast was about to break free.

“I do love it when someone tries to play tough with me, Thaddeus. For Evadne, you really can go all out, constantly playing the victim to win her sympathy, huh? Enjoy your moment of victory, because soon, I will wipe out all your efforts. As long as I live, you will never win back Evadne’s heart!”

Thaddeus was rushed into the emergency room of Ashbourne Hospital.

Emeric and Cassius personally helped Hamilton, with a group of subordinates hastily rushing to the hospital.

Thaddeus! Thaddeus! My grandson!”

Hamilton was stumbling due to his concern for Thaddeus. If it wasn’t for the support of the Ashbourne family members, he probably wouldn’t have made it.

“Hamilton, don’t worry! This hospital has the best doctors from our Ashbourne Group and the most advanced medical equipment. I have already ordered Cassius to call in a team of experts for Thaddeus. We will have a foolproof plan. Your grandson will be fine!” Emeric was also worried, but he tried his best to comfort Hamilton.

“How did this happen?”

Hamilton heavily slumped into a chair, with tears of anguish welling up in his eyes, “My dear grandson, you must hold on!”

“Grandpa.”

Hearing the call, everyone turned around.

Evadne arrived, covered in dust, slowly walked towards Hamilton and knelt down on one knee at his feet.

“Ilana.” Hamilton was taken aback when he saw her pale face and red eyes.

“Grandpa, I’m sorry.”

Evadne’s throat felt as if it was being strangled, and after a moment, she said softly and guiltily. “Mr. Thaddeus ended up like this all because of me.”
