Protector
Nate knew the involvement of cops would expose him to his dad. He couldn't risk that. He also knew the owner was trying to rip them off. He had targeted Sera on purpose to wring them out. He was in a vulnerable position right now; one wrong move, and he would lose her forever. Swallowing back his anger, he decided to play along for now. Once they were done hiding, he'd reduce this place to ashes, with its smug owner trapped inside.
"How much?" Nate asked, opening his eyes, hand slipping into his pocket to retrieve the wallet.
"No. Don't pay him. He is ripping us off..." she insisted earnestly before asking in frustration," do you not trust me?" Nate gazed down at her, his features softening.
His fingers brushed her cheek as he said, "I know, baby. I know you've done nothing wrong. I trust you and you also please, trust me. This scumbag thinks he is ripping us off.." then his gaze cut to the owner, sharpening into something lethal, "But he has no idea what's coming for him."
"10 grand," the owner replied, his eyes sparkling with greed. Nate's eyes narrowed in disagreement.
"It isn't even 5," Nate countered, a hard edge to his voice.
"Now you would tell me how much I spent on that?" the owner hissed impatiently and shoving him. "Pay the fuck up." He had schemed everything to extract money from him, as the boy looked rich. And now he had them in his trap, he wasn't going to let them slip by.
Nate glared at him, his eyes blazing with deadly intent. His features set in a grim, unyielding line.
"Lower your eyes, boy. You ain't scaring anyone," the owner sneered, shoving him again. Fists clenched at Nate's side, knuckles whitening as the urge to strike the man surged through him. But he knew better than to give in, to act on his impulse. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath to calm his rage.
Sera felt guilty as he pulled out a stack of cash from his pocket.
Nate held out the cash towards the owner and said, "I only have 2 for now. I'll pay the rest later."
"I'll take it for now. I want the rest by next week, the owner stated before extending his hand, eyes held warning, "I have connections."
The owner's fingers barely grazed the cash when Sera snatched it from Nate's hand, "No. We are not going to pay for someone else's mistake." With Nate on her side, she felt confident.
The owner gave Sera a deadly glare before shoving her. "Give me my money back, bitch," he snarled.
Nate lost it.
His fist swung, landing against the owner's face with a deadly force. The owner cried out in pain, hitting the splinter-covered ground. Sera gasped in shock, backing away on instinct. Fuming, Nate picked up a bottle from the table and advanced towards him. Eyes dark with murderous intent.
"You think you can put your hands on her and walk away?" he snarled before crashing the bottle over his head, wrenching a scream out of him. Chaos filled the room and people began flying out. The persecuted staff didn't bother saving their owner. The man had got it right. He was a scumbag.
All he saw was red- a consuming, violent red. Fury burned out reason; all that remained was a raging need to kill him for touching her. He wasn't going to just kill him, he was going to tear him apart limb from limb. He manhandled her for breaking the damn glasses. He seized a chair and began destroying everything that came in his path. He'd doubled in size, every inch of him bursting with fury. With muscles coiled nd chest heaving, he looked less like a man and more like a storm The owner cried, begged, but he didn't listen. Sera tried to stop him too, but he didn't listen. He wrecked the whole restaurant before circling back to him.noveldrama
Clutching a fistful of his hair, Nate yanked his head back with ruthless force. The sharp twist sent pain shooting through his neck, drawing a scream. There was something dark and twisted in Nate's eyes. The man had never witnessed something like this before. The boy before him appeared, deranged, psycho.
The man's eyes widened in sheer terror as Nate pressed a pointed shard against his throat.
"You touched what's mine," he hissed, grinding the shard until a drop of blood surfaced, "Now watch me tear you apart."
Now, please, don't. I don't need your money. I am sorry. Please, don't hurt me," the owner begged, shivering badly. But Nate didn't move, his expression carved from stone. When he realised Nate wasn't going to show mercy, he looked at Sera. The girl looked anxious, too.
"Please," the owner pleaded with her. Sera didn't like the owner, but she didn't want him to die either. The girl rushed towards Nate.
"Nate, leave him," Sera said, but he didn't comply, pressing the shard deeper.
Reaching out, she gripped the shard but whimpered as its edge dug into her palm. Upon hearing her whimper, Nate quickly removed the shard to hold her hand. She took a sigh of relief as the shard shattered across the floor.
"Why would you do that?" he asked, scowling and examining the small cut on her palm.
"You were going to kill him," Sera replied. Her eyes held a plea as she met his gaze.
"Let's go from here. Don't kill him," she implored softly. His tender countenance hardened in disagreement.
"He deserves to die," Nate asserted.
"No, he doesn't. I don't want you to kill him, please," she insisted, eyes
moistening. Nate pressed his lips in a thin line.
"Why the fuck do you care so much about him?" he asked.
"I don't care about him. I just don't want his death on my account, please," she explained earnestly. Nate looked unwilling to let go. He shot a deadly glare at the collapsed man before bringing his attention back to her. The man drew a heavy sigh.
"Alright. We'll order something tonight," he gave in. Sera heaved a sigh of relief as
he threaded their fingers together and walked out, leaving the owner half- conscious inside.
"Sit down," Nate instructed her before opening a drawer.
Sera sat down, eyeing him as he retrieved the first aid from the drawer. "It's just a
cut," she said.
"Yeah, and needs to be taken care
of," Nate replied, plopping down beside her Nate wouldn't have bothered to respond, but he did because he knew she must ha gone unheard countless times. He didn't want her to feel unheard. No matter how absurd her questions would get, he would never dismiss them. He would answer every time.
"Hold your hand out," he ordered. She upturned her palm. Nate's touch was gentle and caring as he took her hand in his and began cleaning the cut.
"He'll call cops on us," Sera said.
"Rio will take care of it," Nate answered, sounding unbothered. He knew Rio would go to any extent to win his confidence.
He bandaged the cut and brought her hand to his mouth. He gently pressed his
lips against the cut while holding her gaze.
"I will not let any harm come to you, ever," he promised. He liked the way she had clung to him tonight.
