Her face split into a joyful grin as she noticed her score surpassing her competitors. With the prize money, she was going to buy her dad a watch. His current watch was not working properly.

"You are doing great till now. Now we'll have questions from the audience," the conductor announced, gesturing towards the crowd.

Sera's gaze drifted towards the audience.

"What mountain range separates Europe and Asia?" a female student questioned.

'Ural" Sera replied confidently. The room fell silent for a brief moment before a deep voice interrupted.

What is the principle that states no two electrons in an atom can have the same set of quantum numbers?" Nate's deep voice rang in the air. Sera froze. She couldn't see him in the dark but she knew it was his voice. He was here to make her lose.

Sera didn't know the answer. The second stretched on but she couldn't reply.

"Which ancient civilization is credited with creating the first known form of writing, cuneiform?" Nate posed another question, knowing very well she wouldn't be able to answer it either. Sera drew a blank as before. The questions were too difficult for her grade. He asked more until her score fell behind her rival. Tears glistened in her eyes, she could almost hear him smirking, enjoying her failure.

Eventually, she lost the competition.

With slouched shoulders and her head hanging low, Sera dragged her feet out of the hall. As she entered the quiet corridor, the girl was suddenly slammed against the wall. She shrieked, feeling pain vibrate through her back. Dazed, she lifted her gaze—only to freeze under the weight of his cruel stare. Unbothered by her pain, he reached out with his hand and lifted her arm, “Looks like your lucky charm has lost its charm." he mocked, tracing a finger over his bracelet.

Without a warning, he ruthlessly wrenched the bracelet from her wrist, the pull tearing into her skin and leaving a stinging cut. The beads scattered in the air, hitting the floor with a clink. Sera watched them falling with warm tears trickling down her cheeks.

She was still reeling when he suddenly seized her jaw, his fingers painfully digging into her cheeks as he declared menacingly, "I hold your fate, the good and the bad...." pressed closer and emphasized, "in my hands."

After getting his point across, he pushed her aside and strolled off.

Wiping away her tears with her trembling fingers, she crouched down and began picking up the beads.

All because she reported him to the principal for almost killing a boy. What else was she supposed to do?

The air of Sand Bar smelled of sex and whiskey. A group of rowdy men sat around a table, cards in hand, their laughter boisterous and reckless. Scantily dressed women clung to them, whispering sweet nothings, their fingers tracing over their muscles. The dimmed lights and loud music offered just enough cover for secrets to be whispered and deals to be made.

Nate walked in through the door, his magnetic presence instantly catching eyes. Women and men alike regarded him with a mix of admiration and curiosity, their movements slowed as he entered. Dressed in black leather and dark jeans, he looked every bit of a rogue. Flicking the scorching end of his cigarette aside, he advanced toward his target, his steps unhurried but filled with purpose.

Mark glanced up, his smile fading in an instant. Shock slapped across his face only for a cold fear to take over a moment later.

Nate's lips curved into a vicious smirk.

"Not happy to see me, mate?" he questioned, eyes filled with a mix of amusement and malice.

Gripped by anxiety, Mark flipped the table in one violent motion, sending the bar into a whirlwind of chaos. Suddenly white smoke swirled through the air, obstructing Nate's vision. Mark's ally emerged from the haze, his fist landing solidly against his sharp jaw, snapping his head sideways.

The man swung for another blow, but Nate was quicker, his hand locked around the attacker's fist in mid-air. His other hand moved like lightning and delivered a deadly punch across his face. Closing his eyes, he let his hearing take the command. Even the faintest rustle by his opponents couldn't escape his hearing, enabling him to strike his enemy back to back with deadly force. He was rigorously trained to fight with no vision. The smoke dissipated to reveal several bodies strewn across the floor. But none was of Mark's. That bloody traitor.

Blood stained his clothes, a chilling testament to the monster he was. He picked up a rod and scanned the bar.

"A fucking pussy.." he ridiculed with contempt. Dragging the rod against the gravelly floor, he strolled casually and continued, "I wonder how you made it into my dad's troop. Must've been pity." He concluded before a smirk played over his luscious lips.

"It's a beautiful day..... to die," he remarked, noting the sun outside.

His ears twitched before his hand shot behind his back on its own and gripped the blade with his bare hand. The sharp edge cut into his palm, a thin stream of blood trickling down his wrist as he spun on his heels and met Mark's horror-struck eyes.

A deranged glint flashed in his eyes, his mouth twisting into an unsettling smirk as he sneered in his face, "Bad move."

Nate kicked him hard in the stomach, making him double over in pain. The dagger slipped from Mark's fingers, hitting the floor with a clank. Without hesitation, Nate yanked him up by his hair. Nate's fist struck with brutal force, his knuckles crushing against Mark's jaw. Mark cried out in pain as Nate bashed his head with the rod before driving it through his abdomen. The man died on the spot.

Nate watched as life slowly faded from his eyes. He then turned around and sauntered out of the bar, leaving the body to rot.
