Chapter 1049: Can't Find Sandy, No Need for Him to Return
At that time, on the overpass exit.
Brandon's face was gloomy as he stared at the parked cars by the side. His expression foretold a
brewing storm.
Berton, who had been with Brandon for some time, had never seen him like this before. Brandon
appeared both disheveled and fierce.
Berton glanced at the people standing to the side, then gathered his courage and took a couple of
steps towards Brandon. "Mr. Hawkins, I've had people search again. I believe we'll have news soon."
After hearing Berton's words, Brandon neither responded nor said anything.
Seeing this, Berton hesitated to speak further.
Just then, Brandon's phone rang.
It was Maya calling.
Brandon adjusted his mood before answering, "Sis-in-law?"
Maya's voice came through the phone, "Have you found Sandy?"
Brandon's grip on the phone tightened slightly as he answered truthfully, "Not yet."
Maya sounded worried too, "I've informed your brother, and I asked him to have the people he's with
help search as well. As for Mom... she might not be able to keep it a secret much longer."
Upon hearing this, Brandon's heart sank. "What's going on?"
"A little while ago, the Duncan family called. They said Olive isn't doing well. They want Mom to talk to
you. I told them I'd call you instead." Maya was straightforward, briefly explaining the situation to
Brandon.
Listening to Maya, Brandon's voice grew heavy. "Tell them I can't go, I have something important to
deal with."
Maya was aware of the history between Brandon and Olive. She knew that Olive's departure had been
a blow to Brandon, and even though they had a destined connection, their paths didn't converge in the
end.
Maya had found their story a bit regrettable, considering their childhood connection and mutual
understanding.
However, some emotions couldn't be sustained just because they were regrettable.
So, hearing Brandon's response, Maya didn't say much more. "Alright then, you focus on finding
Sandy, and I'll call them back."
Brandon acknowledged her and thanked her before ending the call.
On the other side, after hanging up, Maya met Kason, who had just come out from inside.
Kason walked up to Maya and asked softly, "What's the situation?"
"He definitely won't go. Sandy hasn't been found yet, and he's already anxious. How could he have the
mood to visit Olive?" Maya explained.
Kason furrowed his brows slightly after hearing Maya's words. "What's going on? If Sandy has
something wrong, Mom is bound to be angry."
Maya sighed, thinking about the online news, and spoke softly, "Honestly, if I were Sandy, I'd be angry
after seeing those news too."
Kason was about to say something when Maya cut in, "Don't think Sandy doesn't trust Brandon. She's
pregnant, and it's easy for her to overthink things. Also, Brandon mentioned today that Sandy saw him
at the hospital when he was taking Olive into the operating room."
Pausing briefly, Maya looked at Kason. "Imagine, if you're feeling unwell and you need me, but I'm at
the hospital with my ex-boyfriend. What would you think?"
Listening to Maya, Kason fell silent, unsure how to respond.
If it were Maya, he would probably turn the world upside down and might even go straight there to
confront them.
This wasn't about trust or distrust.
Kason remained silent for a few seconds. "I've already sent someone to look for Sandy. I'll contact you
if there's any news."
Maya acknowledged him and was about to say something else when a black car pulled up.
The door opened, and Nelson got out.
"Kason, sis-in-law." After stepping out of the car, Nelson greeted Kason and Maya.
Kason looked at Nelson. "Are you here to find Brandon?"
Nelson nodded. "Where is he? He's not home, and I went to the company, but he's not there either.
He's not answering his phone."
Maya looked at Nelson and asked straightforwardly, "Are you here because of Olive?"
Nelson nodded again. "You guys know?"
Maya didn't deny it. "Nelson, I'll go with you to see Olive. Brandon has something important to deal with
today, so he might not be able to visit Olive."
Nelson was slightly taken aback by Maya's words and fell silent for a moment before speaking softly,
"What could be so important that he can't spare even a moment when it concerns life and death?"
Maya didn't want Nelson to misunderstand, so she explained the situation truthfully.
After hearing Maya, Nelson fell silent for a moment before speaking in a hushed tone, "Sis-in-law, NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
come with me to see her. What if..."
He didn't finish the sentence.
Olive's condition was grave. The fruit knife had pierced her heart, and combined with the injuries from
the fall, her life was hanging by a thread.
Maya responded with a word and got into the car with Nelson, heading to the hospital.
Kason stood where he was, watching the car drive away, before turning and entering the house.
Seeing Kason come in, Aunt Bruton raised her gaze and looked at him. "How is it? Have you found
her?"
Kason walked up to Aunt Bruton and sat down beside her. "We're looking for her. Viteto is so big, it'll
take some time."
Aunt Bruton looked distressed, her tone turning colder. "And where's Brandon? What's he doing when
something so big has happened?"
"He's looking for Sandy. He's worried too." Kason tried to reassure her softly.
Aunt Bruton frowned. "If something's wrong with Sandy, tell him not to come back anymore."
Aunt Bruton genuinely liked Sandy, especially now that she was pregnant. She was thrilled about it.
Kason responded, "He's more anxious than anyone. He'll definitely find Sandy."
Aunt Bruton looked at Kason. "Alright, hurry up and find her. With a child on the way and no friends
here, what if something happens?"
Kason acknowledged her words. "Okay, I'll go find someone. You stay here; Lucas and the others will
come keep you company later."
