Chapter 177 Putting a Dampener
"Eudora? What a coincidence! You are here, too!"
Just as Eudora and Chasel were chatting, a voice suddenly shouted.
They glanced over and saw Colbert and Alva standing there with Alva holding Colbert's arm. They
looked like a perfect match but somehow made people feel uncomfortable. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Eudora looked over and accidentally met Colbert's gaze. His deep eyes held a suspicious look as if
Eudora had done something bad behind his back.
"Eudora, Colbert and I came here for lunch too. Since we've met... why don't we eat together?"
Alva tilted her head to glance at Colbert beside her and then asked Chasel on purpose, "Mr. Burke, is
that okay?"
She made the decision without seeking Colbert's opinion.
"You..."
Just as Eudora was about to say something, she heard Chasel say, "No problem, but we won't pay for
this meal."
"Eudora is my sister and Colbert's surrogate sister. You've helped her a lot before, so it's only natural
that we treat you to this meal."
Everyone present knew that there was more to Alva's words.
After that, she looked at Colbert. "Colbert, you don't mind, do you?"
Colbert's expression was indifferent. "No."
With that, he sat down next to Chasel. Alva sat down next to Eudora and called a waiter to add two
more dishes and sets of utensils.
So, the four of them sat together.
Usually gentle and reserved, Alva was quite lively now, "Mr. Burke, last time at my engagement
banquet, you and your father had an unpleasant disagreement because of Eudora. How are things
between you now?"
She did it on purpose.
"We're good. Ms. Baldwin, mind your own business." Chasel retorted, coldly glancing at Alva.
Being rebuked, Alva looked somewhat embarrassed. She pursed her lips and suddenly appeared pitiful
and helpless. "I... I just thought that you liked Eudora, and I was worried that your father wouldn't
accept her."
