Chapter 739 Misunderstanding (Part One)
Chapter 739 Misunderstanding (Part One)
Sitting in the small dining room, Violet ate her delicious meal with relish, while Greg sat by, watching his
wife with lots of affection.
"Don't miss a meal if you get angry next time, okay?" he lovingly admonished, looking her straight in
the eyes. He reached out his left hand and lightly stroked her tousled hair dotingly.
"I lost my appetite since you were away. So I didn't eat anything," Violet explained casually, winking at
her man. She thought to herself, 'Ain't I ecstatic, just to have him around now.'
"I'm sorry. It's all my fault," Greg apologized as he stared into Violet's eyes. 'I shouldn't have left her last
night. Even though I was angry, I shouldn't have left her alone at home, ' he regretted.
"Greg," Violet called tenderly as she put down her chopsticks. She turned to look at him before
saying,"Don't leave me alone, okay?" There was a mixture of softness and fear in her voice.
"I'll never do that again. I promise I'll stay with you," Greg promised, stroking her gently on the cheek.
Since he left Violet last night, he had been restless. Even at the hospital today, he was absentminded.
His life would suck without her, he thought.
"I believe you," Violet responded, her face breaking into a bright smile.
After dinner, Violet curled up on the couch watching TV. In the meanwhile, Greg did the dishes in the
kitchen.
When he finished up, he walked out to find Violet sleeping on the couch.
Sidling up to Violet on tiptoe, he lifted her to his chest and carried her into the bedroom.
Carefully, he put her on the bed. When Violet woke up, she found herself lying on the bed. She was
sure she had fallen asleep on the couch, so he must have carried her to bed. But she wondered if she
had slept so deeply that she hadn't even woken up while he brought her to bed.
"You didn't sleep well last night, did you?" asked Greg who was lying beside his wife. Looking at her
puffy eyes, he felt concerned.
"Yes. I guess I watched too much TV, even though I knew I was tired and needed sleep. I must have
fallen asleep on the couch," Violet answered. Even though she had taken a nap, she still felt so drowsy.
"Go back to sleep, sweetheart," Greg cooed. He tucked her inside the quilt and turned off the table
lamp on Violet's side.
"But I want to talk to you, Greg," Violet said softly, as she sweetly snuggled up against Greg's chest.
"Okay," he agreed, ready to answer her questions. He intended to tell her everything she wanted to
know. She was his wife and he felt no need for keeping secrets from each other.
"Where... Where did you sleep last night?" Violet asked. 'Where did he go after he left home?' she
wondered.
"At home," Greg blurted.
Violet knew Greg meant the Xiao family's residence. "Did Dad and Aunt ask anything?" she asked
tentatively.
"No. I didn't tell them anything," Greg answered.
"Did Cassie come here for you, Greg?" Violet asked. Although she doubted her assumption, she still
spoke it out. The woman's appearance made her feel insecure.
Taking in Violet's gaze, he couldn't bear lying to her. With a nod, he replied,"Yes. But I didn't know she
would come here."
"Now that she works in the XS hospital, you two will meet every day, right?" Violet asked, feeling
extremely anxious.
Shaking his head, Greg answered,"We do meet sometimes, but not every day."
"I see," Violet whispered.
With eyes still transfixed on Violet, Greg said firmly,"Have faith in me, Violet. You're the only one I love.
I will never turn my back on you to betray your love with another woman.''
"I know, Greg," Violet echoed with an air of confidence. From the time she had a fight with Greg, she
had sat back and reflected on the whole situation. In the end, she decided it was wiser to follow her
heart and take him at his word. That way, she could protect her family and seize her happiness.
"We have been in love since long time ago. And our love has been pure and pretty as love could ever
be. Genuine, unpretentious, and selfless. I can't retract my promise to love you ever. I'll always cherish
and adore you, no matter what may come our way, for the rest of my life," Greg swore.
"Ummm," Violet responded bashfully. Greg's sweet words had so deeply touched her; she was left
teary-eyed. But the words aside, she remembered his commitment in every little thing. She knew he Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
was a man truly in love with her.
With passion and tenderness in his eyes, Greg kissed softly on her lips.
A week after the stormy disagreement, Violet and Greg's life returned to normalcy. They returned to the
quiet, happy couple again.
In the morning, Violet blinked, lying on the bed and looked around the cozy bedroom. Even though she
was alone, she smiled with contentment. She murmured to herself,"Greg must be working now."
When she got up, she headed straight to the bathroom for a quick shower. Just as she reached for the
hairdryer, she was interrupted by her phone ringing. With her hair still wet, she stepped out the
bathroom to answer the call.
Walking straight to the bedside table, she grabbed her phone, read the caller ID, and answered
cheerfully.
"Hello, Alice," Violet said gladly.
"Have you got up yet, lazybones?" Alice asked in a naughty voice.
"Of course, I'm up now. Besides, don't call me lazybones, Miss Alice. I'm not a lazy girl," Violet replied.
'Alice dared to call me that. I haven't met her just for several days, but she starts to make fun of me like
that, ' she mulled, pouting.
"Don't you lead such a happy life? Greg cooks for you every day and does all the housekeeping. You
hardly do anything at home, but still, you say you ain't lazy, girl. Don't I envy your lucky stroke?" Alice
retorted in her typical stubborn fashion.
"You don't believe my words, Alice. You disappoint me," Violet snorted, pretending to be angry.
"Of course, I don't believe your words. It's hard to believe, isn't it?" Alice said. She then changed the
subject. "You got thirty minutes. Dress up. Thirty minutes later, I'll drive by to pick you up. Then we can
go out for lunch."
"Seriously? Half an hour? I haven't even dried my hair yet," Violet replied. Looking in the mirror, she
gawked at her wet hair, lost in thought. 'It will take at least another half hour to get it done.'
"So be quick. I'll be there soon," Alice urged.
"Well, I gotta go. See you later," Violet responded and ended the call. Immediately she put down the
phone on the bed and quickly reached for her dryer. . .
