Chapter 785 A Treat To Dinner (Part Two)

Chapter 785 A Treat To Dinner (Part Two)

"It's alright if you are busy tonight. We can do this another day," Francis said in a disappointed tone, "I

will be on a business trip for a couple of days, so I wanted to treat you to a meal before leaving."

Violet thought for a moment, and then said, "I'm not sure if I am free tonight. I'll check my schedule and

let you know later?"

"Okay!" Francis replied immediately. Although he couldn't wait to see Violet, he had no intention to

push her. He wouldn't even sulk if she refused his offer. After all, she was married to Greg.

"If I am free tonight, where would we be going?" Violet asked.

"Well..." Francis' mind raced, trying to remember different places, and chose one quickly. "How about

we go to the Cantonese restaurant in the South District? I have been there several times. The food is

good," he proposed.

"Oh, good. I'll call you if I can go with you," Violet said.

Francis immediately said, "Please don't call. I'll be in a meeting. You can text me. If you are coming,

then let's meet at 7:00 in the evening. I will wait for you at the restaurant."

"Okay," Violet said and hung up.

She held her cell phone with a wistful look. Soon after, she made a call to her husband.

Greg answered swiftly.

"Violet, what's up?" Greg asked in a concerned voice. He had taken her over to the Chu family's villa

this morning and she was calling him at this unusual hour, which she normally wouldn't. He became

anxious wondering if something had happened to her.

"Is this a convenient time for you to talk?" Violet asked. She didn't want to disturb him if he was

working.

"I'm not busy. I was just going through some patient files," Greg said.

"Okay," Violet said slowly, "Well, Francis had called and he said he wishes to treat me to a meal

tonight."

"Francis?" Greg repeated his name.

"He will be going on a business trip for a few days, so he asked me out on a meal," Violet explained

cautiously. When Greg didn't respond, she suggested, "How about we go together?"

Greg rubbed his chin, brooding. After a while, he asked, "Where will you be going?"

"A Cantonese restaurant in the South District. He said the food there is delicious," Violet replied.

Actually, she had no idea where the restaurant was. If she was going to go alone, she would need to

check the route first.

"I know that place," Greg said, "I can't come with you. I need to work overtime. Why don't you go and

enjoy the dinner? Call me after you're done. I will pick you up from there."

In all honesty, Greg was reluctant to let his wife be alone with Francis. But he didn't want to intervene in

Violet's life too much. Besides, the restaurant was located downtown and he could easily find her there.

He knew that Violet could take care of herself. And since she had called to ask him to join them, he

was certain that his wife wouldn't cross the line. He had faith in her and thought that she would just go

there to have dinner with him and nothing more would happen.

"Are you sure?" Violet asked, looking surprised.

"Yes, I am sure. You told me that you and Francis are friends. So I don't think there is anything for me

to worry about. And I believe my wife. So go and have fun. Call me after you finish dinner. I will pick

you up. I don't want Francis to take you home." He said the last sentence in a bossy and roguish voice.

For the past few days, he had done whatever Violet had asked and they had been on good terms. Now

that she wanted to dine with her friend, he thought he should fulfill her wish.

"Thank you, Greg!" Violet responded cheerfully.

"You don't have to be so formal with me," Greg said, laughing, "Let Bill drive you there. It's gonna be

cold in the evening, so remember to take your coat."

Greg always made sure to be a caring husband for Violet.

"I will. Now, go back to your work. I will call you later," Violet said, drowning in happiness. Greg's

affection and care warmed her heart.

"Bye!" he said.

With her handbag casually placed in her hand, Cassie made her way to Francis' office in her four-inch

high-heeled shoes. When she reached, she saw her cousin's assistant inside.

Seeing Cassie, the assistant stood up in a hurry. "Hello, Miss Cassie," he greeted politely.

"Hi," Cassie greeted back indifferently. She shot him a dismissive glance before asking, "Where is my This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

cousin?"

"Mr. Francis is in a meeting," the assistant answered deferentially.

"When is the meeting getting over?" Cassie asked. She waited patiently for his answer.

"It will perhaps take another half an hour," the assistant replied. He wasn't sure how long the meeting

was going to last.

To his surprise, Cassie didn't snap at him. She said bossily, "I see. I will wait here till he's done. I need

a cup of coffee with less sugar."

"Okay, Miss Cassie. This way, please," the assistant showed her into Francis' office.

Cassie entered the office without even glancing at the assistant.

Cassie sat on the couch idly. She looked around the empty office, trying to find something other than

books and profiles. Besides, the walls were painted dark grey. She felt dull and moody.

As she sat wondering what she could do to pass the time, she heard Francis' phone vibrating on the

desk.

She looked towards the direction of the noise. 'Francis forgot to take his phone for the meeting. Looks

like he's got a message, ' she assumed.
