KING MICAH: World Beyond The Ruins

Chapter 14

Every bones in my body were tensed and my muscles sore. I brushed my hair out of my face and with my weak arms, I pushed myself up in a sitting position.

I placed the back of my left palm over my throbbing head and looked around.

I was in the library.

Suddenly, everything that happened earlier came crashing in and the memories of how Devina had used her magic to lure me to sleep flood in.

“Fucking bitch” I spat silently and groaned in pain as the massive headache hits me onve more.

After massaging the spot for a while, I pushed myself up to my feet, dust the dirt that had gathered on my clothes and walked towards the door but not before looking out the window to see that the sky was really dark.

I pushed the large door open and released a sigh as I walked down the hallway. I wasn’t ready to go back to my room so I decided to take a stroll outside the castle.

As I got to the entrance/exit of the gate, I expected to see the two guards who guard the entrance but there was no one there and I wondered if they were slacking with their duties because the king was away.

I heard voices and shouting. Curious to see what was happening, I went there and saw a large group of people gathered in a circle watching what was in their middle.

I took cautious steps down the stairs and when I realized I won’t be able to see what was happening if I went any closer or if I did, I might get harmed with all the bulky muscles gathered around, I turned around and went up the stairs once more.

Two half naked men were fighting in the ring of people. They were both half-shifted and their slacks cling on to their muscled-fur-skin for dear life.

They both growled and clawed at each other and I winced when one slashed at the skin of the other, drawing both fur and flesh out. Blood leaked out of both men and they were a panting mess.

It was also safe to say that it was a good option to stay up here because I do not want to get caught in fight.

“Why are they fighting?” I asked to no one, voicing out the thought.

The answer that came startled me and I turn to my right to see a dark skinned girl next to me also watching the men.

“Pardon?”

“I said they are fighting over a mate” She said, repeating what she said a few seconds ago.

She turned to look ate and I could finally see her features with the help of the lamps that lit up the stairs.

She had dark skin that was covered with dark traditional tattoos and were very hard to see the details in the night time. Her warm and amber looking eyes absorbed my appearance with her nose high up not hesitating to breath in my scent. She was a strong looking woman with broad shoulders, thighs rippling with muscles and stomach fills with abs.

She tilt her head to the side, I blinked and shook my head when I realized that I was staring – and no, not in a sexual way even though she was in her training shorts but rather in a curious manner.

“You’re the Kings mate” She said curiously even though almost everyone in the castle knows about it but not everyone have seen me.

Before Micah left, he had warned me to not reveal myself as his mate to unknown people because he had a lot of enemies.

“Hum… Yes” I answered hesitantly.

The woman nods her head and stretched out her hand. “I’m Tolu, the beta’s mate” Tolu said proudly and I widen my eyes.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

I never expected the Delta’s mate to be this powerful… Muscular even and definitely not looking so fit after giving birth to a child.

“Celeste” I mumbled back in amazement and she chuckled at my expression.

“Yeah, I know what you’re thinking” She said jokingly and with an eye roll and I shook my head and chuckled and raised my hands up in a surrender way.

“Where’s the baby?” I asked curiously, looking around with a furrowed brow.

Tolu groaned beside me and I looked at her once more. “With her father, I needed a break so I promised to watch over you while he takes care of her for the night”

I nodded in understanding until I remembered what she just said. “Wait! You’re watching me?”

“Of course,” She answered with a frown. “You are the King’s mate and exposed to potential danger”

I nodded knowing she was right. Being the King’s mate comes with danger.

The noise coming from below me snapped my attention back to the fight between the two male.

Why are they fighting over one female when they both have different mates?” I decided to ask Tolu.

I turned my head to look at her only to find her looking at the fight with a frown.

“They both have one mate and they can’t share her. It isn’t in our nature” She answered.

“But how is that possible?”

“Well, it happens but it’s very rare” Tolu said while running her hand through her short dark brown hair.

“Well, why isn’t anyone stopping them” I asked, motioning to the people gathered around and the guards who just stood there watching it happen.

“Without the King to resolve the issue, they have to fight it”

“Wait, you mean fight it as in till-”

“Yes. Fight it to the Death”

I was expecting it but still hearing it made the hair on my skin rose. And on cue, a painful whimper sounded below and a body dropped to the floor.

The dead man’s neck was cut out clean and blood gushed out. It was a barbaric sight to witness honestly, and I felt pity for the dead man.

He lost his life all because of a female.

The other man’s fur retracts into his skin and he faced a female. With skin bathed with blood, he scooped the woman into his arms, buried his nose in her neck and walked out of the crowd without a word.

I stood there for a minute as I watched the crowd all leave one by one. A cry made me snap my head up to my right to see a man all over a woman.

I would have ignored it if it wasn’t for the hair. I would have ignored it if it wasn’t for the orange gown I saw the first time I came to the castle.

But because I knew who’s hair and gown was, I couldn’t ignore. Especially when he slide his hand up her thigh.
