Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Now, Scarlet had no one to rely on. She was just a nineteen-year-old student.
Kyra had planned to pretend to be nice to Scarlet so that the latter would sign the papers obediently.
But she didn't expect that Scarlet would be so stubborn and ungrateful.
Enraged, she pinched Scarlet's jaw with one hand and pointed at the contract with the other, forcing
her to sign it.
Scarlet glanced at Nolan who was sitting opposite her.
He was her biological father. But he didn't care that Kyra was physically assaulting her and just sat
back and watched with an indifferent expression on his face.
Although Scarlet had been used to Nolan's coldness toward her, she still felt heartbroken.
They forced her to sign and even stamp the contract.
In truth, Scarlet could've given them everything without a fight, but they chose to be mean to her, which
was only a testament to the kind of people that they were.
Nolan didn't deserve to be a father. These three people didn't have an ounce of humanity in them.
But Scarlet was powerless now. Even if she were to sue them, they would just find a way to shut her
up. She had no choice but to admit defeat.
"Can I go now?"
Scarlet stood up, straightened her back, and clenched her fists. She put emphasis on her words,
refusing to cower before these horrible people.
"You are just like your mother. That bitch could've saved us a lot of trouble if she'd just agreed to
divorce your father when he first asked. Why did she have to be so stubborn? What a stupid cunt!"
Kyra cursed.
Hearing those insults directed toward her late mother, Scarlet felt like she had just been stabbed in the
heart.
She swore to herself that she would seek revenge one day. For her dead mother, for her missing
brother, and for all the pain she had suffered over the years because of these three people.
One day, she would have the last laugh. Right now, she was too weak, and she had no support. She
had to work hard and build a life first. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Without waiting for their response, Scarlet turned to leave, but Colleen stood in her way and stopped
her.
"What more do you want from me?"
Scarlet frowned. They had already gotten her money. What else could they possibly want?
Colleen darted her eyes at Scarlet's belly, which made Scarlet feel a little uneasy.
Feeling her heart leap to her throat, Scarlet reflexively put her hands over her stomach.
"Lenny had been abroad since you two got married. How did you get pregnant? You are really
something. I can't believe that you have the nerve to hook up with another man. What if the Foster
family finds out that you've cheated on Lenny? If you don't want to deal with the bastard, we can help
you get rid of it. The Foster family doesn't need to know."
"How do you know..." Scarlet started nervously.
She'd just found out about her pregnancy and hadn't told anyone. How could Colleen know about it?
Scarlet knew why her family was offe
ring to help her. They believed that she had been unfaithful while she was married to Lenny. If the
Foster family found out that she got pregnant with another man's child while she was still Lenny's wife,
they would definitely take back everything that Lenny gave her in the divorce settlement. That meant
the Brown family would end up with nothing.
Nolan, Kyra, and Colleen started approaching Scarlet. They circled her like sharks that had just
smelled blood in the water.
"You... Don't be reckless. This child... This baby is Lenny's, okay? Don't you dare touch me, or Lenny
won't let you go!"
Colleen sneered, "You are such a terrible liar, Scarlet. You and Lenny only met twice. The first time is
when you got married, and the second and last time is when you got divorced. You have been pregnant
for three months now. Three months ago, you were at home, and he was abroad. That child can't be
his."
"Let's get her and take her to the hospital for an abortion. We must take care of this matter today," Kyra
ordered.
They were afraid that Scarlet would resist, so they prepared the anesthetic in advance and directly
gave her the shot in the arm.
They weren't able to inject every drop because Scarlet struggled wildly against them, but they were
able to inject enough to make her weak.
Then, they took her to the hospital.
Scarlet felt faint from the anesthetic her family gave her, but she was lucid enough to know that she
had been rolled into the operating room. She wanted to resist, but she was too weak to do anything.
She could only watch in horror as the doctor spread her legs. From where she was lying, she could see
the shiny, stainless steel scalpels and other surgical instruments.
"No. Please. I don't want to have an abortion. Please, don't..." She sobbed and begged for mercy.
She hadn't decided whether or not she would get an abortion. Honestly, she had thought of getting rid
of the child. But it was definitely not the right time, and at the moment, she was unwilling to lose her
baby against her will.
She wanted to give up struggling and accept her fate.
Lying on a cold operating table, she was terrified out of her mind.
No. She couldn't let them kill her child. Her baby was innocent.
She had no family in this world. She was very lonely. Her child was her chance to have a family of her
own.
If it weren't for her mother's last wish, Scarlet would've been unable to hold on.
She wanted to protect this child, just like how her mother had protected her all her life.
The nurse told her that three percent of the time, contraceptives failed. It was a very slim chance, yet
she still got pregnant. Scarlet could only surmise that this child was destined to be given to her.
She had to keep her baby, give birth to it, and raise it up.
Even without Lenny, Scarlet believed that as long as she showered their child with enough love and
care, everything would be all right.
