Living With My Lady Boss

Chapter 17

Gordon looked at his daughter. “What’s going on?”

“Grandpa didn’t take any medicine,” Susie said weakly.

Gordon sprang to his feet, his expression dark. “What about his test results, then?”

Susie lowered her head. “The test results are real. Grandpa said that it was Wilbur who treated him, and his body only got better thanks to the cultivation method that Wilbur taught him.”

Gordon sat back down slowly. He could not believe that this was true.

Susie would never lie to him. Benjamin had not taken any of the medicine, but his body had miraculously taken a turn for the better… That could only mean that Wilbur was behind all of

1. it.

Seeing the helpless look on her father’s face, Susie said in a small voice, “Grandpa told us to apologize to Wilbur in person and ask for his forgiveness, or Grandpa won’t let us go home.”

Gordon was silent. His expression shifted endlessly. It was clear that he was struggling

internally.

At that exact moment, Blake ran over to Gordon. “General Grayson, Wilbur Penn is a cheat. He cheated my company away from me! You hate him, don’t you? Get him, then! Bastards like him will only cause more harm the longer they live.”

Blake was helpless and had somehow thought of using Gordon to help him.

Just then, Gordon let out a deep sigh. He got to his feet and offered a bow to Wilbur. “I’m

sorry, Mister Penn. I’ve mistaken you. Please forgive my foolishness.”

Susie hurried to bow as well. “I’m sorry, Mister Penn. I wrongly blamed you. Please accept my

apology.”

Blake fell to the ground at the sight of the both of them bowing and apologizing.

By the side, the audience let out a series of shocked cries as well.

Someone like General Grayson was apologizing to Wilbur. What had happened for General Grayson to lower himself to do so?

Wilbur smiled lightly and took a sip of champagne. “I can forgive you. I always give second. chances to people who apologize.”

The words were unbelievable to everyone else present.

General Grayson was about as powerful as the District Manager. Even if Wilbur was powerful, he was just a businessman and did not count for much.

However, Gordon and Susie both knew that Benjamin did not have long to live, and it was Wilbur who saved him.

It could be said that Wilbur was not just a businessman, but a miracle worker with mysterious abilities. There was no end to what he was capable of.

Gordon’s identity might mean a great deal to others, but he was hardly anyone in the face of someone like Wilbur.

Upon hearing Wilbur’s words, Gordon slowly got to his feet. “Thank you for your forgiveness, Mister Penn. We’ll be heading back home to apologize to my father. Please let me know if there’s anything I can help you with in the future.”

“That’s greatly appreciated,” Wilbur replied calmly.

Just then, Gordon left with his daughter without casting a second glance at the crowd. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

The guests were at a loss for words.

Wilbur was not only rich, but he also held a terrifying amount of power. Everyone knew how big a deal it was for someone with Gordon’s status to say something like that.

Just then, Yvonne seemed to have snapped back to her senses and regained a strange amount of strength. She ran to the stage and shouted into the microphone, “Ladies and gentlemen, Blake Woods and I are not married. We’ve not even registered yet, and he doesn’t deserve to

be my husband. This wedding is over.”

Those words brought about another wave of chatter.

After all, Yvonne had just made such a heart-wrenching speech earlier, yet she had turned around to denounce them just like that.

Blake coughed up a mouthful of blood, his face paling. He had gone through far too much in one day.

Right at that moment, more than ten people entered the banquet hall and walked up to Blake.

One of them took out his work permit and said to Blake, “Mister Blake Woods. Woods Corporate was found guilty of tax fraud. Please come back with us and cooperate with the investigation.
