Chapter 737: The Bailey Family
Tina smiled, her eyes curving, "Has Jason not recovered from his injury yet?"
Courtney replied, "He has recovered. But the spot where he was injured by the explosion still hurts when it's cloudy and rainy. Tina, do you have any good remedies that could fully heal him?" "Yes," Tina replied, her eyes gleaming with mischief.
"But why are you asking? Why not have him come here himself? You know, I need to see the patient to prescribe the right treatment."
Hearing this, Courtney's cheeks reddened further.
"I, I wanted him to come himself. But he's afraid to, you know. He's scared of Mr. Farrell, and also..."
Her voice trailed off, growing fainter, her expression filled with hesitation and discomfort.
Tina grew more curious.
"What else is there?"
She had never seen Courtney look so troubled.
Lysander, unburdened by such concerns, spoke up loudly, "Tina, I know. It's all Orson's fault. Lately, that guy has been sticking to Courtney non-stop."
What mattered most was that he wasn't just clinging to her like glue, but also taking every chance to declare his feelings with the most awkward and cringeworthy methods picked up who knows where. He went through the whole ritual in front of Courtney.
Lysander counted on his fingers, "I told him to learn from Jared. He insisted on doing it himself, starting with candles and roses, which was normal. But then, those acrylic music boxes with rainbow colors and Courtney's photos printed on them, shaped like hearts? Or a bunch of cacti, who knows what he was thinking, and later, a glass orb..."
Tina already felt secondhand embarrassment just listening.
Her lips twitched, and she had no hope for what Lysander would say next.
Lysander opened his mouth, struggled with his wording, and finally, unable to hold it in, burst out laughing.
"Tina, you should have seen that glass orb. Inside was a little model of Orson, and when it moved, it started singing and hopping around everywhere, hahaha!"
A little figure, singing and hopping?
Tina imagined the scene, her eyes full of sympathetic embarrassment for Courtney.
"You've had it tough..."
Courtney couldn't even force a smile.
This was exactly the scene she feared.
Tina, though tempted to laugh, really tried hard to hold it back.
The worst part was Lysander, who had already laughed once about it at school.
Now he was laughing again, causing Courtney's temples to throb.
Barely holding back the urge to send Lysander flying with a slap, she managed to squeeze out through clenched teeth, "Go ahead and laugh, but you won't be laughing when Mr. Farrell gets back." Utterly speechless!
Why was it that Orson did these things, but she was the one embarrassed?
Lysander roared with laughter.
His demonic laughter filled the entire apartment. Initially, he didn't grasp Courtney's threat, "Let him come back, I'm not afraid of him... Wait, who did you say is coming back?!"
His smile abruptly vanished, and he even belched because he stopped so suddenly.
"Isn't Jared busy with company stuff? Why would he return so soon? Did you message him?"
A barrage of questions poured out, Lysander not waiting for Courtney's answer.
Just seeing the smug look on her face told him all he needed to know, his handsome face momentarily contorted, "Well played, Courtney. I kindly brought you to see Tina, and this is how you repay me! You traitor!" "Who said you're in the same organization as me?!"
Courtney scoffed.
Catching Tina in a moment of spectator glee, she said, "Tina, you originally asked me to protect him. Now that the GTO organization is almost wiped out, my mission can end, right?"
Tina tilted her head, a look of confusion spreading across her face.
"Didn't I tell you? Your mission should have ended a long time ago. I thought you had already rejoined the team. I didn't realize you were still at school."
"Could have left already?"NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
Courtney's smug smile froze.
"But you never told me that before."
She could have left already?
If she had known this...
How could she possibly continue to waste time at school with Orson?
And to think of all the embarrassing history she wouldn't have had to leave behind!
Seeing Courtney's despair, Tina opened her mouth, turning her head away with a guilty conscience for the first time. It seemed she really had forgotten. After returning, there had been so much to handle.
It was only today that she finally got a chance to breathe, and by then, she had forgotten about the brief period of free time she had at the beginning. During those two days, she was busy dating Jared, and never even thought about Courtney's situation.
The room fell silent.
Finally, unable to stand the tense atmosphere, Lysander leaned in and asked Tina, "Tina, I've been wanting to ask, can I join your organization?" "No."
Tina didn't hesitate in her refusal.
"You should focus on your studies. Isn't the title of an esports champion enough for you to play around with? The Emerson family still needs you to hold it up, brother. Don't spend your days concocting one scheme after another." "With his skills, even if he went to the X Bureau, he wouldn't pass our assessments."
As a loud door opening sounded, everyone turned to look. Jared entered with a stern face, his gaze landing on Lysander, clearly displeased.
Lysander was indignant, "Why can't I join?! I am the head of the Emerson family now. If Courtney can get in, why can't I?!"
Tina replied, "Because you can't beat Courtney. Just be honest and stop trying to stir up trouble every day."
Ella Bailey stepped into the main hall and immediately caught the stern gaze of her father sitting at the head of the table. Luke Gill stood to his left, and Kelly sat at the prime seat to the right, her eyes intently on Ella, without a hint of kindness. "Yo, are you preparing to interrogate me?"
Ella Bailey looked around with a mocking laugh.
Mr. Bailey's stern face shifted, "Where are the things I asked you to get?"
"How long has it been, dealing with the Dyer family, a broken down household of the weak and sick? If you can't handle even one woman, what use do I have for you?!"
Ella Bailey scoffed, "How would I know what use I am to you? Dad, are you being reasonable? You were the one who forced me to do this job. When did I say I could completely succeed?"
Turning, she sat at the prime seat to her left, "Elsa is also a member of the hidden family! If she doesn't want to hand over her things, what can I do? Besides, I did everything as you instructed. If it's not completed, isn't it because your method was wrong, not mine?!"
"Ella!"
Luke Gill frowned and scolded, "How can you talk to Dad like that?! He's just asking. Was there really a need for such an outburst?"
