Chapter 8
Chapter 8
I waked up to the sun streaming in. I felt the space beside me bring occupied, so I opened my eyes to see who it was.
There slept Alex beside me. And not just him. Kelvin, Harry, Sandra, Veronica, Jack slept on the couch, the other bed and the floor. They were scratched around the whole place. I stared in confusion, not remembering how I came here and what they were doing here.
All I remember was that I was in the coffee when I... Oh.
I was in the coffee when I saw Alex with that blonde girl.
I turned back around to stare at his face.
Why would Alex be sitting with such a bitch?
Who is she?
She can't be his girlfriend, right?
Oh God, please no.
I involuntary yawned, resulting in Alex to wake up.
He blinked as he stared at me then without warning; he pulled me to his lap as he hugged me, tightly.
"Oh God, Jess! I am so sorry!" Alex whispered, seeming a little relieved after a long panic.
"Are you okay? Does it still hurt?" He pulled away a little to look at my face to search for any clue that I am hurting.
"I am fine. Better now." I smiled, trying to assure him.
"You sure?"
"Yeah, really. It was burning yesterday. But it's good now." I said honestly.
Alex stared for a second then nodded slowly.
"Who was that girl?" The question that us been bugging me since yesterday finally came out.
Alex took a deep breath as he answered. "I knew you would ask. That girl was Stacy. My... My ex- girlfriend."
I stared in shock and disappointment and jealousy and sadness and a lot of other nameless feelings.
Alex seemed nervous as he stared at me.
"I was in the coffee shop with her to finish everything. To break up, you know. But she is stubborn and psyco. She thought that maybe you are why I was breaking up with her." Alex said as he put me down on bed and pulled a cover on my body as I lay down.
I stared at the ceiling for a while, thinking how I feel about it all.
First, I and Alex am not a thing. I wish we were but we aren't.
And yes, I finally gave in to my feelings for Alex.
Second, this is past. He broke up with her. I should be happy he is available now.
Which I kinda am.
"And she was right."
I turned around and looked at Alex in confusion. "What?"
"She thought that maybe you are why I was breaking up with her, and she was right."
I stared in another shock at Alex.
"Really?"
"I like you. Here I said it. I like you. And I want you to consider it. That maybe there's a future to us." Alex added another shock to me. But I wasn't frozen for too long as an idea suddenly popped in my head.
"I am going out with Kelvin this week."
With that said, Alex's eyes darkened.
He took a deep breath, saying. "I don't even understand why you like him."
"Because he was there, when nobody else was. He held me in the cold. I felt safe in his arms. And I had no one. He is sweet and caring. And he is a better guy than last time. I don't know what's there not to like." I said truthfully.
Alex stared at me with hurt expression. "Guess I was too late."
I stared at him with the same hurt expression.
Yes, I like Alex. But I like Kelvin too. And he was there when Alex wasn't. And what makes me sure that Alex won't damp me like he did with Stacy when he finds another girl?
"But we are still friends, right?" He asked his seeming to plead me to say yes.
"Absolutely!" I smiled. He smiled back before frowning. Like he just remembered something.
"What did you mean by last time?" He asked.
I shifted uncomfortably. "Uhm-"
"You are awake!"
I looked beside me to find Kelvin rushing to my side.
Phew! Thanks, Kelvin!
"Thank God you are fine." Kelvin said as he hugged. And I couldn't help but feel that warmth of safest I got from that small hug.
But to think about it, the hug that Alex gave me was warm too. Warmer if possible. Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Maybe-
"Thanks for staying, Kelvin." I said sweetly.
"Don't thank me. I had to. I wouldn't be able to sleep if I wasn't beside you." He replied softly.
Alex beside me moved and stood up.
"I will see you later, Jess." He gave me a smile before putting on his shoes as he was wearing the same clothes from last night. Just like the others. And with hat he opened the door and left.
The sound of the door closing behind him seemed to shatter my heart. It was like he was really gone. Gone from my hands.
Oh my... What have I done?
