Chapter 553 Young Girl
The violent yet beautiful woman scared Anna so much that she fell back onto the floor with a thud. What a terrifying woman!
Panicked, she scrambled away, crawling and stumbling, afraid that the fierce woman might kick her next.
In her frantic escape, she crashed straight into Taylor's arms. The moment she saw him, she instinctively trembled.
She no longer trusted him as unconditionally as before-now, there was fear mixed in.
"Stop running around. There are a lot of snakes outside. Didn't you hurt your knee?"
Hearing the scolding laced with concern, Anna suddenly felt like crying.
"Taylor!"
She threw herself into his embrace. "I knew you wouldn't abandon me, right?"
Taylor let out a soft sigh. "Just rest properly. Don't come out again, or even I won't be able to protect you. My family is all lunatics."
"Who is that beautiful woman?"
"She's my mom."
Taylor crouched down. "Come on."
Anna obediently climbed onto his back, letting him carry her back to the room.
Taylor carefully placed her on the bed. Seeing the wound on her knee, his eyes full of distress. "Does it hurt?"
"Yes. Taylor, blow on it."
He bent down and gently blew on her wound. "Are you not mad at me?"
"I know you had no choice. If you really wanted to hurt me, I'd already be dead.
Why would you bother treating my wounds? And why would you take me to see Chloe before leaving?"
Taylor was slightly surprised. He hadn't expected such a young girl to be so clear- headed, able to see through everything.
"That's right. You probably won't get the chance to see her again."
Anna pouted. "Why?"
"The people you knelt before today were our family. They all died because of the Sanders. That's why we seek revenge."
"Then why won't you hurt me?"
"Because you and I are both innocent, Anna. I don't want to drag you into this. I will protect you however I can, even if it means hurting you myself."
Anna's eyes turned red. "So I really can't leave?"
"No. Be good. This island is the best place for you to survive. When my dad is gone, I'll arrange for someone to teach you. You can learn everything, except returning to the Sanders. But I'll make sure you live well."
Taylor gently patted her head. "And grow up well."
From that day on, Anna survived, but at the cost of her freedom.
She knew that if she wanted to see her family again, she would have to endure and adapt.
Taylor became the only light in her bleak world. She had to rely on him to survive.
So, she started behaving. He brought in teachers for her-academics, dance, music, and even finance.
Even though Anna doubted the point of learning all this if she could never leave, he seemed determined not to let her waste her life.
Dominic still harbored some hostility toward her, but he never actually laid a hand on a girl. Regarding Taylor's attempts to educate her, he chose to ignore them.
As for the woman locked in the basement, Anna had gone to see her a few times. She was stunning, like an enchantress.
One day, she proposed a deal-If Anna could steal the key, she would take her away from this cursed place.
Anna was tempted. She was already eight years old. She dreamed every night of returning to the Sanders and seeing her loved ones again.
But three years had passed, and their faces had become blurry in her memory. She barely remembered their features-only their outlines. She only remembered that her name was Anna Sander.
And one day, she would go home.
Taylor had grown into a teenager, shedding his baby fat. He had become tall and slender, his features sharper.
Even Yael no longer needed milk every day.
He adored that beautiful woman. Even though he couldn't undo the chains, he would still climb onto her lap, babbling as he clung to her. "Mom, hug."
But the woman didn't like him at all. She often bared her teeth and scared him, even calling him "little monster."
Yet, he never got upset. Instead, he wrapped his little arms around her neck and smothered her with sloppy kisses.
Every so often, Dominic would return. And each time, he would bring gifts for his family.
Most of them were for the woman-sometimes delicate jewelry, sometimes pastries, sometimes fresh flowers.
She would throw the jewels against
the wall as if they were mere stones, smash the pastries into his face, and crumple the flowers into a ball
before shoving them into his mouth.
They were all sick in some way.
And yet, Dominic still loved her.
IMS
On one trip back, he even brought Anna a pink butterfly hair clip. Anna found him more and more puzzling. What kind of person is he?
Then came that bright and sunny day. He unchained the woman and dressed her in a beautiful outfit Holding both his sons, they took a family portrait together.
The picture of happiness was frozen in time.
But in the very next second, the woman kicked him hard in the leg and bolted.
"Damn monster! I will never love you!"
Anna watched as the beautiful woman leaped into the sea.
"Mom!"
That day, both Taylor and Yael cried.
Anna knew that they all loved that woman, even though she had never loved them
for a single day.
Dominic still saved her in the end. And then, he took her away.
Later, news came of Dominic's death.
Anna thought, That woman is finally free. The chains that bound her had been
broken.
But what about me?noveldrama
She was 12 now.
Taylor had grown nearly as tall as
his dad. His frame was thin, his features sharp with youthful severity. He spoke less and less, and he spent more time away from the
island.
Anna didn't know why, but she still looked forward to his return.
At the very least, he might bring back some news of the Sanders.
Even though she had started to resent the Carlyns, she had no choice but to keep pretending to be obedient.
The day Taylor returned, she ran toward him just like she did when she was little.
"Taylor ...
He caught her effortlessly, one arm wrapped around her slender waist. Looking at
the bright-eyed girl in his arms, he ruffled her hair.
Anna clung to his neck. "Do I get a reward?"
"Hm? What do you want?" His voice was low and husky, tinged with the
roughness of adolescence.
She grinned. "I want a picture of Chloe. It's been so many years. I don't even
know what she looks like anymore."
Taylor's brows furrowed.
She rubbed against his arm, her voice sweet. "Taylor, oh good Taylor, just let me
see, okay?"
She had no idea what she was doing. Her growing body brushed against him, and
in an instant, the tips of his ears turned bright red.
What do you think?
