The atmosphere in Madelyn and Emma's shared office remained gloomy for the entire day. Emma continued looking thunderos, even until the end of the work day.
She had torn up draft after draft that morning, and when the time came for lunch, she looked even angrier to see Madelyn get up and take her bag in preparation to leave. Madelyn could not be bothered to pay any attention to her.
When she reached the underground garage, she spotted Rowan. He respectfully pulled open the door to a Maserati, and a foot in a red high-heeled shoe stepped out onto the ground. It accentuated the owner's slender, fair ankle.
There was the sound of a phone vibrating, and when Madelyn pulled it out. of her bag to look at the number, she saw that it was Andrew. She answered the phone, "Hi, darling. I'm about to go over.
"I can't have lunch with you today. Shall I ask Rowan to send you straight to the studio? Do you want to come to the garage elevator to get it?”
Madelyn looked again toward the Maserati, where the occupant had already gotten out of the car and was walking toward the elevators. She watched Rowan and the woman walk together.Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
From the back, the woman looked tall and slender. She had a business-like bob and was wearing a white shirt and a denim pencil skirt. She carried a vermilion purse that matched her red high heels. "Darling? Darling!" Andrew called twice to her when he didn't get a response from her.
Madelyn couldn't help feeling angry when she saw how much Rowan was pandering to the woman.
He was always so wary when he was around her, as if he were always on guard against Madelyn and Andrew.
Why was he being so smarmy to this woman?
Madelyn's temper flared at once. "Fine, let's not eat, then!"
Before Andrew could react, she hung up angrily. He could have lunch with whoever he wanted.
In the CEO's office at Miller Group, Andrew looked down at his phone, his brows furrowed tightly together. Why was Madelyn throwing a fit?
He had heard the anger in her voice very clearly.
There was a knock on the office door, and Andrew put his phone screen
down on the desk. "Come in."
Rowan opened the door from outside and said respectfully to the woman behind him, "After you, Ms. Laura."
"Thank you, Rowan." Laura smiled gently at him.
Rowan nodded, and when Laura walked in, he made to close the door. However, Andrew stopped him. "Rowan!" "Yes, Mr. Andrew."
"Where did the two of you come up from?"
"The garage. What's the matter? I asked Ms. Laura to drive straight into the garage." Rowan looked confused.
Andrew, however, immediately knew what had happened.
Laura looked uncomprehendingly at Andrew. She was about to say something when he stood up. "You can go and eat with Rowan first."
Rowan had also studied abroad in Felasko, which was where they'd met.
That was why after work hours, the three of them were more casual
around each other.
When Laura saw that Andrew wanted her to go and eat with Rowan first, she raised an eyebrow. "What about you? Andrew, we haven't met for
three years. Whatever important meeting you have this afternoon can be postponed."
"That's right, Mr. Andrew. I'll take care of whatever it is. You should keep Ms. Laura company."
Andrew was irritated. When he thought of Madelyn's attitude on the
phone, he knew that she must have seen Rowan and Laura when she was preparing to come over.
Madelyn was a crybaby and very petty too. She was probably sulking somewhere right now.
When they were in school and she saw any woman talking to Andrew or approaching him, she would burst into tears as soon as they got home. So many years had passed, but that habit of hers hadn't changed at all! However, it didn't annoy Andrew. In fact, it made him feel warm and fuzzy inside. It was a feeling that he hadn't had for a long time.
Ever since she got mixed up with Easton, she had never shown him that kind of attention. Now, the old Madelyn was finally back.
Laura went up to him and tugged on his sleeve. "Andrew, I have something to discuss with you, and I'll be busy after this." Act Fast Free Bonus Time is Running
