Aurora's eyes were icy as she let out a cold laugh. "Aren't you tired of putting on this act, Naomi? Should I grab the security footage to show you the

truth?"

Naomi's face went pale. She clenched her fists, stubbornly replying. "I have no idea what you're talking about. Aurora, are you drunk?"

"Maverick. I didn't sneak out behind your back. Naomi set me up, and Scott tried to force himself on me, Aurora explained, biting her lip.

Worried about his injury, she struggled, trying not to let him lift her.

She hadn't expected him to show up. Under his cold gaze, her heart raced as she was terrified he'd misunderstand:

"It better be true. If you're lying, he won't live to see tomorrow," Maverick said, his eyes flashing with anger, his whole presence radiating menace His jaw clenched as turned to leave, his expression icy.

Howard, following him, glared back at Aurora. "Mr. Parker, what about Scoll?"

Without looking back, Maverick replied, "He came to us. Make sure he won't walk again.

"Yes, sir." Howard nodded.

Aurora followed Maverick out of the club, with Naomi's friends too afraid to stop them. The cool night air helped clear her head.

As soon as Howard settled into the driver's seat, he raised the privacy partition under Magrick's

fierce glare.

Where to, Mr. Parker?" Howard asked.

"The Sage family home," Maverick instructed.

"Sir, maybe we should go back to Cloud Island first. Your condition" Howard

Deep down, he was relieved she'd managed to protect herself. If they weren't getting married tomorrow, he wouldn't let her off so easily.

"Maverick, I'm sorry. Please be okay. Don't listen to Naomi, Aurora pleaded softly.

Maverick's grip on her waist tightened, the pain from the bullet near his heart making him feel like he was close to passing out.

Night had fallen completely by now. Elias and Evelyn stood at the door, anxiously waiting for Aurora and Naomi to return.

Suddenly, a sleek black car roared up, stopping abruptly at the Sage family's gate.

Howard got out, his tall frame imposing. Without acknowledging Elias and Evelyn, he went straight to Maverick's door.

Elias and Evelyn were stunned speechless, realizing who must be inside.

Just then, Maverick stepped out, his handsome face cold and distant

"Mr. Parker, let me help," Howard offered, concerned about Maverick's injury. But Maverick's sharp glare stopped him in his tracks. Ignoring his own pain, Maverick leaned down and lifted Aurora from the backseat.

Aurora wanted to protest, worried about his wound, but she couldn't resist. She clung to his black shirt, feeling a sense of safety in his strong arms.

Aurora! How much did you drink?" Evelyn rushed forward, reaching out to take her.

Elias joined them, eyeing Maverick's grim expression. "Mr. Parker, what happened?"

He knew how risky it was for Aurora to be out drinking so late, especially with someone like Maverick involved. Thinking of the wedding tomorrow, Elias clenched his fists.

"Aurora had a bit of trouble at her bachelorette party," Maverick replied coldly.
