Chapter-71: Past flashes-5
Bernard aroused his body up off the floor and walked to Akira to look at the tiny babies in her arms. He dismissed both the maids from there before ordering them to stay inside the cottage.
"The war was being fought with dishonesty and trickery by them so I had to withdraw and save our people." He glanced at Maya's cold dead body and closed his eyes, tears didn't stop. "They will come for the babies, Kira. They would want to kill the last Lycan pure bloodline. I wouldn't let them harm the babies. I could only do this for Shane now." Bernard whispered hoarsely and took the baby girl from her arms. He smiled at the little girl giving him a toothless smile.
"Ashina Villin whitlock!" He stated with pride. Akira nodded curtly before straightening her body and hugging Lyceon to her chest carefully.
"That's why I had to force the premature delivery out of Maya, Bernard. She was eight months pregnant but I knew we didn't have time because she was losing her life with Shane. The babies could have died. Our first and foremost duty is to keep the babies safe."
Allison looked at the both babies, they were so tiny in their arms. She couldn't imagine what pain and struggles they had to go through all these years without their parents.
"But how can we stop them, Akira?" Minna walked to them with an ashen face. Akira breathed out before looking into the eyes of Lyceon and then glanced at Ashina. She curled her fingers putting the shield around the area of the cottage house.
Then she chanted something in an alien language before closing her eyes and calling the moon goddess loudly.
"I am pleading for the Asylum here, my goddess. Save your children, the Lycan offspring, and grant them the blessing to take their heritage further to end the evil spirits' malicious intention. Grant my wish here, Moon goddess. Accept my sacrifice and grant us the prophecy. I am surrendering my vital powers hereby in exchange for their lives, so acknowledge my sacrifice, Goddess. I beg you." There was an urgency and pain in her voice still she stood confident with Lyceon in her
arms.
Akira stretched her free hand to Bernard who held it without any hesitation. Then she looked at Minna who nodded and took Bernard's hand. They linked their powers together for imploring the asylum from the moon goddess.
"Accept our sacrifices, Goddess. We have lost everything. Now You are the only one who could save these souls. I am surrendering their protection to your guardianship from now. I pledged to my essence to never use my powers again in exchange for their safety. I am transferring my energies and spells as their shelter."
Akira's voice was so powerful and deep that Allison couldn't help but cry at her mother's bravery.
Then she witnessed the light shone brightly from the window of the room before two white balls of light emerged out of it, passed through them and adsorbed onto the twin Lycan's heads.
Akira smiled in gratitude and thanked the moon goddess for accepting their request.
"They will be safe under my spell until they reach the age of shifting and getting their powers. I had linked their souls together."
Bernard bit his wrist before putting his venom into their mouths. One drop of serpent's blood and they became protected by the enemies' touch. The girls looked at him in wonder.
"It will prevent the evils from attacking or hurting the twins as they have venomous blood now and any creature who would try to cut them, bite them or get in contact with their blood anyhow, would get killed brutally." Akira smiled and nodded at him. She gestured to Bernard's mate and passed Lyceon into her arms.
"You and Bernard will bear the responsibility of raising them, Rhea. I am passing this duty to both of you because I can't trust anyone except you guys. Minna and I haven't found our mates yet. You both will lead the remaining pack in the kingdom but keep the existence of the babies a secret. If Keir and Thana get to know about them, they will not sleep a night unless they don't kill them."
Rhea nodded and Bernard embraced Ashina in his arms affectionately while Rhea smiled at Lyceon who was sleeping soundly.
"Don't worry, Kira. They are ours to protect now. Nobody will get to know about them. I promise you."
"I trust you Bernard." She gave him a look of gratitude.
"Nobody will get to pass this shield until I release the spell. So we need to get out and disperse now." She glanced at her two friends before uttering something which was difficult for her to say.
"So...It will be our last meeting, I don't want Keir to get a hold of any of us!"
Minna gasped, she held Akira's arm abruptly. Bernard too sharpened his gaze at her.
"Akira, how could you say this? We are...."
"Friends! That's why I am asking for this last favour from both of you, Bernard, Minna. It's for the safety of the twins. If Keir gets hold of me, you or Bernard he will definitely know about Lyceon and Ashina's existence. And he won't stop hunting any of us after this war. So we need to leave our packs and our current life to an ordinary place where nobody could catch us. We need to leave each other's sides, we need to break all the ties, guys."
Allison could see how difficult it was for her mother when she said this. But it was a rational decision.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Akira kissed the heads of both babies and sighed. She stared at her friends with a rueful smile and nodded. They looked at each other for a good long minute before Bernard passed Ashina to Rhea and hugged both his friends. Akira and Minna shared a group hug with him. He kissed both of their heads and whispered, "Promise me, you both will be safe. Promise me, we will meet again."
Akira closed her eyes and hugged him tightly. "If not in this life, then next life, for sure!" she chuckled, slapping his back like she always does.
"Perhaps you will grow some muscles then!" Bernard sighed and nodded, hugging them for the last time. "I will miss you!"
