Chapter 28
Dante
“Mr. Di Angelo.” I got up abruptly from my seat beside Hailynn’s bed.
Doctor Rogers stood by the door of the hospital room. His face was relaxed with a slight smile on his face. I assume right away that Hailynn is fine. I sauntered towards him while trying to calm myself.
“Your wife is fine and stable now.”
I frowned either way with the news. “Why did she faint? I don’t think this is one of her symptoms, right? This is the first time she fainted.”
“Right. This is due to stress and mild depression. Although this is normal in pregnancy, I still advise you to be careful and take care of her. This is a crucial and delicate stage.” My frown deepened.
Stress? Depression?
“Is it normal for her to be so emotional?” Remembering how she suddenly found me aggravating. I don’t even know what I did wrong. And if I did, how would I know if she won’t tell me?
“Yes, very much so. Although not all pregnant women are experiencing the same thing. Every woman is different when carrying a child. Some would not suffer nausea and vomiting and just feel normal. So I suggest that you must be patient, Mr. Di Angelo, especially that your wife is carrying twins. It’s really not easy for her.” He shook his head in understanding.
He was a man which I’m sure he won’t ever understand but the doctor has obviously got the gist of it. He knows every part of the human body, male or female.
“What about in the future? Will she be okay?” I asked. I’m just so concerned and worried for them. I think my brain is going to burst from overly thinking.
“I can’t say for sure.” His eyebrows scrunched, pondering. “It’s all in her and your hands, and pretty much everyone and everything that surrounds her. Like I said, right now is crucial for her. Take care of her, Mr. Di Angelo. Do not stress her out. The mother and children would appreciate that. Your love and care would greatly reflect when the twins are born.” He smiled at the last part.
After his endless reassurance, I managed to set him free to continue with his work. I also asked him to find another doctor for Hailynn once she’ll give birth. I sure as hell don’t want a man touching her.
Every time Rogers examines her, I feel so antsy like I want to pounce on him and choke him to death. The doctor was still in his early forties. His dick is obviously still pretty active. I scowled at the thought. I need Leo to change Hailynn’s doctor as soon as possible.
I was holding her hand while mindlessly pressing my lips on her knuckles. Suddenly, the said hand slapped my forehead.
“What the hell!” I swiftly got up from my seat to lunge at some bastard only to realise that it was none other than the mother of my children. I instantly sat back down.
“Get your stupid face off my hand.”
“Amore.” My eyes widened as I called her. She groaned as she rubbed her eyes.
“What happened?” While sitting up, making herself comfortable as I help her.
“You blacked out.” I answered in alarm. Did she not remember anything? Did she lose her memory?
“Oh.” She trailed. She then sighed like she was exhausted. I stare at her wondering what to do next. I feel so unstable. I don’t know what to think. I don’t know what to do. I’m so worried about her and the twins.
“We need to talk, Dante.”
I frowned. “Let’s not talk for now. You need to rest. No more stress for you, amore.”
“I need space.”
“What?” I muttered, shocked at what I heard. “Sh-should I go?” I started to get up though with hesitance. I’m pretty sure that’s not what she was trying to say.
“You know what I meant, Dante.” She exclaimed in gritted teeth. I froze. “I think I made a mistake trying to decide without giving it much thought.” What does she mean? “And I thought about it. Maybe we should reconsider being together just because of the babies.”
“What?!” The chair scraped against the floor and fell down hard.
I can’t believe she just said something like that. How could she?! She knows how much I wanted this. What made me even angrier was the fact that she said this in a straight face. Does she not care?
“You’re over your head if you even think about giving you some fucking space? Those children are mine as much as they’re yours. You can’t stay away from me, Hailynn. Not ever.” I growled. I was looming over here. I didn’t plan on scaring her with how much I reacted but I was just so furious.
Hailynn scowled. Tears filled her eyes. This time, nothing tugged my heart. She knew. She knew full well how much I wanted this and yet she deprived me of such thing.
“You just wanted me because of them.” She looked away, holding her tears.
Why does she sound insecure? My eyebrows knitted at what I heard. “You wanted a family… not me.” She whispered the last part. I barely heard it.
I inhaled a lungful of air. It was heavy and I shuddered as I exhaled. I sat on her bed, brushing her thigh against mine. I reached out her face. My palm pressing against her cold cheek.
“How could you say that? Of course I want you.” My voice was soft and warm, trying to reassure her… insecurities.
I know this is her hormones talking. Her change of moods was so obvious and it was affecting me as well. I almost can’t keep up. And now she’s crying when she was mad just a second ago.
“No, you don’t.” She whispered. Her lips trembled.
“I love you, amore mio, cuore mio, vita mia.”
“No, you don’t-” She suddenly whipped her head towards my direction. Her eyes were wide as she looked at me. She gritted her teeth. “No, you don’t!”
I laugh. “You don’t believe me?” Somehow I understood why she’s acting this way. My eyes softened as I poured my heart out to her. “Ti amo, amore. Voglio passare il resto della mia vita con te. You and you only. Il mio cuore è tuo, amore.”Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
[I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. My heart is yours.]
Her head tilted to the side in confusion. Her frown made her even more cuter. “I don’t know what you’re saying. If you want to be understood, maybe you should speak English.” She rolled her eyes sassily.
I chuckled sadly. Her sassiness somehow relieved me. It reminded me of the times we were in my penthouse. “I feel so silly confessing my heart to you but your heart is somewhere else.”
“What are you talking about?” She asked with impatience.
“You love him… and yet here I am.”
“You claim to love me and yet you’re happily having a date with a beautiful woman yesterday.” The venom in her words was enough to poison me and die instantaneously.
My eyes widened in shock. Is this what is all about? “You saw me?”
“Yes.” She hissed. “Luckily, I did. I would have regretted everything for the rest of my life if I have married a manwhore like you.”
Out of spite, I grabbed her around her neck and pulled her enough that our faces were inches apart. Her eyes dilated in fear.
Good. She could still tell how much she angered me.
