Chapter 3523 A Fool
The man crouched in front of the ants seemed completely numb to the pain, giggling foolishly as if nothing had happened.
On the other hand, the man who had kicked him scowled with impatience. "Ain't everyone you see your d*mn sister, you f*cking fool."
But seeing that the fool didn't react, the man lost interest and walked away. He'd only wanted to bully him for a bit, but his lack of resistance made it no fun at all.noveldrama
"Orla... it's safe now... Don't be scared, your big brother's here..." The fool mumbled softly, his slurred words echoing clearly in Matthew's mind.
Matthew's eyes flickered slightly as a distant memory surfaced the old governor of Ore Island had a son and a daughter. Years ago, the governor's older son had mysteriously disappeared. The governor had searched in secret for years, but when his efforts yielded nothing, his grief eventually led to his death. Only after the governor's passing did certain factions dare to grow bold and reckless.
Matthew stepped into the path of the man who had kicked the fool. "I need to ask you something."
The tall man stiffened when he saw Matthew suddenly appear before him, his expression tense with wariness. "What do you want to know?"
"Why is he like that?" Matthew gestured toward the crouching figure against the wall.
The tall man glanced at the fool and let out a snicker. "I thought you were gonna ask something important. You're curious about him?"
Matthew nodded calmly. "How long has he been here? And why is he like that? Also, who's the sister he keeps mentioning?"
Still wary of Matthew's strength, the man answered cautiously, "That fool's been here for over ten years. He's been babbling about his sister since the day he showed up. We've never been able to catch her name clearly. Once, someone vaguely heard him say something that sounded like 'Or,' but that's all we know. Can I leave now?"
The man's eyes flicked to Matthew with guarded anticipation, ready to react if Matthew made a move.
"You can go," Matthew replied simply, stepping aside without further obstruction.
Without hesitation, the tall man quickly walked away, glancing back once before disappearing into the shadows.
Matthew approached the crouching figure at the wall and knelt beside him, examining his face. His skin was caked with dirt, and his matted hair clung together in tangled
clumps resembling dreadlocks
The
fool seemed utterly oblivious to Matthew's presence, still stroking the ants in his palm with a smile of pure delight.
"Orla Lew," Matthew said softly.
For a brief moment, something flickered in the fool's dull eyes—a faint glimmer of emotion buried deep within the haze.
"Sister..." he whispered.
Matthew's brows furrowed slightly. He extended a hand and gently pressed his fingers against the man's forehead.
"This is... a curse!"
A flash of cold light passed through Matthew's eyes as he recognized the sinister energy within the man's body.
This was no work of an ordinary witch doctor's curse. No, this was something far more sinister-the Man-Bug Curse.
The witch clans scattered across the world all carried the tradition of breeding cursed bugs. However, for most witches, these creatures were more than mere weapons-they were lifelong companions raised with care and respect.
But the Man-Bug Curse was different. It involved implanting a cursed bug into a human body, feeding it with blood, and ultimately using that blood to control the bug as if it f it were a tool-regardless of the creature's will. Such a practice was viewed with disdain by most witch clans, who considered it a
perversion of their craft. After all, to them, a cursed bug was more than a weapon-it was family.
Matthew studied the fool's blank expression, his mind racing with possibilities.
It seemed clear now-this man was indeed Orla's long-lost brother. And judging
by the lingering energy within him, that cursed bug had been attached to him for many years...
