Chapter 6 Wishing You a Centuries-long Bliss
Diane Gold
Alicia raised her eyebrows. Her sir name is Gold?
The reason she recognized this woman as the one from the anonymous email was because of the red mole on the collarbone in both pictures.
She glanced over the information, closed the file and put it aside, and resumed her work.
When it was time to go shopping with her mother-in-law, she stopped working and drove to a nearby department store.
Kalinda was having afternoon tea at a restaurant.
When Alicia arrived, Kalinda was arguing fiercely with another woman, her face red and ears burning.
The woman, with her back to Alicia, was wearing a brand-name pink dress and long brown wavy hair.
Kalinda was shouting at her.
"You've taken the money, so why are you still entangled with Edmond? You promised to leave the Arnoford City, but now you've gone back on your word. Aren't you afraid I'll show Edmond those pictures?"
The woman sipped her tea nonchalantly.
"Go ahead and see whether Edmond would believe you or me."
Kalinda was thoroughly angered by her mocking tone.
Just as she was about to retort, she caught sight of Alicia standing in the distance, and her expression suddenly changed.
"Licia, why are you here so early?"
Alicia actually wanted to slip away and come back later, pretending she hadn't seen Kalinda arguing with the woman.
However, she was discovered by Kalinda.
The atmosphere was momentarily awkward.
But the one who should feel most awkward was completely oblivious.
Alicia called out, "Mom," walked over and sat down, lifted her eyes to see the woman's face, and wasn't surprised at all.
It was Diane herself.
The moment the two women came face to face, their gazes simultaneously fell on each other's chests.
Diane and Alicia were stunned.
"Mom, who's this?" She feigned ignorance.
Kalinda hesitated, but Diane was quick to reveal herself.
"I'm your husband's woman."
"Is it true love?"
"Of course."
She crossed her arms, lifted her chin, and appeared quite smug.
Alicia, however, wasn't one to be trifled with. She knew Diane was trying to provoke her, but she refused to take the bait and instead looked at her with a very sympathetic expression.
"You must have had a hard time then. Please bear with it."
Both Diane and Kalinda's faces stiffened.
"What do you mean?"
Alicia's tone was heavy.
"My marriage with Edmond is a contract, and there's no affection involved. But you're different. You have feelings for him. It must be harder for you when he's playing around with other women. I understand your situation, and I feel extremely unfortunate for you."
Diane's face flushed with embarrassment, then blanched with realization.
"Don't think you can dissuade me like this."
"No, no, no, I sincerely urge you not to leave Edmond. You two must stay together for centuries of bliss. Oh yes, if you can, try to exhaust him every day so he won't go to other women. It saves me from having to bless them one by one. How tiring that would be, right?"
Alicia's logic was truly unique.
Not only was her love rival confused, even her mother-in-law was shocked.
In society, it's commonplace for men to have mistresses, especially in the upper circles. Kalinda had seen many official wives fighting with mistresses.
But she'd never seen someone like Alicia, who was supportive of her husband's mistress and wished them to be together forever.
She didn't mind being cuckolded at all?!
"Mom, try to stay focused. You've bumped into five people already."
"Licia, that woman earlier... she's actually an adopted child from my mother's family."
Alicia nodded. She had already guessed.
Seeing her calm demeanor, Kalinda felt a pang in her heart.
As they walked into a jewelry store, Kalinda was distracted. While picking out a gold chain for her daughter-in-law, she took the opportunity to ask, "Licia, do you... not like Edmond at all?"
"This is just a contract, and I'm not too invested."
"When you and Edmond first met, I felt you two were a perfect match. I clearly remember you two seemed to hit it off, but I don't know why you grew to dislike each other. I thought that after you got married, Edmond would settle down. I never expected that Diane would still be entangled with him. Don't worry. I will definitely make Edmond dump Diane when I get back and be nice to only you from now on."
Alicia's fingertips traced the necklace on her neck, her gaze calm. She then calmly removed the necklace without any regret.
"I never hoped to possess things that don't belong to me in the first place."Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
