Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

A Bit Guilt

She knew they were stuck with each other for the next three months, and they needed to find a way to live together, even if they didn’t get along.

Marissa decided to give it time and not let this fight break her determination to make this fake marriage work.

Alexander stormed out of the house and entered his car and drove off. While in the car he dialed Anderson’s number.

“I ain’t gonna continue with this damn fake wedding with that bitch, never!” he told himself as he pressed his phone trying to dial Anderson’s number while driving and calling his number.

Anderson picked up.

“Hey, Alexander. What’s up?”

“Anderson, you won’t believe the way Marissa spoke to me.

She’s impossible. I can’t tolerate her for even a day, let alone three months. This whole thing is a disaster, and I’ve had enough.”

Anderson tried to remain calm.

“I understand, Alexander. Emotions can run high, especially when two people are forced into such an arrangement.

But remember, you can’t afford to lose this contract.”

Alexander couldn’t contain his anger.

“I don’t care about the contract anymore. I’d rather look for someone else, anyone else, to be my fake wife.

This is ridiculous.”

Anderson knew he had to persuade Alexander to stick with the plan.

“Listen, I know it’s tough, but Marissa is our best option. You won’t find someone else who can pull this off as convincingly as she can. Let’s not throw away our chances for success.”

Alexander grumbled, but Anderson continued his reasoning.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

“We’ll find a way to manage their differences, keep things professional, and make it through these three months. It’s just a business arrangement, Alexander.”

After a tense pause, Alexander reluctantly agreed to proceed.

“Fine, we’ll continue, but I don’t have to like it.”

Anderson reassured him, “I’ll support you both in making this work. It’s just a matter of time, and we’ll secure that contract.”

As Alexander hung up the phone, he still seethed with frustration, torn between the need for the contract and his disdain for the fake marriage arrangement.

Just then, his phone rings and he looks at it and realizes that it was Jessie.

As Alexander grappled with his decision to continue the fake marriage, his phone rang, and he saw that it was Jessie calling. His emotions were in turmoil, and he hesitated for a moment before answering the call.

“Hey, Jessie,” he said, his voice trying to convey some semblance of normalcy.

“Hey, Alexander,” Jessie replied. “I was thinking about our relationship and how we’ve been so busy lately.

I miss you, and I think we need to spend more time together.”

Alexander felt a pang of guilt as Jessie spoke. He knew he had been preoccupied with the fake marriage arrangement, and it had taken a toll on their relationship.

“Yeah, you’re right,” he responded, trying to sound sincere. “I miss you too, Jessie. Let’s plan something special soon.”

“Yeah… once I return from my trip, I think we should go somewhere nice and quiet to just be alone. What do you think?” she asked him on the phone.

“Yes, Jessie. That would be really nice. How’s work going over there and when are you coming back?”

Alexander was relieved that Jessie seemed understanding and eager to spend time with him. He knew he needed to make it up to her for being distant lately.

Jessie’s voice on the other end of the line was warm as she replied,

“Work’s been hectic, but it should calm down soon. I should be back in a few weeks. I can’t wait to see you, Alexander.”

“Me too, Jessie,” he said, genuine happiness in his voice. “Just a few more weeks, and we’ll have the quality time we need.”

As they continued talking, Alexander couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief that things were still okay with Jessie. He hoped he could find a way to make their relationship work while managing the fake marriage with Marissa.

“I’ll let you get back to whatever you’re doing. Just remember, I love you.”

Alexander’s heart sank as he replied, “I love you too, Jessie.”

After ending the call, he sat in silence, torn between his commitment to Jessie and the challenging situation with Marissa. The coming months would test his ability to balance his real and fake relationships.

He drove to a bar to get himself something to drink.

This whole fake marriage and Jessie was getting to him and honestly Marissa wasn’t helping him.

Of course he knew he was a piece of work, but she didn’t have to say it to his face even though he knew he also said some mean words to her.

Alexander sat at the bar, nursing his drink and trying to drown out his frustrations.

The dimly lit bar was a welcome escape from the chaos of his current situation.

As he stared into his glass, a young woman in a classy red dress approached him, a charming smile on her face.

She had noticed Alexander sitting alone at the bar and decided to strike up a conversation.

“Hi there,” she said, her voice soft and inviting. “You seem like you could use some company. Mind if I join you?”

Alexander looked up, slightly surprised by her bold approach, and gestured to the empty stool next to him.

“Sure, go ahead.”

She gracefully took a seat, her eyes locking onto his.

“I couldn’t help but notice you sitting here all alone. Is something bothering you?”

Alexander sighed, appreciating the stranger’s concern.

“Yeah, it’s just been a tough day, you know? Work and personal stuff, it’s all a bit overwhelming.”

Her face showed empathy as she leaned in closer.

“I completely understand. Sometimes a good conversation with a stranger can help.”

“Well…. it’s not really something I can say.” he said.

“Try me…” she said.

Alexander hesitated for a moment, debating whether to open up to this stranger.

The dimly lit bar provided a certain comfort and calmness, which made him feel more at ease.

He took a deep breath and decided to share a little.
