Chapter Thirty Nine
Subtitle: My Contract Marriage
Written by: Marvy Hyacinth
Anderson trailed after Alexa and found her cupped up in the toilet crying.
“Why’s she crying?”
He thought.
He’d never felt as dumb as he felt in the last one hour.
Firstly, he forgot to check who was knocking on his door before opening it.
Secondly, he let his mouth fly open in awe and surprise when he saw her, which was a side to him that he hated.
Like… A whole Anderson, arrogant, pompous, and rich hung his mouth open at the sight of an unworthy b! tch?
Phoebe still had that same effect she had on him three years ago, but the hurt of it all was killing his insides.

↝ Three years ago ↜
“Please don’t do this to me, please.”
Anderson begged aloud.
Phoebe looked down at the guy almost down on his knees begging.
“I need to go Andy. My career is at stake here.”
Phoebe replied with disgust in her eyes.
Why would he be begging her not to go on his knees?
He was wrapped up around her little finger, and she made sure she seized every opportunity to show that.
He could go through seven high seas to get her a simple, but a rare gold flower.
“Please, consider me… I’ll give you a good place in my company. I know you love cosmetics and modeling, but I can’t offer you a place in Green cosmetics.”
Anderson explained.
“And why’s that?”
Phoebe rolled her eyes at him.
“Because it’s April’s and she’s damn obnoxious.”
Anderson breathed.
“Then I have no choice but to leave.”
Phoebe rolled her eyes and pouted her lips.
“Please… I’ll get you into any modeling agency you want. Starlight? Street Meg? Cherry? Motion? Mention the agency, and I’ll get you into it.”
Anderson offered broken.
“I’m leaving Anderson. I have to go.”
Phoebe rolled her eyes and replied.
“Why exactly do you have to leave?”
“I’m just 19, Anderson… I have to go sign up in the modeling agency my mom has made provision for in Britain.”
Phoebe answered.
“Is that all? I’ll wait for you till you return.”
Anderson said hoping she’d accept.
“I don’t think I’ll ever return to New York Andy.”
Phoebe broke.Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
“So does this mean there’ll be no us again?”
Anderson asked rising slowly.
“I think so, Anderson.”
Phoebe replied with no hint of sadness in her eyes, voice, or body language.
It was obvious she wasn’t gonna miss him as he would her.
“Alright then.”
Anderson said to her.
“Do whatever you want.”
“My flight’s scheduled for tomorrow morning. I’ll make sure to contact you once in a while.”
Phoebe told me and left.
But that was it.
She never called or texted and whenever Anderson did, she never replied to any of them.
… And here she was telling him she still loved him?
How cheap?!
Back to the present ✿
° Anderson’s POV °
I stood watching Alexa.
She was still bent over her legs, I had no idea if she stopped crying already, but she wasn’t making those sniffling noises she was making earlier.
Meaning she had probably stopped.
I was still looking at her when she stood up, went to the sink, washed her face, and turned to me.
¶ Alexa’s POV ¶
I stopped crying after about three-five minutes of crying and just bent over sniffling, trying to control my eyes from not releasing any more tears and after some minutes I succeeded.
Thinking everything through, I stood up having decided not to allow what happened earlier to affect me anymore and walked towards the sink.
Washing my face, I sighed and looked into the mirror.
My eyes were bloodshot and I was feeling dizzy due to the ache in my head trying to get rid of my senses.
“I’m going to forget any of this ever happened.”
I whispered silently as I ran a hand through my hair. This was going to be hard though.
“I have no other business with Anderson Green, except officially… Of course.”
I whispered over and over again.
Turning off the running sink tap, I turned to walk out of the door and instead saw Anderson standing in front of it.
Has he been watching me all this time?
I asked inwardly.
His eyes were focused on me, and I couldn’t peel mine off him either.
He was staring directly into my eye… Making me feel awkward, so I just switched my gaze to something else.
Suddenly it clicked that I was in his room.
God!
Why did I come up here?
I just hope he didn’t see me cry.
I have to leave.
I made to walk past him, and everything was going great till he called my name.
“Alexa.”
Gosh.
Now I can’t just up and leave.
I turned to him.
“What?”
“Hey… About everything that happened downstairs, I’m sorry.”
He apologized his hand at the back of his hair.
“It wasn’t your fault. I hoped too much.”
I told him.
“Hoped too much?”
He asked statement and paused a bit.
“What did you hope for?”
“Ugh… Nothing.”
“You’re lying.”
He said and walked towards me slowly.
“I’m not.”
I lied.
“OK then. I just want to let you know that girl you saw down there’s my ex… From three years ago. I have nothing with her, I didn’t even know she was coming.”
Anderson explained.
“And you’re telling me this, because…?”
Alexa asked confused.
“Because you ran out when she hugged me and I followed you only to find out you were crying while squatting in my toilet.”
Anderson said.
“That doesn’t mean anything ”
Alexa tried to deny it.
“Oh really?”
“Yeah!”
“Why do I get a feeling you like me huh?”
Anderson put his hand on his chin.
Alexa’s heart froze.
‘He can never find out I’m in love with him.’
She said within herself.
“Ugh, sorry to disappoint you mister, but I don’t in any way like you.”
Alexa lied.
“Oh really?”
Anderson asked with a smirk.
“Yes”
“But I like you”
Anderson said to her and winked after.
“Really? Are you being honest right now?”
Alexa asked with a dreamy look on her face.
“Of course not.”
“What?!”
“I just said that to confirm if you liked me or not… And I was right You do like me.”
Anderson said and laughed mildly.
“Eikk!”
Alexa muttered.
‘How much longer are you gonna be stupid Lexie?’
She asked herself.
“I’ll catch you later.”
Anderson said.
“Are you going out?”
Alexa asked.
“Yeah. I have to go take care of a business.”
Anderson announced and thinned his lips.
“Alright.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow then.”
“Yeah.”
Alexa replied.
She’d decided she wouldn’t let Jace suffer because of someone she didn’t know.
She wouldn’t quit her job.
Anderson gave her a small smile before turning his back on her and leaving.
“Things are going to get tough.”
Alexa muttered before following after Anderson.
He was leaving, so she had to leave with him.
His door was locked and could only be unlocked by him.
