Married to the Boss: A Love in Disguise Chapter 8

Catherine said, “Adam…”

She still didn’t know him well enough.

Adam hung up the phone and said, “Grandma, have a good rest. I’m going back to Red Pine City.”

Looking at his tall and lonely back, Catherine realized for the first time that she seemed to have done something wrong.

She didn’t want Adam’s marriage to be an exchange of benefits like his parents, so she found a girl of ordinary background for him. She hoped their relationship could be clean and pure, but she ignored that a good marriage needed affection for each other.

It was going on midnight. Lumma was awakened by a call when she was soundly asleep.

She fumbled for the phone in a daze. When she saw “Mr. Hills” on the screen, she became sober instantly.

Lumma sat up and answered the phone respectfully, “Mr. Hills.”

There came a strange man’s voice. “Mr. Hills is drunk. Come to Kells Bar and pick him up.”

“Who are you?” At that moment, Mr. Hills should be with Mrs. Hills.

How could he get drunk in Kells Bar?

Moreover, it was a strange man who called Lumma with Adam’s phone.

“I’m Simon. Come here quickly.” Then, the phone was hung up.

Simon was the son of the Mills family, and the Mills family was one of the four great families in Red Pine. Lumma knew Simon was Adam’s close friend.

Adam was drunk. As his personal assistant, Lumma was responsible for picking him up.

Lumma immediately changed into her work clothes and hurriedly took a taxi to Kells Bar, daring not to delay.

Kells Bar was one of the top membership-only clubs in Red Pine, and ordinary people couldn’t get Simon had told the staff. Therefore, when Lumma got out of the taxi, someone greeted her and guided her to the door of a private room. “Ms. Louis, Mr. Mills and the others are inside.”

Lumma thanked the waiter and went in after knocking on the door. She saw two couples sitting on the sofa drinking and Adam sitting in the corner alone. An almost-finished cigarette was held by him.

The eyes of the four of them turned to Lumma immediately. They looked at her narrowly.

“Are you Adam’s new assistant? You look so pretty. It’s a pity to be by his side.”

The person who spoke was Simon. Lumma saw his photos online, so she recognized him.

Simon was handsome and had a wealthy family. Therefore, his rumors were trending topics every day. The female celebrities he had dated were too many to count with hands. He was a famous playboy in Red Pine.

Although Simon spoke frivolously, Lumma greeted him politely, “Mr. Mills, I’m here to pick up Mr. Hills.”

Simon held the woman next to him tightly and gently shook the wine glass. “Ms. Louis, do you have a boyfriend?”

Simon looked Lumma up and down as if she was an article. Lumma was disgusted with his eyes.

“It’s my private business.”

Simon smiled. “If you don’t have one, I can be your boyfriend.”

“Sorry, Mr. Mills. I’m not interested in you.” Lumma hated rich guys like Simon, who wanted to sleep with every woman they met. If he wasn’t Adam’s friend, she wouldn’t bother to talk to him.

Being rejected, Simon was not annoyed and smiled. “If you are not interested in me, are you interested in Adam?”

Hearing that, Lumma was afraid that Adam might misunderstand. Then, she would lose her high- paying job.

She subconsciously glanced at Adam. Fortunately, he was smoking and didn’t seem to have noticed her.

Simon said with a smile, “Why don’t you speak? Have I guessed right?”

“Mr. Mills, is it difficult to respect others?” Simon was so narcissistic that he thought all women liked rich men like him. If he were out of his family, he might not be as excellent as her.

“Adam, your new assistant is courageous. Who gave her the courage?” Another man spoke. And he looked at Lumma unfriendly.

Lumma didn’t know the man but thought he was Stewart, the son of the Morris family, another family of the four great families.

The four great families in Red Pine were led by the Hills family. The other three were the Hills family, the Morris family, and the Lynn family.

Adam, Simon, and Stewart were about the same age. It is said that they played together since they were young, and their relationship was close.

“I gave her. Why?” There came Adam’s deep voice, and everyone’s eyes turned to him. He slowly pressed the finished cigarette end into the ashtray.

Simon hurriedly said, “Okay…”

Stewart glanced at Lumma with hostility.

Lumma was confused. It was the first time she met Stewart, and they didn’t know each other. She didn’t know where his hostility came from. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

Lumma didn’t bother to talk to them anymore and went to Adam. He smelled of alcohol but was not drunk because his eyes were clear.

Lumma said softly, “Mr. Hills, do you want to go back?”

Adam looked up at Lumma, “Who told you to come?”

Lumma replied honestly, “Mr. Mills called me to pick you up.”

Adam looked at Simon. Simon laughed and said, “Adam, life is short. You should have fun in time so that it is worthwhile to come to this world.”

Adam glanced at Simon with displeasure. Simon stopped laughing. “You asked me to call the driver. I think I have dialed the wrong number.”

Adam didn’t believe Simon’s nonsense but didn’t bother to argue with him. Adam stood up and walked out, and Lumma hurriedly followed.

When they were about to leave, Simon shouted in a sharp voice, “Ms. Louis, if you are looking for a boyfriend, you should pay attention to someone as handsome and practical as me. Mr. Hills is good for nothing.”

Lumma said nothing.

She felt that Simon was trying to offend Adam.

When they went out of Kells Bar, Lumma saw the black Bentley parked at the entrance.

Emma opened the car door for Adam and waited for him to get into the car. Then, she got into the cab. “Mr. Hills, where are you going?”

As far as Lumma knew, Adam had several residences in Red Pine. All of them were expensive mansions.

Adam said, “Hanks”

Ranks House was a famous high end sea view house in Red Pine. Its price was prohibitive, but Adam had several houses there.

“Okay.” Lumma immediately started the car and drove away from Kells Bar.

In the dead of night, there were few vehicles on the road, and they arrived at Hanks House soon.

Lumma parked the car and got out of the car to open the door for Adam. “Mr. Hills, we’re here.”

Adam got out of the car. He staggered and almost fell…

Lumma reached out to help him. When she touched his hot body, she was shocked. “Mr. Hills, what’s wrong with you?”

As they got closer, Lumma realized that Adam’s face was extraordinarily red. It was more like an allergy instead of drinking too much.

“Help me in. There is medicine at home.” Adam didn’t have the strength to stand upright, and his weight fell on Lumma.

Lumma was more fragile than Adam, so she made great efforts to help him walk to the elevator.

Fortunately, the elevator went directly to the home, and they arrived quickly.

Lumma helped Adam into the room and let him sit on the sofa. “Mr. Hills, where is the medicine?”

Adam pointed. “Over there. The second grid. The red pills.”

Following Adam’s finger, Lumma found the red pills he mentioned and poured him a glass of water.

“Eat it. You will be fine.”

Seeing her anxious appearance, Adam smiled. “Lumma?”

He seldom called her by name. His voice was pleasant to hear. When he was drunk, it was even more fascinating.

Lumma nodded. “Mr. Hills, what can I do for you?”

Adam said, “I don’t like your name.”

Lumma said nothing

Her name was given by her grandma. She thought it sounded good. She didn’t know why Adam didn’t like it.

Lumma thought Adam was drunk. “Mr. Hills, you’d better not talk. Take medicine first.”

Adam took the medicine and said, “Can you make a cup of coffee?”
