Chapter 17 Are you done ogling?
Emma turned her head and spun around.
William had just come out from the bathroom with only a towel wrapped around his waist, and his wet
hair was still dripping water.
Emma's mouth drops at the sight. William's body was built like a Greek statue, perfectly chiseled abs
and her eyes lowered…
"Are you done ogling?"
William stared at her, his eyes slowly falling to her chest, and he smiled coldly. "Do you just take your
clothes off in front of men now?"
Emma suddenly got her senses back. She exclaimed in surprise and clenched her shirt tightly.
William Montgomery looked at her with disdain. He looked away and reached for his bathrobe.
Emma Lang was so embarrassed and said, "Sorry! I didn’t know this was your room."
"Do you know that this is my house?" William retorted back.
"How long do you plan to just stand here?"
This made her speechless.
She snapped back to reality and hurriedly picked up the clothes on the bed and rushed out.
When Emma disappeared and the door closed behind her, William slowly breathed out. His chest
suddenly heaved and he clutched the bathrobe tightly in his hands.
After changing into the bathrobe, William Montgomery sat down by the bed and pulled out a pack of
cigarettes from the drawers. Just then, the sound of the phone vibrating on the nightstand alerted him.
It was Emma's phone. She had forgotten to take it with her.
The name 'Baby' on the caller display made William's eyes darken. His long fingers hovered over the
screen and hesitated for a second before he pressed the answer button.
A soft voice came from the other end of the line. "Mommy, when are you coming back today? I want to
eat a cupcake! Nathan won't let me eat any!”
Emma opened the door with one hand. "Sorry, I must've forgotten my phone..." When she saw William This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
holding her phone in his hand, her expression changed. She almost instantly rushed to him, grabbed
her phone and quickly hung up.
William looked at her with a deep gaze and said, "You're married with children?"
Emma took two steps back and bumped into the bed.
William walked closer to Emma, his eyes were deep and bottomless, "Who are you married to? Alex?"
"None of your business, William." Emma tried to leave. She didn't want William to know about the
children.
"Is this the reason why the Lang family kicked you out? Right?”
William grabbed her wrist. Her phone slipped and slammed onto her foot. The sudden pain had her
staggering and falling to the bed.
William fell to the bed with her, his hands on either side of her head. The smell of the shower gel
pervaded, mixed with the faint tobacco smell. Their noses were so close that it almost looked like they
were going to kiss. Emma could feel a blush creeping up her cheeks.
Emma came back to her senses and pushed on William''s chest and said, "You...what are you doing?"
The man's brows twitched as he tightened his grip on her shoulder. "You think you're so good at
manipulating men, don't you? You can just bat your lashes and men will fall under your feet?”
"I didn't think like that at all."
"But you do it anyways."
William's voice turned deep and husky, it sounded almost…sexy.
Emma looked into William's eyes. For a moment she thought she saw something. Was it pain that
flashed across his eyes?
The droplets of water from his hair rolled down and fell on Emma's neck. They slid down her
collarbone. The cold sensation made her come back to reality. She said, “William Montgomery, should I
remind you that you are the one getting married?”
The word 'married' made William regain clarity, at the same time, the pain disappeared from his eyes
and was replaced by the familiar coldness. He pressed on Emma's shoulder even tighter.
Emma was in pain as her delicate brows furrowed. She still didn’t give an explanation because she
didn't want to explain to him at all about her children and her nonexistent love life.
William was annoyed by her silence, but he finally let her go.
"Get out of my room."
His voice wasn't loud but his voice was so chilly that Emma shivered. The temperature in the room
seemed to have dropped.
Emma gritted her teeth and picked up her phone to run away.
This time, she slammed the door behind her.
Two worlds, separated by a single door.
