Chapter 15
Margot's eyes went wide with shock, and Wendy looked just as stunned.
Who would have thought that the low-key, hardly noticeable Selena was Ink and Insight's famous lead journalist known as S?
With a sly grin, Selena headed towards the door. As she brushed past Margot, she paused momentarily and added, "Don't even dream about getting featured in Ink & Insight ever again."
Back in her car, Selena pulled out a pen, clicked the cap, and Margot's brazen words echoed loud and clear.
As a journalist, she was used to recording conversations for work. It helped her organize material later. But this time, she did it on purpose.
She planned to sue Everett for cheating, and he challenged her to show proof. Well, wasn't this just a gift on a silver platter?
A knock on the car window startled Selena, and there stood Margot, sporting sunglasses.
Selena rolled down the window, giving her a sideways glance.
In a hushed tone, Margot sneered, "Selena, do you really think you can hold onto the Mrs. Bennett title forever? Everett said what happened last time was just a wake-up call. If you don't catch on, it won't just be one man seeking your pleasure next time." Selena's face went ashen, her eyes filled with a fierce resolve, as if ready to tear Margot apart.
Despite the chill running down her spine from Selena's glare, Margot managed to walk away with her head held high.
Selena felt a cold wave wash over her, a painful ache in her heart.
Honestly, if a mistress dared to be this bold in front of the legitimate wife, it was only because Everett allowed it. He never treated Selena as his wife, so naturally, others didn't respect her either. It seemed like anyone could step all over her. Sitting in the driver's seat, watching the endless stream of traffic, Selena felt more alone than ever in the bustling world.
After what seemed like forever, her phone buzzed.
Joy had sent a message, proposing they celebrate her newfound path in life with a lavish dinner, followed by karaoke and clubbing until they dropped.
Eager to let off some steam, Selena quickly replied: [Send me the address.]
...
While the Kesler family might not have been as prestigious as the Bennetts, they had plenty of wealth. Thanks to their family ties with the Bennetts, their status was nothing to sneeze at.

Naturally, Joy was a bona fide rich kid, living a life of luxury.
So, when she suggested meeting at the top hotel in Newport, Selena didn't think twice before heading over.
The restaurant was on the top floor.
As soon as she stepped out, she spotted a man front and center, with godlike features, dark eyes, broad shoulders, and long legs tha stood out
Who else could it be but Everett?
Already quite the heartthrob, today he looked even more irresistible in a custom black tailcoat, exuding a charm that was hard to ignore.
Sensing Selena's gaze, Everett looked her way, not at all surprised, even wearing a slight smirk.
Selena suddenly remembered Derick mentioning a business dinner here. What were the odds?
She noticed Everett's amused demeanor, realizing he clearly mistook her verbal refusals for actual interest. Without a word, Selena turned on her heel and walked away, treating him like he was invisible.
Everett's handsome face darkened, and after quickly wrapping up his conversation, he strode after her.
Just as Selena was about to step into the elevator, he caught her wrist, pulling her out and dragging her to the end of the corridor.
"Selena, there's a limit to this act. Play with fire too much, and you'll end up getting burned."
Everett thought he'd given her enough chances, yet she continued to test his patience.
