Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 617

Originally, Selena had it all figured out-she was going to spend a cozy, heartwarming Christmas with Everett once she got here. After all, despite their on-again, off-again relationship over the past six years, they hadn't really gone on many proper dates. How could she not look forward to it?

Lost in her daydreams, she was suddenly brought back to reality when someone settled into the seat across from her. Selena lifted her gaze, and even though she was used to Everett's stunning looks, she found herself momentarily taken aback by the man before her.

This guy had striking features a pair of sharp, captivating eyes, a strong nose, and a rugged charm that was only enhanced by a small break in his right eyebrow. It added a touch of raw masculinity to his allure. A man like this could easily make a woman's heart flutter. He didn't seem like the type who'd cling to a woman for her money, though.

Unfortunately, Selena wasn't in the mood to appreciate beauty right now. In fact, she was irritated by the sight of him and didn't bother hiding her displeasure at his uninvited presence.

"If you're looking for a sugar mama, try somewhere else."

The man seemed to catch on to her misunderstanding and flashed a cheeky grin, offering no explanation, just saying, "I'm not a bad guy."

Do bad guys announce themselves with a sign saying 'bad guy'? Ridiculous.

Selena wasn't buying it. She sipped her coffee, treating him as if he were invisible. She figured he'd get the hint and leave once he realized she wasn't interested.

Unexpectedly, he stuck around. As if to prove he wasn't up to no good, he pulled out a card case from his suit pocket, took out a business card, and handed it over.

A platinum business card-pretty swanky.

Selena took a quick look and was surprised to see that he was a lawyer.

She smirked, "Is the legal profession so down-and-out these days that you have to sell yourself?"

Her words were cutting, hoping to shoo him away.

But the guy was cooler than she expected. He didn't even flinch; he just smiled, "I'm quite good at what I do. Who knows, you might end up reaching out to me one day."

A smooth talker, for sure. He was unfazed and confident, a real charmer.noveldrama

Selena lost her patience, her expression turned icy, "I'd prefer if you vanished now and stopped bothering me."

The man didn't push it. He stood up, and before leaving, he added, "There are plenty of good men out there; no need to stress over the wrong ones.'

And with that, he walked away gracefully.

After that little encounter, Selena's mood for coffee was completely gone. Outside, couples were

everywhere, looking so blissfullynet

happy, which only made her feel

even more alone. She might as well head back to her room.

Just as she was about to pay and leave, another figure took the seat across from her. This time, it was someone she knew-Yasmine.

Selena eyed Yasmine closely. She

hadn't seen Yasmine many times, but each time, Yasmine seemed to have undergone a complete transformation. From being invisible, е silent, and timid, Yasmine had turned into someone draped in luxury, radiating confidence and arrogance, like a whole new person.

Indeed, a little wealth and male attention could sure change a person.

Yasmine placed her limited-edition Hermes bag on the table and

ordered a mocha. Her mannerisms, though slightly overdone in an attempt to mimic a socialite, were certainly a step up from her

previous, more rustic demeanor.

"Selena, let's have a chat."

Not even bothering with pleasantries, Mrs. Bennett-who didn't bother using Selena's full name-was clearly here for business.

Selena wasn't fazed. She sat there calmly, not as flustered as Yasmine might have expected, and with an air of indifference, she simply tossed out a few words, "You've got five minutes."
