The Past II
CHAPTER 44: The Past II
– LIA –
CARRYING my cat, Pochi, on my one hand, I grabbed Kelleon’s arm and pulled him towards their house. I dragged him to that place, wanting to show something to him.
“Woah, slow down, mi amor,” Kelleon told me while we were running on the road of the subdivision.
I hushed him down and ran faster. Pochi started meowing in my arms. The house isn’t that far from where we came from, so it didn’t take us a long time to arrive.
“Good afternoon, my lord, my lady,” the maids and guards of the Gonzales Family greeted us when we entered.
I smiled at them while running. The head maid of the house, together with Cloud, opened the main door as we rushed inside.
My feet stopped when we already reached our room. I put Pochi down and let my boyfriend’s arm go.
“That thing is just right here,” I muttered while opening the drawers that have my things inside.
Kelleon walked beside me and looked inside the drawers. “What thing are you looking for, mi amor?” he asked. “I can help.”
I put my index finger on his lips. “Shh. Shh. Let me do this. I can find it myself,” I said before opening the drawer that has my handmade bags inside.
I looked into every bag to find that thing. Thankfully, after opening three of those bags, I already found it.
“Here!” I exclaimed excitedly while showing Kelleon what I found.
His eyes widened when he saw what I am holding. Kelleon even blinked a lot of times, as if he can’t believe what’s in front of him.
“This is yours, right?” I asked, handing him the wallet.
He slowly raised his hand and touched the wallet I’m holding. I let it go when it is already in his hand. Kelleon opened the wallet by unbuttoning it and sliding the zipper, revealing what’s inside.
“I didn’t use the money. I think those are still yours. I didn’t use the card, either. That’s because I don’t know how,” I explained.
Kelleon counted the bills inside. “Thirty-two thousand pesos,” he said before looking at me. “You really didn’t spend any of this?”
“You still remember the amount inside your wallet?” I asked back, even if I know that Kelleon has a sharp memory.
He chuckled. “I told you that these are already yours, right? Why didn’t you use it?”
I pouted and put my hands in my waist. “Because it’s not mine!” I answered. “I don’t accept money from strangers, unless I was the one who asked. And I won’t accept money from strangers, especially if the amount was a lot!”
He grabbed the two black cards from the wallet and smiled. “So this is why they informed me that these cards are already dormant,” he said.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. “Dormant? What do you mean?”
He placed it back inside before answering. “When you didn’t use a card for a long time, it will became dormant and locked. You need to purchase using the card to avoid that.”
“Oh,” I reacted, scratching my nape. “I didn’t know about it, hehe.”
Suddenly, Kelleon grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him. Our bodies touched and he caged me using his arms. His hands were placed on my back as he placed a kiss on my forehead.
I heard him chuckling so I looked up at him while he was swaying our bodies.
“What’s with the laugh?” I asked while pouting because I thought that he was laughing at me.
He pursed his lips. “I just realized that I became dumb when it comes to you,” he answered.
My furrowed eyebrows raised. “Huh? What did I do?”
Kelleon sat on the bed and placed me on his lap. I straddle him and encircled my arms on his neck, while his hands rested on my waist.
“When I first met her, I didn’t even checked if she was really you,” he said.
I think that he means Denisse when he said ‘her’. I want to ask more questions, but I decided to let him talk.
“A week after I saw you in VGC, I tasked my men to find you. However, Cloud and I became so busy that I wasn’t able to monitor their search,” he added.
My eyes widened. “You searched for me?” I asked while pointing myself. “Why?”
He smiled softly. “I want to marry you,” he answered.
I tried to hide my blushing face. My face heated up and my mind suddenly created scenarios of me and Kelleon getting married.
“But you don’t even know me… We just had a short interaction,” I answered. “What makes you think that I’m that right woman?”
Kelleon cupped my face and stared at me lovingly. “The first time I laid my eyes on you, my heart knew that you’re the one. You made me feel things that I haven’t felt before. You made me concern on how I look even if I already look perfect in my eyes. You made me question my personality that I have to improve myself. You made me strive more for my dreams,” he answered and gave me a kiss.
“Actually, that was not the first time I saw you,” he added. “The first one is on the road. You were on a jeepney and I was on my car. I was thankful that I wasn’t the one driving back then. I would’ve hit something since I’m staring at you unconsciously.”
“At first, I thought that was a sudden attraction and it will go away. But I was wrong,” he chuckled and caressed my face. “You stayed on my mind every second of the day. I can’t even sleep without thinking of you and imagining that you’re beside me.”
“I told myself that if I see you again, I will take my shot. If we didn’t, then maybe, we’re not meant to be. Months after that, I saw you again. In VGC this time.”
“My plan on approaching you was turned into waste because I was nervous. I don’t want to look awkward in front of you. But I can’t let that day pass without you noticing me, so I intentionally dropped my wallet near you.”
My mouth formed an o-shape. “You really dropped that?” I asked.
He nodded. “It sounds so petty, but yes. I did that on thinking that you will notice me.”
I pinched his cheeks and I felt the warmth in it. I leaned towards him and kissed his lips.
“When I saw you again in Spain, I didn’t think twice to make you my girlfriend. I didn’t even checked if that’s you. When I saw your face, my feelings for you suddenly came rushing,” he continued on speaking. “Even though I noticed that something was wrong, I didn’t think about it. My mind was conditioned on giving everything that you want and shower you with my love, so that you won’t leave me.”
“I want to marry you, as soon as possible, that time. But Mama stopped me. She said that I was being impulsive that I didn’t notice that you, I mean, Denisse, is just staying for my money. That I didn’t notice how bad her character is.”Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
He let out a sad laugh. “I got mad at Mama. I thought she was just doing that because you didn’t come from a nobel family like ours. But we compromised that I will marry her when she already got a permanent job and prove herself to my parents.”
Kelleon stopped talking and hugged me. He buried his face on my chest, like he was earning his strength from that.
“I’m thankful that I listened to Mama. Bad things happened because of that, but it was all worth it,” he looked up at me. “I met you again, and you finally became mine. I forgot the pain of yesterday because of you, mi amor.”
I cupped his face. “I will make sure that you will never feel pain because of me. I will take care of you. I will love you, cariño.”
Slowly, he put me down go bed and lay down beside me. He turned himself to the side so that he can face me. His arms encircled on my waist.
“When Denisse left me, she gave a letter,” he spoke.
I nodded. “Yeah. I saw that,” I answered. I looked to him before asking. “I remember, on the last part of the letter, she wants to meet you. What happened after that?”
His eyes looked sad while staring at me. His breaths became heavy. It took him a long time to answer.
“We met and talked inside her car, the one I gave to her. She gave me one last chance to marry her. I told her that I want her to be successful first, or at least get a job, or just be somehow nice to others. I already made a promise to Mama and I don’t want to break that,” he answered.
“Denisse told me that she already have a job and investment. She said that she will just grab the proofs from her house, which was also from me. I insisted to go with her but she told me to just stay and she will be back. Since the house is just nearby, I trusted and believed her.”
He stopped talking. Kelleon’s grip on my waist became tighter. He sighed several times and cleared his throat.
“She didn’t come back. Instead, the whole car I’m in bursted,” he continued. “I didn’t feel any pain while I was burning. I saw my skin being burned and everything around me is on fire. I thought I was going to die that time.”
A lone tear fell from my cheeks. “Is she the one who bombed that car?”
Kelleon nodded, making me more furious to that woman. “Papa saw from a CCTV that it was her who planted the bomb.”
I caressed his hair. Pain suddenly entered my body. My heart became heavy and my mind made pictures of Kelleon burning.
I shook my head and closed my eyes.
“But you recovered,” I gave him a smile even though I feel so sad for him.
“Yeah, I did,” he answered. “But it took me a year to recover.”
He touched my hand and placed them on his chest while intertwining.
“When I woke up, I found out that I was comatose for months. I thought the nightmare will end there, but I was wrong.”
Kelleon kissed my the back of my head. He let out a heavy sigh.
“I couldn’t move. I couldn’t even lift a finger,” he spoke. “I was paralyzed. I couldn’t even talk.”
He closed his eyes like he doesn’t want me to feel his pain. I cupped his face and whispered ‘it’s okay’ on him while calming him down.
“I felt so useless. The first thing I thought of when I woke up is you, betraying me and making me like that. I felt too much anger towards you, that my motivation to be better is to get revenge.”
“It took me another year to walk again. When that happened, I didn’t waste any time and searched for you immediately. My men told me that you’re in Barcelona, so I went home to look and seize you,” he explained.
“That’s where you met me,” I said. Now, the pieces of the puzzle are coming together. His reaction when he saw me in Barcelona now makes sense.
At first, I thought that his reason is too shallow for him to be that angry. But after hearing everything that happened to him, I realized that he went through a lot.
He looked so tough from the outside, but his insides were all damage because of that woman.
And I’m here to fix it.
“I’m sorry. I shouted and hurt y-”
I shushed his mouth by locking our lips. It was a deep, passionate kiss. I poured all of my love into that, covering up all of the pain and hardship he went through.
“You don’t have to apologize,” I said when our lips separated. “I understand where you’re coming from. You’re feelings are valid. Besides, you already make up for it.”
He gave me a smile of relief. “Te amo, mi amor.”
I gave him a peck of kiss. “Te amo tambien, cariño.”
I hugged him and we cuddled. Before falling asleep in his arms, thoughts of choking Denisse to death came into my mind.
I will bury you and dance on your entrails, bitch.
