the dormitory.
This place was so cozy and perfect.
But, of course, what made it all the more enticing for Anne was the attractive men Hurst had mentioned
to her. 'Maybe I'll meet someone special later at the opening ceremony!'
Thinking of this, Anne felt giddy with excitement.
Later that night...
The Royal Magic School's opening ceremony had started!
The principal's voice echoed through the campus. Standing in the crowd, Anne couldn't help but yawn
out loud.
'This is so boring!' Anne complained to herself. 'I'd rather just go home now than to listen to this
headmaster's boring speech.'
All of a sudden, an idea came to her, and she looked at Hurst beside her with pitiful eyes.
"What's wrong?" Hurst said in a low and cold voice, noticing his sister's eyes were intently on him.
"Can I go to the bathroom? I'll be back as soon as possible!" With a flattering smile at the corners of
her mouth, Anne looked at him and batted her lashes.
"Yeah, go. Make it quick," he replied, clicking his tongue impatiently.
"Okay!" With that, she quickly disappeared from his sight like a gust of wind.
Looking at her receding figure, Hurst sighed heavily. He knew his sister well enough to know that she
wasn't going to come back like she had promised. In fact, there was no one else in the world who knew
Anne better than he did.
Gritting his teeth, he was starting to get a headache the more he thought about Anne. At some point,
he started to regret that he took her to the Royal Magic School in the first place. But, those thoughts
were instantly eliminated when he thought about how Anne would not be able to take care of herself at
home.
As it turned out, Anne really went to the washroom. However, when she came out, she saw a building
that was higher than all the other buildings in the school.
There was nothing about this place that was special to her. At least not yet. All the people she had
walked passed by so far weren't that special either.
But now, seeing that tall building made her eyes shine with excitement. If she could get up there, she
might be able to touch the stars in the night sky.
With newfound determination, Anne quickly walked towards the building.
Twenty minutes later!
Anne gasped for breath, feeling undeniably exhausted. Finally, she was able to get to the topmost floor.
At this time, she felt a bit regretful that she didn't study magic that well. If she had done, it wouldn't
have been this difficult for her to climb! But now was not the time for regrets since she had reached her
goal.
With a satisfied smile, Anne looked up, eager to enjoy the fruits of her labor. There, she saw that eaves
were big and wide, like a large umbrella. Much to her dismay, it blocked the view to the sky entirely!
‘What an awful design! Such a waste of a potentially beautiful scenery,' Anne thought.
With a shrug, there was really nothing else much she wanted to do there. In the next second, she
lightly jumped on the roof.
"Ha-ha! It worked!" she cheered in delight. Even though she was not skilled in magic, she definitely had
some tricks and spells under her sleeve.
Finding a comfortable position, Anne laid down and looked at the stars.
She put her hand on the back of her head and squinted slightly. The stars looked like they were
blinking at her in chorus.
Climbing up this high made her feel pleasantly surprised in herself. However, she was still far away
from the stars. 'Don't be so arrogant, lovely stars,' she sang in her heart. 'Once I master my magic
skills, I'll finally be able to hold you on my fingertips!'
Taking a deep breath in, she enjoyed the tranquility of the night, the moonlight softly shining on her
face.
A cool wind blew gently, making a crisp sound in her ears that filled her with happiness.
"Mr. Brice, be gentle! It hurts!" At this moment, a coquettish voice came through under the eaves. The
woman begged for mercy in between her short gasps.
"It hurts, you say? Don't you like it?" Although his magnetic voice was gentle, it was still incomparably
cold.
Hearing these two voices, Anne frowned, her quiet moment on the roof getting disrupted.
Shuddering, she couldn't help but feel disgusted at how they sounded.
'Mr. Brice? That bastard again?
Why do I have to cross paths with that jerk again!
I was having such a nice and peaceful evening up here by myself!' Anne thought to herself with anger.
Thinking of this, she decided to go down to have a look. Then, she thought it might be a good idea
sneak up on them and give them a fright, just so that she could get revenge for what Brice did to her
earlier today.
However, as soon as she rose to her feet, she lost her balance and slipped down the roof!
"Aaah!" Anne screamed helplessly. Her eyes were tightly shut.
In the few seconds she was falling, she kept thinking how much trouble she was about to get into.
Her shrill scream inevitably caught the couple's attention.
Raising their head, they saw a black figure quickly coming down towards them.
Thinking quickly, Brice pushed away the woman he was with.
Just when he was about to make his retreat, it was already too late. Anne had landed right on top of
him.
Brice and Anne hit the floor, both of the grunting in pain.
"Mr. Brice! Are you okay?" the frightened girl asked worriedly, hesitating on whether or not to help him
up.
After a long time... Anne's eyes fluttered open as she finally came to her senses.
Moving around slightly, she was surprised to find that not a single part of her body got hurt from the
impact.
'Huh! Why do I feel okay after falling from such a high place?
Maybe my magic is getting better quicker than I thought it would!'
Just when she was starting to feel proud of herself, a man's angry roar came from under her. "Ugly
woman, get off me!"
Surprised, Anne leapt up on her feet. It was only then did she realize that she had actually landed on
Brice.
"You... Why are you even here in the first place!" Anne snapped at him, crossing her arms over her
chest.
"What are you...
I should be asking you that question!" Brice stood up from the ground and glared at her.
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean? I was here before you were!" she retorted, raising her eyebrows
at him.
"What did you say, ugly woman? Dare you say that again?" Brice snarled as he walked towards her
menacingly.
It was hard to understand why Anne would even try to provoke Brice like that yet again. However, now
that he was approaching her with a murderous glare in his eyes, she couldn't help but back down.
"Oh, I'm sorry to interrupt you. It's my fault! Heh... Please, go on with your business! I'm leaving now."
Realizing that she was in a disadvantageous situation and her brother was not here, Anne knew better
than to stay there for a second longer.
Finishing her words, Anne turned around and was about to leave.
"You brat. Do you think you can just leave easily after pissing me off so much?" With a sneer, Brice was
suddenly right in front of her in a blink of an eye.
"Ah... You..." In a panic, Anne raised her arms to protect herself.
Subconsciously, she murmured a spell. When she opened her eyes, she was surprised to see that
Brice was frozen like a statue!
In the next second, he fell onto the ground, still frozen solid.
With her eyes widening, Anne didn't think much about it anymore and quickly made her escape.
"Mr. Brice! Oh my God, are you okay?!" The girl he was with rushed over to him worriedly. Her face
looked pale from all the blood he had been sucking up from her earlier.
"I'm fine," Brice sneered before uttering a spell to break the magic that was on him.
‘How dare she use a pathetic magic spell to trap me? She dares underestimate me?!' Brice growled.
Looking at the dark and empty stairs, Brice's eyes flashed an evil light.
'Brat. You are definitely in trouble now.'
When he was about to leave, he accidentally stepped on something.
Raising his brow, he squatted down and picked up the thing under his feet. It was appeared to be a
delicate earring.
'What was this?'
Suddenly he recalled that Anne was wearing a pair of earrings. It must have been hers.
An evil smile appeared on his face. 'Woman, I'll wait for you!'
Meanwhile, Anne was trying to run as far as possible from where she came from. Looking around, she
couldn't help but feel lost. Every building and street in the campus all looked identical to her!
At some point, it felt like she was starting to run around in circles.
After a long time, Anne stopped and gasped nervously.
Looking around at the dark buildings shrouded in thick fog, she started feeling uneasy.
What should she do to find the dormitory?
Would Hurst worry about her?
It was hard for her to count on him since he appeared not to care about her sometimes. There were
times that he was quite cold and aloof towards her.
Suddenly, an idea came to her. 'Ah, of course! I can contact Hurst with my earrings and let him come to
me,' Anne cheered to herself.
Lifting up her hand, she went to get her right earring. Much to her dismay and shock, it wasn't there.
'What! Where is it?
I know I had it on just a while ago!'
Feeling slightly panicked, she reached out to her other ear. Her fingers touched the smooth earring, a
crisp sound ringing in the air.
'Oh my God! I'm so screwed! If Hurst knew that I lost my earring, he would kill me!' Anne thought.
Admittedly, although she was a beautiful and lovely looking girl, she could be quite clumsy most of the
time.
Biting her lip, she tried to figure out where she could've possibly left it.
Using a low-level spell, Anne tried her best to locate it.
After some time, she came back to the place where she had encountered Brice. Swallowing hard, she
barely had any courage in her to walk back in there.
What if that fiend was still there and didn't leave?
If that were that case, she would definitely be causing more trouble for herself.
'No! I can't go back up there again!' she cried in her heart.
But...
'But... What about the earring?
I can't even get back to Hurst without it!'
