Chapter 24: 'Abra- catastrophe' shopping
Chapter 24: 'Abra- catastrophe' shopping
After breakfast I started to clean up the kitchen because although we had made only cereal, the kitchen
was a mess. I wiped the counters and washed the dishes, mostly to occupy my mind from other
thoughts but the bigger part was that I did not like seeing dirty dishes. Though I might come across to
you as a lazy seventeen (17) year old, I do not like seeing anything garbage related, and as I said
before, dirty dishes infuriate me. I was just about to bring the garbage bag outside when Spencer came
into the kitchen. She had wandered off, probably to talk with Liam, who was quiet during the entire time
we were eating breakfast. "What are you doing?" Spencer asks as she snatches the garbage bag from
my hands with such a strong force you'd think garbage would be all over the kitchen but now- which
would turn me into a ballistic moron. I'm not a clean freak, but I do love seeing a clean environment. "I
was just going to carry out the garbage until you so rudely interrupted." I jump and try to get the
garbage bag out of her hands but because Spencer is built like a tree, and I admit, I am sadly short, it
is a lost cause. "You aren't suppose to clean anything!" Spencer was waving her hands around like a
madman. Was it that bad if I cleaned something once in a while. "Liam made us stay for the night at a
house, might I mention that I have never been to! I know you brought me here but you can not order
me around telling me not to do this or not to do that. I am not 5 years old!" Spencer walks over to the
garbage bin and dumps back the garbage bag into it. "Emerald, you do act like a 5 year old. Don't act
like you didn't past that 'I have the mentality of a five year old' test, like Timmy Turner's dad." Spencer
chuckles to herself and I wonder why we're fighting over garbage- literally. "Besides", Spencer flashed
her hand over the sink and I hand her a hand towel, " the garbage bag wasn't even quarter full." I sit on
a chair at the counter and fold my arms. "It really does not matter. Plus, I'm still mad at you. And unless
you're going to bring me on a fabulous shopping spree, or buy me an entire supermarket of nutella then
I'm going to stay mad. Oh yeah, and when and if you're out buying the nutella, pick up some light
chocolate." Spencer rolls her eyes at my childish and over dramatic behaviour but I can see a smile
forming on her lips. "Where did I go wrong?" Spencer says and laughs. I laugh along with her. "The first
day of school at kindergarten when.you decided to talk to me."
*30 or so minutes later*
"Can you slow down?" I tell after my bestfriend as I chase her as she practically runs to the swinging
doors of the mall. I can see Spencer throw her hands up in the air, a sign that the quota of my daily
shenanigans was filling up rapidly. Nevertheless, Spencer being the good human she is stops for me at
the mall entrance as she waits for me to catch up. "Finally", she mutters as I approach her. "It wasn't
even that long", I lie. Spencer rolls her eyes for the trillionth time this morning. "Of course it wasn't."
Spencer grabs ahold of my arm as we both run through the swinging doors, maybe because I'll
probably see something that I like and wander away. As my bestfriend said, I have the mentality of a
five (5) year old. My eyes trail over to a shop where they're selling the new iPhone. Shit. I haven't seen
my phone in almost 20 hours and I haven't even realised. Mentally I hold up my middle fingers to the
boys who and I quote, 'can't go without their phones for an hour.' I remember an interview where the
interviewer had invited the Ariana Grande to his podcast. I don't exactly remember what he compared
her phone to - I have the memory of a gold fish - and asked her which she could live without. Ariana
was clearly furious and like the boss she is, she told the man that those were ordinary things and we,
females, didn't have to worry about. There were other important stuff, like periods, fitting in clothes,
looking like a 'lady', according to society. Females fight hard to be where they are today, and it's hard
enough without sexist men and society judging them and behaving like life's a crystal stair. "Earth to
Emerald!" Spencer waves her hands a few centimeters from my face and I finally snap out of my
trance. My bestfriend seems to be having fun, unlike me who is having a mental debate and battle with
myself. "I'm still here." I assure Spencer and she drags me to another shop. "Nooo!" I practically
screech like a banshee. Spencer is dragging me to the forbidden- drum roll please..... thank you-
Victoria Secrets. "Do you want to know the best part?" Spencer is smiling like a mad, evil scientist now
and it's starting to scare me a little. I refuse to answer so Spencer laughs and continues. "Liam gave
me his black card this morning. It wasn't hard, I just told him you wanted new clothes and he gave it to
me instantly." Why the hell would Liam give someone as devious as Spencer his card? And for me! Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Something didn't add up. "That's not even the best part. Whatever we buy, he's going to know." And
with a wink and that charming smile, that's a distration from her evil interior, my bestfriend drags me
over to the forbidden store.
