Chapter 189 The Change in Attitude of the Monaghans

The next morning. Freya rose early and prepared herself for the day ahead. After carefully adorning herself, she descended the stairs to have breakfast.

Sylvia and Braxton were already seated at the table. Although Braxton’s recent state of being had not been favorable, it was still a vast improvement from his previous reluctance to even return home. Freya understood that her brother had started to harbor a glimmer of hope within his heart, yet he couldn’t fully embrace it until she presented a concrete treatment plan.

Within the dining room, both Sylvia and Braxton’s gazes converged upon Freya as she entered. Observing her dressed in an elegant blush–colored gown, Braxton appeared to grasp the situation. “Are you heading to the Monaghan Residence?”

“Yes, I’ve been in Vroria for quite some time and haven’t visited the Monaghans since my return. Madam Daniella missed me,” Freya replied with a smile.

Braxton snorted disdainfully. “You aren’t even part of the Monaghans.”

A deep frown formed on Sylvia’s forehead. “Frey, it’s true that Radley helped us in Vroria, and Madam Daniella has always shown you kindness. It’s right for you to visit them. But…”

Sylvia’s words trailed off as she saw Freya nodding in agreement.

“Mom, I understand what you’re trying to say. Don’t worry, it won’t happen.”

“It better not,” Braxton grumbled under his breath. “If you end up falling into the same trap twice, I’ll definitely scold you.”

Upon hearing those words of threat, both Sylvia and Freya arched their eyebrows simultaneously, exchanging a meaningful glance.

Sensing the tension, Braxton obediently focused on his meal, feigning an air of nonchalance. Deep down. however, he was plagued with guilt.

In that momentary surge of indignation, the thought of Radley had crossed his mind. Yet, he couldn’t bear to hurt his sister.

Once breakfast concluded, Freya set out in her car toward the Monaghans‘ mansion.

With her current leisure and no other pressing matters apart from occasional weekend visits to West Geft, Freya had recently taken Brandon as her master. She had made up her mind to seize any available opportunity to learn tenon–mortise from Brandon in West Geft. It would be even better if she could. persuade Brandon to stay in Caltun.

Lost in thought as she drove, Freya arrived at the Monaghans‘ mansion after an hour.

By now, her visits to the Monaghans had become seamless, bypassing any need for prior notification, and arriving effortlessly at the majestic entrance of the estate.

As soon as she stepped out of the car, the Monaghans‘ housekeeper warmly greeted her. “Welcome, Miss Kaufmann.”

Freya’s face lit up with a smile. “Has Madam Daniella awakened?”

“Madam’s age catches up with her lately, resulting in restless nights. But she woke up early and has been

waiting for you. Mrs. Monaghan, Mr. Radley, and Miss Hannah are all here today, and we have additional guests in the house,” the housekeeper replied with evident delight.

The Monaghans, with Radley mainly residing in Smalzot Yard and Hannah spending most of her time at school, rarely gathered together during Freya’s visits to the Monaghans‘ mansion.

“Guests?” Freya asked, her curiosity piqued.

The housekeeper smiled and responded, “They are Miss Hannah’s classmates from Evergreen University.”

Engaged in conversation, they walked toward the house.

As soon as Freya stepped inside, her eyes fell upon the individuals seated on the sofa.

Hannah and Melissa sat side by side, while on the adjacent single–seater sofa, Edward and another young man sat in silence..

Spotting Freya’s arrival, Melissa exclaimed with excitement, “Frea, I missed you!”

With quick, hurried steps, she reached out to Freya, conscious of avoiding contact with her belly, giving her a gentle and fleeting embrace.

Edward, too, was pleasantly surprised, but unlike Hannah’s exuberance, he remained rooted in his spot. “Frea-” he uttered, his words trailing off.

Freya smiled, casting a glance at Edward. “Long time no see, Edward. How have you been lately?”

A blush tinted Edward’s cheeks. “Things have been going well.”

Freya’s gaze then shifted to the side where Rosie and Daniella occupied a set of elegant mahogany chairs. their smiles beaming as they fixed their eyes on her.

Approaching them, she greeted Daniella with warmth, Madam Daniella.”

Soon after, her attention turned toward Rosie.

In their previous encounters, she and Rosie had exchanged cold glances, although the tension had somewhat thawed since then. Yet, Rosie still exhibited a lingering awkwardness.

“Mrs. Monaghan,” Freya addressed her courteously.

“Frey, come here and let me take a good look at you.” Daniella beckoned, motioning toward the empty seat next to her with one hand while patting the vacant mahogany armchair on her other side.

Following her invitation, Freya gracefully took a seat.

While engaging in conversation with Daniella, Freya consulted the family doctor about the latest updates. on Daniella’s condition.

Daniella still experienced intermittent moments of confusion, alternating with moments of clarity. Fortunately, the episodes of confusion hadn’t noticeably increased.

With a sense of relief, Freya set her worries aside.

Grasping Freya’s hand, Daniella spoke affectionately. “Frey, Radley has returned as well. He’s in the study upstairs. Would you like to go and see him?”

|

Freya offered a warm smile in response. “Since he’s in the study, he’s likely occupied with official matters. and prefers not to be disturbed. Moreover, I came here to visit you, Grandma.”

A tinge of disappointment flickered across Daniella’s expression.

The housemaid arrived with a tray of refreshments. Daniella pursed her lips and cast a series of meaningful glances toward Freya. She then discreetly cleared her throat and subtly gestured toward the pastries on the table, prompting Freya to help herself.

“Freya, try the pastries made by our new pastry chef,” Rosie suggested.

Freya was taken aback by Rosie initiating a conversation with her, finding it entirely unexpected.

Reaching out, she took a piece and graciously replied, “Thank you, Mrs. Monaghan.”

Rosie furrowed her brow, struggling with her words. “You don’t have to be so formal. Just call me Aunt

Rosie.

This remark caught Freya off guard, surprising her even more.

Freya paused for a moment, then smiled and responded. “Thank you, Aunt Rosie.”

After engaging in a pleasant conversation with Freya, Daniella glanced at Hannah and Melissa, who were eagerly waiting, a smile graced her face.

“Alright, I’ll take a rest for a while. Why don’t you spend some time with Hannah and the rest? We’ll talk more during lunch.”

Freya rose from her seat and assisted Daniella. Tll take you back to your room.”

By the time Freya returned after ensuring Daniella was settled, Rosie was no longer there.

Hannah sat in the living room, watching Freya, while Melissa enthusiastically waved her hand. “Frea, come

over!”

Freya strolled over leisurely. “Don’t you have classes today?”

“No.”Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.

Once Freya settled in, Edward promptly poured tea and pushed the assortment of pastries closer to her.

Among the four present, Freya was only unfamiliar with the young man.

Hannah took the initiative to introduce him, saying. “This is our classmate, Benjamin Anderson. He’s in the same course as Melissa.

Freya smiled and greeted, “Nice to meet you, Benjamin.

Benjamin had a decent appearance, with a slightly intimidating aura that gave off an air of not being easily approached.

Melissa leaned in and asked, “Frea, how have Braxton and Isabella been lately?”

Freya cast a brief glance at her and replied, “What do you think?”

The rift between Braxton and Isabella had stemmed from a few revealing questions that Melissa had asked during a game of truth or dare.

Melissa appeared restless. “I didn’t expect things to turn out that way. I haven’t dared to see Braxton recently, and I sent a few messages to Isabella, but she hasn’t replied.”

Freya let out a soft sigh, attempting to comfort her. “She hasn’t responded to me either.” It seemed that Isabella likely hadn’t even checked her phone.

It was a deeply saddening situation.

Seizing the opportunity after Freya and Melissa finished their conversation, Edward spoke up, brimming with anticipation.

“Frea, you haven’t been live–streaming or posting videos lately. Are you planning to stop doing that?”

Freya smiled and responded, “No, I’ll resume live–streaming this weekend. I’ve just been busy with other things recently.”
