Chapter 23 The Orphanage II
“Orphanage, we’re at the orphanage Emily.” He blurted out and Emily turned to look at him.
“Orphanage?” She asked and he nodded.
“Yes, an orphanage.” He confirmed.
“Sir Niguel!” A kid squealing voice was heard and almost immediately a small boy of about 12 years came running into Niguel arms who in turn was embraced by Niguel.
“Matthew.” Niguel muttered, still embracing the little boy in his arms who wasn’t willing to let go.
Soon enough, kids of the boy’s age and less came running into Niguel welcoming arms, creating a small crowd around him.
“It’s so nice to see you again Sir Niguel.” The little boy, Matthew muttered and the other kids agreed, nodding their heads.
It’s being so long since they last him in the orphanage and they missed him so much.
“It’s good to see you all again.” Niguel replied, making the kids all grin from ear to ear.
“I brought someone with me today, you all should meet Miss Emily, my fiancee.” Niguel introduced and the attention suddenly fell on Emily who let out a shy smile.
“It’s nice to meet you ma’am.” Matthew said, offering her his little hand like a gentleman and Emily took him, shooking him.
“It’s nice to meet you too Matthew.” Emily replied and the boy smiled, staring at Emily a bit longer before finally moving his gaze back to Niguel.
“What of Miss Jenna sir Niguel? She didn’t come with you today?” Matthew asked, his little eyes frantically searching for any sign of Jenna but all to no avail.
“Miss Jenna had some work to do so she couldn’t come with me today, she’s extends her greeting to you all.” Niguel explained and the kids happy expressions suddenly turned sour.
“When will she be visiting?” Matthew asked and Niguel sighed. He parted his mouth to speak when he suddenly heard a scream.
“Ahh!”
A scream erupted from Emily’s lips as she clutched tightly to her head while staggering on the floor, gaining the attention of Niguel and the kids who all turned to look at her.
“Emily! Emily!” Niguel yelled, catching her right in time before her falling body touched the ground.
“Hey, hey, Emily it’s okay, it’s okay, you’re with me now, it’s okay.” He muttered, trying to calm the trembling Emily in his arms which seemed to work and she seemed to calm down a little bit.
“Niguel?” Her small voice called.
“I’m here, I’m here.” He replied.
“Have I being here in the past? with you?” She further asked and Niguel grip on her tightened.
“No.” He replied.
“Is something the problem?” He asked.
“What happened, why did you fall?”
“My head felt heavy and my eyes turned blurry, I don’t know what happened Niguel, this place feels so familiar even though I’m just visiting for the first time.” She muttered, rubbing her forehead and Niguel smiled.
His plan was working.
“Sir Niguel.” A voice called and turning to the direction of the voice was a beautiful woman in her forties dressed in a nun attire approaching them with little Matthew by her side.
He had gone to call her immediately Emily had fallen down.
“Oh my? What happened?” The woman asked alarmed, seeing Niguel kneeling on the floor with Emily in his hands.
“It’s nothing serious Sister Martha, we’ll be on our way now. I’m sorry I’m leaving so soon.” Niguel apologized and the woman smiled.
“It’s no big deal sir Niguel, it’s so nice to see you again.” Sister Martha uttered.
“Nice to see you too sister Martha, I promise to visit some other time. We’ll be on our way now.” Niguel announced, picking the already unconscious Emily from the floor in a princess like manner before waking towards the car with little Matthew trailing behind him.
He helped opened the back door for Niguel so he could drop Emily before moving to the driver’s seat.
“Here, I got this for you and the kids.” Niguel muttered, giving the boy two packets of expensive snacks and the boys face lit up in a smile.
“Thank you sir Niguel and please do take care of your fiancee and yourself.” The boy pleaded and Niguel smile.
“Of course, of course boy, do the same also and watched over the little ones for sister Martha.” Niguel advised and the boy nodded his head.
“I’ll visit you soon.”
Niguel promised, started the car’s engine and bidding the children one last time, he drove the car to the hospital.
Half way to the hospital, Emily opened her eyes which for unknown reason had tears streaming down her cheeks.
“Niguel?” Her velvety voice called and Niguel hurriedly parked the car at a safe side of the road.
“Yes Emily.” He replied, making his way to her and getting to her, he touched her forehead just to discover her temperature was already back to normal.
He slowly used his thumb to wipe her tears away and she parted her lips to speak;
“The orphanage, do you usually visit the children with someone else?” She asked.
“Yes, her name was Jenna.” Niguel solemnly replied.
“Was?” She asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
“She’s late now, she died five years ago.” He revealed and Emily brought her hands to her mouth.
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry Niguel, I… I didn’t mean to…”she whispered, sympathy clearly evident in her voice.
“It’s okay Emily, I know you didn’t.” Niguel smiled.
“It’s been so long, I’m okay now.” He assured.
“Now let’s go the hospital.”
“No, no, I’m fine now, I want to go home, I have to see Olivia.” Emily refused and Niguel raised his eyebrows.
“Please Niguel, I’m fine now, I want to go home, I haven’t seen Olivia since yesterday, she’ll be worried, I have to see her. Please.” She pleaded, her brown eyes sparkling as she stared at him and Niguel sighed defeatedly.
How could he ever say no to her when she was looking at him with those cute eyes of hers.
“Fine.”
He finally agreed, hoping into the driver’s seat.
“But we’ll visit the hospital tomorrow.” He gave his condition and she nodded her head. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
He started the car’s engine, hitting the road again, this time to the direction of her home.
“We’re here.” He announced, parking at the front of her home and Emily alighted.
“Thanks for the ride.” She appreciated and he smiled.
“Go on now, it’s late.” He muttered and she nodded.
Bidding him goodnight, she walked to her apartment and knocked on it.
“Olivia, it’s me, open the door.” She half yelled and almost immediately, the door was opened and Olivia’s face came into view.
“Emily.” She squealed happily, hugging her.
“What happened? Are you okay? Are you alright? Are you hurt? God I was so worried. Where did you run off to?” She questioned and Emily laughed.
“Don’t I get to at least enter the room?” She asked and Olivia rolled her eyes.
“Come in ye Majesty.” Olivia uttered, dramatically bowing her head and Emily couldn’t help but to laugh out loud.
“God, I missed you.” She confessed admist laughter, making her way into the room.
All this while, Niguel stood outside, watching her interact with Olivia and when he was sure, she’d entered the room. He turned on his car’s engine, driving to his mansion.
His plan today was a success.
Niguel had intentionally taken her to the orphanage today to know if she was truly Jenna and he was right afterall. She was the one.
Niguel smiled, remembering the day he’d first visited the orphanage with Jenna and slowly, he recalled the first night he’d met her.
