Chapter 1034
Maximus hugged his daughter, smiling as he watched her slowly grow and show the maturity she was made of. It was incredible to see how the little girl who had once been forgotten now stood firm, knowing exactly who she was and what she wanted.
"Dad, I'm going to see Adrian today," she said, taking another sip of coffee.
"Why?" Maximus asked, a bit surprised.
"What do you mean why? I need to talk to him before he meets my daughter. I have to make a few things very clear-especially one thing in particular. My daughter is just a baby, and I won't allow his wife to come in and try to make her feel less than. If he wants to be in her life, he has to guarantee me a respectful relationship.”
"I see... I didn't even know that guy was married..." Maximus said, clearly surprised.
"I just found out recently. It can't have been long. But I do know the woman he married, and trust me—she's not a good person,” Laura said cautiously.
"How do you know her?"
"She used to bully me in school. Remember when you transferred me to a different one?"
"Yes..."
"Well, at my old school, she was one of the girls who used to torment me. I don't care about the past, but I won't allow her to come anywhere near my daughter. If she so much as lays a finger on Adele, I swear she'll regret it for the rest of her life,” Laura said, her tone turning cold.
Maximus was taken aback. He rarely saw traces of Alexia in Laura, but in that moment, it was obvious—some of her mother's fierceness had surfaced.
“Relax, sweetheart. It's just a conversation. And if he really wants to see his daughter, it should be in a place where we can keep an eye on him. If you're worried about his wife, then she absolutely cannot be present when he's with Adele."
"That's exactly what I want to make clear to him. That's why I'm meeting him first—before introducing him to Adele."
“Alright, but I don't want you going alone. Maybe one of the bodyguards can go with you."
"Dad..."
“Come on, just take one. It'll ease my mind. I know you hate having security around, but just this once, I'd prefer it."
"Fine..."
After their brief conversation, Laura headed back to her room, and Maximus did the same. He walked into his bedroom, where Diana was still fast asleep. Smiling, he climbed into bed beside her, wrapped an arm around her waist, and pulled her close.
"Sleepyhead!"
“Mmm?” she murmured, stretching against his arms. "What is it.....?”
"Have I told you how much I love you?"
"Not yet today..."
“Well then, future Mrs. Evans, I love you. And I'm going to make sure to remind you of it every single morning."
"I love you too, Maximus,” Diana said, finally waking up.
"Hey..."
"Hmm?"
"What if we start working on making that baby?"
“Maximus... That's literally what we've been doing,” she said with a smirk.
"Well, I don't see a baby yet..."
"Maximus, a baby takes nine months to arrive... You're just looking for an excuse."
“Partly..... but I really can't wait to see a tiny version of you running around."
"Well then... I guess we do need to put in more effort," Diana teased, pulling him in for a kiss.
The morning passed quickly, and the Evans household slowly came to life as everyone woke up, filling the
massive home with noise and movement-music to Maximus's ears.
He had to admit, he was starting to
feel a little old, but the thought of seeing his own baby, one who would have both his and Diana's features, excited him. That was what had truly to focus on making it happen.

Meanwhile, Laura glanced at the clock-it was time. She left Adele in Emma's care. Emma, who had returned home and resumed looking after everyone, had encouraged her to go through with it. Laura took a deep breath. As much as she didn't want to see him, what she was witnessing with Paul was a reminder that some things had to be faced head-on. 'Better to get it over with quickly,' she thought. noveldrama
