Gud Wife 23
Mary ran with all her might and finally spotted Peter's Lamborghini. Though Emma tried to catch up, Mary was faster and had a head start, so the housekeeper could only watch as she got into the car, unable to see who was driving
"Let's go, Peter! I'm sure Emma is already alerting Maximus," Mary said, still trying to catch her breath from the long run.
Peter floored the accelerator and sped off, heading for an uncertain destination. He glanced over at Mary, taking in her condition. She was trembling and looked nothing like the girl he once knew. Seeing her so distressed, he decided to pull over to a secluded spot and try to calm her down. He got out of the car, opened the passenger door, and knelt to be at her level, pulling her into a tight hug
"Mary, what happened, sweetheart? Where did the love go? All I see in your eyes now is fear and sadness. "he blurted out without thinking.
Mary began to sob, covering her face in shame.
"I don't know, Peter! I'm scared. I didn't know what else to do but call you. I don't want to get you into trouble with your brother, but I have no one else to turn to. After I married him, I broke all ties with the people I knew on the beach."
"I'm not complaining about that! Come on, get out of the car; I need to check you over," Peter said, trying to assess her injuries.
She stepped out of the car, revealing a tiny figure that bore no resemblance to the woman she had been three years ago. Peter examined her face; her right cheek was swollen, and she had bruises on her lip and eye. He noticed a small hemorrhage in her right eye. As she put her hands over her face to cover herself, he saw that one of her wrists was swollen.noveldrama
"I think we need to go to a doctor before taking you anywhere. Is that okay?"
"Yes, but it has to be outside the city because as soon as Maximus finds out, he'll search for me everywhere."
"Don't worry, we'll go to see Philip Hill. Remember him
"Yes, the one who treated Calum's wife, right?"
"That's right! My brother may have the city at his feet, but outside of it, he's nobody. We'll take advantage of that to get away from him."
Peter hugged Mary again, pressing her head against his chest, which caused her to let out a little yelp of pain.
"What's wrong? Did I hurt you?"
"No, it just hurt a little."
Peter looked at his hand and saw blood on his fingers
"Mary, let me check your head."
He began parting her hair and found dried blood clinging to it. Apparently, she also had a head wound she
hadn't noticed.
"We need to get to a doctor urgently. Get back in the car, put your seatbelt on; now we're in more of a hurry than before."
"Is something wrong? Am I hurt?"
"It's just a bump, I hope it's nothing serious.
Peter thought to himself, I hope it's just a bump because if it's anything more, I swear, Maximus Palmer, I'll make you suffer the same pain Mary is going through."
Meanwhile, back at the Palmer mansion, Emma paced back and forth, wondering what to do. Mary had. escaped, but not only that, Emma had no idea who she had left with. How would she explain this to Maximus? With no other choice, she decided to call him. After several attempts, the phone was turned off.
"What's going on, Maximus? You're acting strange. First, you tell me not to go to the office today, and then you show up at my apartment with a suitcase," Alexia said, confused. "Has he finally decided to leave Mary?" she wondered.
"I'm tired. Can I lie down on your bed?"
"Of course! Do you want a massage?"
"Yes, please, but today I just want to rest. Please, just give me the massage."
"I understand, don't worry."
While she was massaging him, Maximus's phone began to ring. Seeing it was Emma, Alexia figured it had
to do with Mary trying to contact Maximus from another phone. He was asleep, so she decided to turn it! off.
"Philip! Buddy, hey, I'm on my way to your office. I need a huge favor," Peter said, his voice tense with worry.
"Hey, Peter! What kind of trouble are you in now?"
"No, it's not me! It's Angela. I need you to see her urgently. I'll explain everything in person, but for now, just be ready to check her as soon as we get
there."
"Okay, okay, calm down! I'll see you here. Drive safely."
Philip thought to himself, I haven't heard that name in a long time. "What kind of mess are you in, Peter?" After a couple of hours, Mary could finally see the beach-the same one she had spent almost a year
near. She could smell and feel the sea breeze, which brought back so many good memories of when she had just turned eighteen.
