Chapter 0354
Chapter 0354
Candice's hand holding the towel suddenly tightened, and she slowly raised her eyelids to look at Alex.
He was also looking at her, but he was half-lying on the bed while Candice stood, her gaze looking down from a higher perspective.
After a pause, she placed the towel in her hand on the nearby cabinet. "I'm going down."
"Do you remember?" a deep voice resonated, carrying a slightly intoxicating breath in the air. Alex furrowed his brow, and his face turned somewhat pale.
He didn't look at Candice, but after a pause, he said again, "You said that in the future, you want to name your child Little Berry."
He seemed genuinely drunk. He didn't look at her while speaking, and his Adam's apple moved up and down.
Candice's heart stirred. She looked at Alex with complex eyes, forcefully suppressing the bitter feeling in her heart.
Yes, she had once fantasized about having a child.
Little Berry was the name she had thought of naming her child.
She pinched the palm of her hand, slowly exhaled a breath, and looked at Alex with a determined and persistent gaze, her voice clear, "Alex, you're drunk."
"Maybe I am drunk. I am always recalling the past." He covered his eyes with his hand, his tone casual.
Candice paused and said, "There's nothing to recall."
As she left the room, she coincidentally met the front desk staff delivering the hangover soup.
Candice felt a bit annoyed. She went back to the room and went out to the balcony to get some fresh air.
Alex was clearly drunk tonight, and she didn't have much concern about it. However, when he mentioned the name, it did create a slight ripple in her heart. After all, it was something Candice had once genuinely envisioned.
She lowered her head, touched her stomach, and marveled at the miracle inside—a brand-new life.
Just as she returned from the balcony, her phone rang. It was Sawyer calling.
"I just got back to the hotel. Mr. Elysian drank a bit too much today and is not feeling well. Candice, do you know what medicine Mr. Elysian usually takes in such situations?"
Sawyer had not been with Alex for long, and Alex usually didn't drink this much, so he was unsure.
"You can just ask him directly," Candice said.
"Mr. Elysian is really uncomfortable right now."
Candice took a deep breath and quickly said in a low voice, "When I brought him back, I already called the front desk. The medicine should be delivered soon, and there are instructions on how to take it."
"The hangover soup has also been delivered. After he gets drunk, he can't stand the smell of peaches, and also—"
Candice emotionlessly listed a bunch of precautions for Alex. Finally, she said, "Remember them for the future and don't ask me again."
Before Sawyer could respond, she hung up the phone.
Holding the phone, Sawyer was about to follow Candice's advice and go pour water for Alex.
Turning around, he saw Alex standing not far behind him.
Awkwardly clearing his throat, Sawyer said, "Mr. Elysian."
Alex's face still looked a bit pale. He glanced at Sawyer's phone, his voice low, "What did she say?"
Candice didn't sleep well that night. In her dreams, a little girl kept calling her ‘mom’, and the name she blurted out was ‘Little Berry’. When she struggled to wake up from the hazy dream, the sky was already bright.
She checked the time; it was 7:30 in the morning.
Suppressing the fatigue in her body, Candice began to freshen up. While in the middle of washing up, Yana called, "I've arranged the things you told me about earlier."
Candice didn't react, "What things did I tell you about?"
"It's not important. You'll know when the time comes. That person should arrive in the afternoon."
Yana's mysterious words left Candice in a state of confusion.
The summit would last for several days, and today, she had to go meet Abel and the others.
While descending the stairs, she inevitably ran into Sawyer and Alex again.
Alex's complexion wasn't as pale as last night, indicating that he had improved after taking medicine.
Sawyer greeted her, "You're heading to the conference hall, right? Let's go together"
Without thinking, Candice refused. "No need."
Alex, who had been looking at his phone, raised his head and looked at her expressionlessly. "Don't be late."
As it turned out, Alex's prediction was accurate. Candice encountered the morning rush hour in Solaris and got caught in a rear-end collision near the conference hall.
By the time she arrived, the summit had been underway for half an hour. The keynote speaker on stage happened to be Abel, who gestured for her to enter. During the mid-break, Candice apologized to him, who generously dismissed it.
"Oh, it seems like you had a good time last night?" a somewhat ambiguous jest came from the side, and Candice followed the voice to find Angela. Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
She grinned at Candice. "I thought Mr. Elysian wouldn't be able to handle it after getting drunk. It seems I misjudged."
Ignoring the suggestive look in Angela's eyes, Candice replied, "Halfway through, his secretary came to take him away."
"Huh?" Angela seemed puzzled.
Candice added, "We only have a professional collaboration, and I'm already pregnant."
"You're married?" Angela was even more surprised, and Candice said, "No."
She didn't say anything more to Angela and went to another corner to answer a call. It was from an unknown number, and a low, displeased male voice came through, "Where are you?"
"You’ve dialed the wrong number," Candice said.
"I'm Barox. Yana asked me to come."
Hearing this, she was stunned. "Why did she ask you to come?"
"To pretend to be the father of your child."
His comments left her speechless.
Candice hadn't expected Yana's arrangements to be like this.
After the summit ended, she saw Barox, a sunshine-like young man in a white T-shirt and a baseball cap, outside the conference hall.
Barox also spotted her and walked toward her with a stern face, "Yana said you urgently needed to find a cheap dad for your child."
Candice's forehead veins pulsed. "It's not that urgent."
"Well, Yana's brain must be malfunctioning again." Barox seemed unsurprised.
Candice remembered that Barox was still a college student. She couldn't say much to him, so she asked, "Are you planning to stay in Solaris for a few days or are you going back now?"
"A few days. Going back now is troublesome," he replied.
She fell silent and asked, "Have you booked a hotel?"
Candice hadn't expected Yana's idea of solving the problem to be sending a person directly.
With no other choice, she took Barox to the hotel to book a room. Unexpectedly, when she raised her eyes, she saw Alex coming in accompanied by Darius.
Alex naturally saw her and quickly shifted his gaze to Barox beside her, and his eyes slightly narrowed.
However, Candice didn't notice Alex's gaze at all. Almost as soon as she saw Darius, her eyes stayed on him.
Darius was also looking at her.
In the brief moment their eyes met, neither of them showed much change in expression. However, in Candice's heart, one thing became even more certain.
She slowly withdrew her gaze and looked at Barox next to her. "Is everything arranged?"
Barox nodded, picked up his room card, and said, "Let's go upstairs."
