My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0438

Chapter 0438

After Harley left, Candice turned to Alex and asked, "What brings you here?"

Alex looked down slightly and replied, "I think Ms. Zott's case is worth paying attention to." This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

He seemed casual, almost like he didn't think it was a big deal.

Candice was about to ask more when several people in white coats entered, carrying a stretcher. They efficiently lifted Sonia, who had regained consciousness, onto it. They handled everything with practiced ease.

As the group dispersed, Yana approached Candice with Nadia, wearing a grin. She said, "Candy, let's celebrate tonight with some good food. It's a happy occasion."

Yana didn't hold back even with Alex present. She provocatively asked him, "Mr. Elysian, why are you still here? Didn't you see Sonia being taken to the hospital?"

Alex replied nonchalantly, "What does that have to do with me?"

Yana was about to retort, asking, “What do you mean by that? Previously…”

Candice felt uneasy about this; she hurriedly interrupted, "Where's Hanley? Didn't he say we're going to have something delicious?"

She appreciated Yana's attempt to defend her, but she didn't want to dwell on the past, especially not today. It wasn't necessary.

Seeing Candice's discomfort, Yana swiftly changed the subject, saying, "Hanley went out with Raymond. Are those witnesses still here?"

Mentioning Yvonne and Ivor made Candice go quiet. Even knowing Harley had gone to find Ivor, it still stung, leaving a lingering ache in her heart.

How ironic. It wasn't her biological mother who had stepped forward to accuse Sonia but Ivor, the very person who had killed her grandfather.

A mix of dread and shock crossed Candice's face as she emerged, only to be met with a barrage of hysterical shouting.

"Crazy bitch! Everything I did was for your own good! How could you be so blind?! Falling for that woman's tricks, ignoring your own father, and even threatening your daughter by jumping off a building. Even pigs have more sense than you!"

As Candice stepped out, she saw Yvonne and Ivor in the open space ahead.

Yvonne was covered in injuries. She sat in a wheelchair, her gaze fixed on Ivor with a dark intensity.

Unaware of the danger in Yvonne's stare, Ivor arrogantly taunted her, his words dripping with malice.

He spat on the ground, his expression filled with contempt.

Ivor mocked, "The biggest mistake I ever made was marrying you. You're nothing but bad luck! I want a divorce! Just having your name next to mine disgusts me..."

Before he could finish, Yvonne suddenly convulsed, then launched herself at Ivor in a swift and clumsy motion.

"I'll kill you, Ivor! I'll kill you! I've never had a single good day since I married you. How dare you keep a mistress and have illegitimate children? Have you no shame?!"

"Fuck! Get off me, you witch!"

The two wrestled fiercely.

Ivor, being thin and short, found himself at a disadvantage against Yvonne.

Having gained some weight during her hospital stay, Yvonne surprisingly gained the upper hand in the struggle.

She pinned Ivor down, raining curses and blows upon him with her injured hand. The

bandages on her arms came undone, revealing bones in odd positions. Yet Yvonne seemed unaffected by the pain, her focus solely on Ivor beneath her.

From the sidelines, Hanley asked, "Is everything taken care of?"

Candice gave a noncommittal hum in response, turning her gaze away from the struggling pair.

Yana watched with wide eyes, exclaiming, "Wow! For those who don't know, they might think they're mortal enemies, but for those in the know, they're a couple. Those two really go at it."

But as soon as she said it, Yana realized she was talking about Candice's parents and quickly shut her mouth.

"Raymond brought them here on his own. They just happened to run into each other at the entrance," Hanley clarified, noticing Candice's gaze fixating on Yvonne and the others.

Candice saw Raymond manage to separate Yvonne and Ivor forcefully.

Ivor was kneeling on the ground, his hands covering his ears in pain.

Yvonne was pushed back into her wheelchair, her hair and clothes disheveled from the fight.

Still, the fierceness in her eyes didn't wane; she continued to glare menacingly at Ivor.

Later, Candice learned that during the scuffle, Yvonne had bitten off one of Ivor's ears in her fury.

Yvonne's injuries were severe as well. Ivor broke her arm once more, just as it was beginning to heal.

After returning from court, as Yana had suggested earlier, the group planned to celebrate with Candice.

Nadia chose a barbecue restaurant, but Candice hardly touched her food. While Yana was thrilled, Candice felt drained.

In the lively atmosphere of the barbecue joint, amidst the laughter of others, Candice felt disoriented, barely registering her victory in the lawsuit.

Overwhelmed by fatigue, Candice's eyelids grew heavy. She rested her head on her arm, longing for sleep.

When she awoke, she discovered herself in a hospital room with white walls and the smell of

disinfectant.

"Oh! You're awake!" Yana's voice broke the silence. "I'll call Hanley. He's been really worried about you for the past few days."

Candice stopped her, but her throat felt hoarse as she spoke. She asked, "Have I been asleep for a long time?"

"You've been out for two days," Yana said, handing her a cup of warm water. "You passed out at the barbecue. We were all terrified, especially Hanley. I saw that his hand was trembling. We rushed

you to the hospital. The doctor said you were under a lot of stress and collapsed from exhaustion. You need to rest."

"I'm sorry for all the trouble," Candice murmured.

Yana reassured, "Don't be silly. We're friends; there's no trouble at all. I'll go call Hanley and get you some food."

She moved fast. After finishing her words, Yana was already out the door with her phone.

Candice leaned against the headboard, squinting at the sunlight outside. It felt surreal to realize it had been two days. But waking up this time, her mind felt clearer, and she felt some relief.

She had no time to relax before because of work and lawsuit concerns. Now, with that tension lifted, she felt strangely at ease.

Smiling involuntarily, Candice basked in the warmth of the sunlight pouring in through the window.

The door to the room creaked open. Candice assumed it was Yana. With a lingering smile, she lazily asked, "Back already?"

The person at the door hesitated before speaking in a calm voice, "When did you wake up?"

Candice turned and saw Alex standing there, his expression calm.
