Chapter 1022 Sydney Cooked Dinner for Julien
Chapter 1022 Sydney Cooked Dinner for Julien
This evening Sydney wanted to buy more groceries and cook something delicious for Julien, and to make up for the neglect she had been giving him these days.
Thinking about that, Sydney had a smile on her face. She wheeled the cart and walked around the vegetable section.
By the time she finished her grocery shopping, it was already after 6 pm. It was dark outside.
Sydney was carrying two large bags and stumbling towards Shallow Bay. She looked like a penguin.
She had bought a lot of stuff. The bags were very heavy, so she walked very slowly. The bags hit her calves every now and then, which made it even harder for her to walk.
Luckily, Shallow Bay was not far. After walking out of the market, Sydney walked for a few minutes to get there.
After about ten minutes, Sydney arrived at her apartment with two large bags of groceries.
She put the stuff in the kitchen. Then she was relieved. She leaned against the kitchen wall, panting.
She was really exhausted.
She was wearing high heels. Her feet hurt from walking back with two heavy bags, and her arms and shoulders were sore.
Sydney leaned against the wall, bending over to rub her calves and then straightening up to rub her shoulders and arms.
After quite a while, she felt better. She opened the bags and took the groceries out.
Just then, Zach pulled into the underground parking lot of Shallow Bay.
He turned to Julien in the back seat, who had his eyes closed, and reminded him, "Mr. Flint, here we are."
There were no lights on in the car. It was dark inside the car.
Zach couldn't see Julien's face. He could only dimly see the outline of Julien’s body.
In the darkness, Julien looked even more intimidating.
At Zach's words, Julien opened his eyes and let out a "hmm". A vague scowl flashed across his eyes.
Julien didn't move. He remained quietly sitting in the car, his legs crossed, his head resting against the window. He didn't look like he was getting out of the car.
Zach turned on the darkest light in the car, and now he could see Julien's face.
Seeing Julien staring at Sydney's parking space, no expression on his face, Zach was surprised, "Ms. Sydney's car isn't here. She’s not back yet?”
"She's back." Julien responded.
When Sydney messaged him this afternoon, she'd said she was back in Shallow Bay.
He was sure she wouldn't lie to him.
But why wasn't her car here...
Julien pursed his lips and demanded, "Find out if her car is at the Chase Manson."
"Why?" Zach froze. He saw the grim look on Julien's face and immediately he shivered.
He hurriedly took out his cell phone and made a call. He gave the one on the other end of the phone Sydney's license plate number.
About two minutes later, Zach got the answer.
Zach put down his phone and looked at Julien with amazement. He gave a thumbs up and exclaimed, "Mr. Flint, you're a genius! Ms. Raines' car is indeed at the Chase Manson! But how do you know that?"
"Luke must have taken her car after dropping her off at Shallow Bay," Julien said.
Zach was surprised, "I forgot about that." He subconsciously slapped his head.
Then something occurred to him. His eyes widened and his mouth dropped open. He seemed to want to say something, but he was hesitant. He finally swallowed his words.
Julien narrowed his eyes, "What do you want to say?"
As Julien noticed Zach's behavior, Zach answered honestly, "Mr. Flint, you seem not happy with Ms. Raines today... Is it because Ms. Raines went to lunch with Mr. Chase?"
But he didn't think it should be that.
Earlier, when Julien found out that Sydney went to lunch with Luke, he was a little upset and made Zach pay the bill for them. Yet he wasn't angry at Sydney.
And Julien told Zach that since Luke had done Sydney a favor, it was courteous for Sydney to treat Luke to lunch and he wasn't jealous at all, so Zach guessed that Julien wasn't mad about it.
But other than that, Zach couldn't think of anything to make Julien angry with Sydney.
He guessed that people in love were just weird. And he was glad he was not in love.
"No." Julien glanced at Zach and grimaced.
Zach blinked in dismay, "Not because of that?" He was surprised.
Julien pursed his thin lips and didn't say anything.
Zach then gathered his courage and asked, "Mr. Flint, what happened between you and Ms. Raines?"
Julien rubbed his thumb and didn't answer.
Zach sighed helplessly.
'Hmph, Mr. Flint won't tell me!'
Zach tried to help Julien out, but Julien wouldn't tell him, so there was nothing he could do.
Just then, a cell phone rang in the car and interrupted Zach's thoughts. NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
It was Julien's phone.
Julien had taken his phone out of his pocket. He was staring at the screen of his phone.
Zach was sitting in the front row, a little far from the phone, but he was able to see the screen when he leaned over.
It was Sydney, and she was calling Julien.
Zach's mouth dropped open once again. Then he turned to Julien. He wondered what Julien would do.
Would Julien ignore it, as he had done earlier? Or would he pick up the phone?
Soon, Zach got the answer.
Julien dropped his hand from the armrest of the car door, straightened his head, and then picked up the phone.
'Mr. Flint finally answered the phone!' Zach's eyes widened in surprise.
'Mr. Flint isn't ignoring Ms. Raines's call like he did before! He's picking it up!
'Looks like things aren't that bad between them.
'I was overconcerned earlier. If they are in a fight, why will Mr. Flint come back to Shallow Bay instead of his own house? Nothing seems to be going on.'
Zach breathed a sigh of relief and had a smile. Then he listened quietly as Julien spoke into the phone.
"Hello?" Julien's voice was low, and there was a hint of coldness in his tone, not the usual gentleness and coddling.
Sydney was cooking at the moment. She was tilting her head and holding her phone between her head and her shoulder.
She was holding the pan with one hand and stirring the food in it with a spoon with the other. It was noisy in the kitchen, so Sydney didn't notice the coldness of Julien's tone.
She asked, as she usually did, "Have you finished your work? When are you coming back?"
On the other end of the line, Julien also heard the noise of cooking. He had a mental picture of Sydney, wearing an apron, busily cooking for him in the kitchen.
Julien was content with the scene.
Only the woman he loved could make him feel cozy at home.
Julien's eyebrows loosened and the coldness in his tone disappeared. He became as gentle as ever.
