Chapter 32 A Sudden Show-Up
“Matilda, where is Juliette? You should be coming with her, right? What happened?” Kevin sighed and clad her with his suit jacket.
“Thank you. I am fine.” Matilda forced out a smile to reply.
“Well, do you need a doctor? I can ask my primary care provider to conduct a check-up for you. I can get you a new dress and I think you may need to get yourself changed. You look too awkward to show up in public right now.”
Matilda was about to refuse. But at a second thought, she found herself necessary to get changed first.
Kevin took her into the suite reserved for him out of safety concern. He told her to rest for a while. Then he left to deal with some private matters.
After he walked out of the suite, Matilda stood up and looked around the suite curiously. She was amazed when noticing how privilege a life he was living.
Both the primary care provider and a servant working for the Armstrong family had arrived soon. They brought her a brand-new dress with intact wrappings from Juliette’s closet. The care provider cleaned up her wound and then left with respect after giving her some advice.
Matilda walked into the bathroom. She took a shower and groomed herself again. She put on the new dress and looked into the mirror. The urge to revenge started to grow in her mind.
She had been humble but still got badly bullied by Juliette. At the thought of that, the hatred against her was getting stronger.
Actually, Matilda had planned to hook up with Preston, the fiancé of Juliette. But now she changed her mind-she decided to spend more efforts on Kevin. She was planning to be the stepmother of Juliette! If she got it done as she wished, she would be able to see the chance to revenge herself.
…
Two hours later, Kevin pushed the door open to teeter in. He was rendered dizzy because of drinking too much with his friends.
Ever since the tough quarrel with his wife, Aminah, he had been living in this suite away from home for a long time. Nor did he intend to go back home tonight.
The marriage between them had been in an awful situation. What was more, he still missed Erica, the mother of Jessica, from the bottom of his heart. So the gap between them had been gaping.
His phone kept ringing. He knew it was a call from his wife. But he simply powered off his phone.
Now it reminded him of Erica once again, who was overwhelming his mind at this moment.
Every time he recalled the past, he felt suffocated. Erica had been tender and considerate. There wasn’t even a quarrel happening between them from the beginning of their marriage to the end of divorce.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Jessica looked so much alike her mother that Kevin didn’t even have the courage to look at her face, fearing that it might remind him of the painful story once again.
Matilda took a deep breath and threw herself into his arms.
Dirven by drunkenness, Kevin mistook her as Erica. He held her up into his arms and walked into the bedroom.
…
The scandal between Matilda and Juliette had been spread all over the city. Jessica couldn’t help sneering at the thought of that.
Though Matilda still remained more kindness than Juliette, she still appeared to be greedy for something belonging to others. That was why she always got bullied by Juliette.
“Oh, finally got you! You really waste me a lot of time!” Preston’s voice sounded from behind.
“I said I am going to show you something interesting.”
“What if I say I don’t want to!” Jessica refuted.
“If you admit that you are scared, I won’t take you there. I just want you to have a clear understanding about yourself.” Preston teased. As far as he knew about her, he believed Jessica would definitely agree when hearing that.
“Lead the way.” Jessica uttered softly.
“That’s the room. Look inside. You will find out what you want to see.” Said Preston after he led her upstairs to a luxurious room.
She looked inside through the glass on the door-there were a group of people inside, singing, talking and drinking. Among them there was a man, tall and strong. It was exactly Lorenzo, who was said to be missing for more than two weeks.
“Don’t you think it’s interesting?” Preston smiled.
The room was also stuffed with all kinds of pretty ladies, who were trying to satisfy those noble guests in a hope that they would offer some considerable tips after being pleased. Of course, Lorenzo was one of those worth ingratiation. Thus, he was surrounded by a few pretty ladies doing their best to please him. Seeing that, Jessica felt a bit suffocated out of upset.
“Look at your upset face, I bet you are falling for him. Am I right about that?”
Though reluctant to admit, Preston was aware of what was in her mind.
Even though Jessica had claimed that she no longer spared any feelings for Lorenzo, Preston still got burnt by anger when seeing that.
“It’s none of your business!” Jessica turned to look at him, looking composed.
“A man with wealth and privilege like him can get whatever ladies he fancies! Don’t be silly! Do you still believe he will keep his own virginity just for you forever! Come on, get yourself out of your daydream before you get your heart broken!”
Of course, Jessica was aware of that as well.
She still remembered the woman answering her call to Lorenzo when he was on a business trip a few years ago. No one could ever touch his phone unless it was the one he trusted.
“I have seen what I need to. Are you pleased now? I am not a person crying for the past. Nor will I like to recollect the old story. Whatever. I won’t be your girlfriend. Never! Stop wasting your time on me!” struggling, Jessica refuted stubbornly. Her voice seemed sobbing.
“Alright, whatever. By the way, I am about to marry your sister. Do remember to attend the ceremony.” Preston looked at her coldly. Then he left decisively.
Not until Preston had disappeared from her sight did she breathe a sigh of relief. She felt helpless and overwhelmed with anything about Lorenzo.
“I told you to bring the cigars into the room! Why are you standing still?” the manager mistook her as a waitress when he noticed her standing at the door for so long. He stuffed the cigars into her arms. Before she could react, he took her into the room.
“Gentlemen, please help yourselves some cigars. And please let me know if you need anything.” The manager let out an apologetical smile in case those noble guests got annoyed. Before he left, he hinted at Jessica as a warning that she should serve them well.
Jessica was getting more and more embarrassed standing here. She had no idea what to do.
“Hey, what’s going on? Lorenzo, look, you got an old friend here!”
Lucian, a friend of Lorenzo, had seen Jessica before. But he didn’t know why she showed up like a waitress. So he took the initiative to tease her.
