Chapter 1936
Chapter 1936
They had reached the airport rather early, and Cindy felt carsick from the ride earlier, so she rested her head against Ian’s shoulder. After staying in the same position for a while, Cindy contemplated for a moment before pulling her phone out to take a picture in the position that they were in. The picture only showed her and Ian’s shoulder. She uploaded it onto Facebook, but she was smart enough to mute Hannah from seeing her post before uploading it.
The caption mentioned that she had taken a trip home and that she was tired. However, anyone who was a little smarter would’ve noticed the underlying message of her post—that she had brought Ian home to meet her parents. Cindy locked her phone and put it away after posting the picture. She shut her eyes to get a quick nap. Ian noticed Cindy taking a picture and uploading it onto Facebook, but he didn’t pay much attention to it.
Cindy didn’t have many friends on Facebook, but there were a few people she worked with who had added her. She knew that those people were certainly going to notice her post after she uploaded it, and she was prepared for their responses.
After resting on the airport seats for a while, the staff announced that it was time for them to board the plane. The couple pulled their luggage over to pass the security check, and they settled into their seats on the plane before turning their phones off.
Right before he turned his phone off, Ian stared at his screen and froze for a moment. Cindy had noticed what he was doing, but she shifted in her seat while pretending not to notice his actions. Resting against the seat, she turned her head to look out of the window. At the same time, Ian curled his lips into a smile before he glanced at Cindy from the corner of his eye. He turned his phone off after that.
Neither of them talked much during the trip back. Although they purchased business class tickets, it was still tiring to sit for such long hours. They felt restless after sitting in the same spot for three hours. A while after their flight departed, Ian reached for Cindy’s hand and slipped his hand into hers.
Cindy didn’t sleep on the way back, but they both didn’t talk much to each other. The atmosphere wasn’t awkward despite the silence—both of them were just too drained to talk to one another. Ian only parted his lips to speak as the plane prepared to land. “Once we get home, we should find a date for our engagement. Judging from what Hazel said, it seems like we don’t have to host a ceremony there. It should be just enough to have the engagement here.”
Cindy had been thinking about ways to tell Ian about this, and she was shocked when she heard that he had already sensed Hazel’s intentions all along. “Yeah. My family doesn’t really do celebrations, so we don’t have to waste our effort on them. If our extended family and friends come, they may think that they have to bring some valuable offerings. It’d be a tricky situation—it’d be wrong to tell them to come, but it’d also be wrong to not receive their gifts.”
She wasn’t sure if Ian believed what she said, but she saw him nodding in response. “I don’t think my identity allows me to plan anything too grand. Why don’t we just get some of our friends and family together for a meal? That’ll be our engagement party. What do you think?”
Cindy had no requirements for her engagement—she didn’t even see it as necessary. She would much rather get married immediately. “We’ll go with your plan,” she uttered while nodding.
He smiled. “My plan says that we should just make our marriage official. Would you be okay with that?”
She wasn’t the least bit embarrassed. “If I say that I’m okay with that, would you get too shocked to give me a response?”
He raised an eyebrow. “Are you looking down on me?”
“I’d never dare to do that,” she replied. Ian let out a hearty laugh before he continued speaking. “There’s no rush. You can answer me once you’re done thinking,” he stated.
She curled her lips into a smirk as she looked at him. It seems like he isn’t going to give in at all. The couple stared at each other for a long while. The other passengers had already started getting out of the plane after it landed.
Ian pulled Cindy out of her seat. “Come on. Let’s go home and continue with this pointless topic.” Once they got out of the plane and called a cab home, they found Aurora waiting for them with a table full of dishes.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
