Chapter 1962
Chapter 1962
The driver had been with Ian and Cindy for long enough to be comfortable around them, and there were times when he spoke without a filter.
Ian, however, did not entertain him with a response and merely retracted his gaze, focusing instead on the script before him as he ran the lines through his head.
It was a Sunday tomorrow, which meant Cindy could spend the night with him instead of going home. At the thought of this, Ian cheered up considerably, and it only spurred him on to do better at work.
Meanwhile, Cindy didn’t wake up until it was way past noon, and she was so hungry that her stomach grumbled in protest. She found herself completely drained of energy.
Struggling to sit up in bed, she looked around blearily and suddenly remembered that she was in Ian’s hotel room. Her entire body was so sore that she winced with each movement; it felt like she had been set on fire, and the ache was burned into her bones.
Exasperated, she sighed and saw no point in cursing now that Ian, the damned culprit, was not around to suffer her wrath.
However, there was one thing she had made sure of: Ian had been honest and entirely loyal throughout his absence from home. He had not done anything that he ought to feel sorry for. Otherwise, he couldn’t possibly have hungered for her and ravished her mercilessly the way he had earlier.
Cindy had not brought a spare change of clothes, so she settled for a quick shower and wrapped herself in a fluffy towel. There was a washing machine that came with the room. Tossing her clothes into it, she waited until the full cycle was done before taking them out and throwing them into the
tumble dryer.
She couldn’t very well leave without her clothes, and she couldn’t order room service either while wrapped in only a towel. As such, she reached for her phone, but her fingers had only clasped around it when Ian called. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
Hastily putting him through, she barked grumpily, “What?”
Conversely, Ian sounded reinvigorated as he quipped, “Are you awake? Call for room service. You haven’t taken a bite of food during lunch.”
She huffed indignantly. “Oh, have you recovered your humanity and realized that I starved through lunch?”
Immediately knowing that she was accusing him of being too rough with her earlier, he pursed his lips, then lowered his voice as he explained, “Come on, you couldn’t possibly have asked me to rein it in when it comes to stuff like that. Besides, you seemed pretty into it as well. You were far too enthusiastic for any half-hearted effort on my part.”
She scoffed, not wanting to dwell on this nonsense anymore. He’s getting more and more shameless each day! She merely grumbled about how famished she was and that she had tossed her clothes into the wash and was now wrapped in only a towel, so she couldn’t call for room service at all.
After a pause, Ian offered, “Why don’t you wait for me? I’ll take a break from work and send over some food for you personally.”
She was stunned by this. She had only wanted to rant, but she didn’t think he would take it so seriously
and offer to send her food.
He was still considered a new rising star, and he needed to make a good impression on set. If he were to take a break now for personal reasons, he might rub the crew members wrong, which would, in turn, hurt his career in the long run.
Just as Cindy was about to turn down his offer, he hung up the phone.
She clutched it tightly for a moment, then smiled good-naturedly. If he is so concerned about me now, then my worries before were all for nothing. At least I still have a special enough place in his heart for him to go to such lengths for me.
After a while, Ian showed up at the hotel room with carrier bags in tow, which he set down on the console by the doorway after he came in. He eyed her humorously as soon as he saw her and smiled. “Come here and have your lunch.”
No longer in the mood to bring up how he had tortured her in bed, she gazed at him worriedly and asked, “Are you sure it’s fine for you to take a break to be here? Won’t the director be angry?”
Ian shrugged it off, seemingly nonchalant as he said, “They’re shooting scenes for the other actors, and it’ll take a while before I’m on again. I might as well come back here and see you, but I can’t stay for long. In fact, I need to get going now, so take your food.”
She nodded hastily. “Okay, you should definitely get going, then.”
Before he left, he turned to look at her meaningfully. “Hey, since you’re not going to work tomorrow, stay here for the night.”
She paused and blinked at him in hesitation, then finally nodded. Upon getting her agreement, Ian beamed and left the room.
Cindy opened up the takeout containers and ate her meal happily. When she had finally recovered her energy, her clothes were fully dried. Having put them on, she walked out of the room.
