Nine months too late: After divorce

"You shameless opportunist!" Natalic yelled, her hands itching to strike her in the face. If it wasn't for the fact that they were in the eyes of others, she'd have probably done it.

"What do you stand to achieve, huh? Were you so infatuated with your cousin's fiance that you broke them apart? How could

be so evil? The apple surely doesn't fall far from the tree, does it?"

Sylvie kept her eyes glued to the floor, her checks flushed from embarrassment and her chest threatening to explode from all the emotions warring within.

They'd gotten Galen to the hospital but the doctors were still working on him, so there was no report yet.

Sylvie could understand why the drama affected him this much. He'd really liked Lex and favorited June because of her engagement with him, and now, he just got insulted by his suppose-to-be son in-law.

"I'll make you pay for this," June's mother grounded. "Mark my words; I won't let you get off with hurting my daughter. You'll pay for this."

June was seated and had been quiet. Her eyes were red and swollen from her tears, and her silence unnerved Sylvie even more.

God, she never wanted this.

She stood there, her hands fisted beside her as she took in every word they unleashed on her. Maybe she deserved it.

"If anything happens to my husband, just know that you're dead. Natalie gritted. "Dead."

When she couldn't take any more, she turned and ran down the hospital's passage in tears, ignoring their hurtful words that still followed her behind.

"You only have ten minutes, sir," the nurse said in a voice that echoed with worry, glancing at the time on her phone. Machai smiled while Kage was already making his way into the room. "You have nothing to worry about, pretty. We'll be right on time." The nurse still looked scared and worried as she turned and left, leaving the patient in the room to his fate.

Machai entered the room with the third member-Zack-and.met Kage who was already standing before the patient's bed. He'd been impatient from the start of the journey. The patient-a young, pale-looking man with healing wounds, bandages and an oxygen pipe beneath his nostrils-stirred awake when he heard movements in the room. His eyes

flew wide in panic when he found the three men standing before him. If he had to look any paler, he might actually be a ghost.

Machai offered a cold smile. "Hi, there. How're we doing now? You seem surprised."

Panting, the man looked to the door, hoping to find a nurse or doctor, but there was none.

"How can you... How can you be here?" He shuddered.

Quickly, he tried clicking on the intercom button to request help, but before his frail hands could get to it, Kage yanked it away from his reach.

<

"That won't be necessary" Kage said, delivering the words in his asual frosty tone.

"And just incase you're wondering how we're able to get access in here despite not being family-heaven forbid that you're actually my family-it was quite easy, thanks to Kage." The third member said, pointing at Kage like he was making an introduction. "You should see how everyone was dying to do the guy a favour He clicked his tongue. "I was a bit jealous, you know?"

Kage was done with the games. "You know why we're here. Where is it?"

The patient looked like he could pass out any minute.

"Please...!" He panted. "I-I don't have it with me anymore. You have to believe me."

"Who does?"

"I don't know! I-I swear! It isn't with me anymore!"

While Machai and Zack expressed their displeasure, Kage remained collected.

"Is that so?" He calmly said, moving his hand to the patient's waist where a bandage was plastered.

He pressed his finger into the healing wound, and an ugly cry ripped from the man's throat.

"Doctor!" He called for help.

Machai couldn't suppress his laugh.

When Kage was satisfied with the pressure he'd inserted on the wound, he withdrew his hand, his face still the same like the man wasn't whimpering before him.

"Who does?" He repeated the last question.

The patient whimpered but said nothing.

Zack spoke up. "If you think by some lame luck that someone will come to save you, you're greatly mistaken. For ten minutes, we have you all to ourselves, but here's the unresting part-ten minutes is enough time to kill you."

"I'm telling the truth! I don't know anything! Please...."

Kage found a new spot on his chest, pressing into it and earning a more painful cry.Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

"Stop it!"

But Kage's expression didn't even change as he continued hurting the fresh wound.

"I'll tell you! Please...!" The patient choked out.

Kage withdrew his hand, the other stuck in his trouser pocket.

The way he remained calm despite everything was amusing to the others.

When the man managed to subside his whimpers, he let off the truth. "It was delivered to Galen Cheng. After I took it and handed it to my boss, my boss realized it wasn't safe keeping it with him as every one of you were looking for it. So, he had it given to Mr. Cheng in the guise of some documents, but Mr. Cheng doesn't even know he has something that important. He thinks it's just a regular flashdrive amongst others, he has no idea there's something that serious in there."

Kage saw red, his jaw clenching.

о

"What the fuck!?" Zack grimaced. "You had it handed over to Galen freaking Cheng? That old man is crazy!"

"I didn't give it to him myself! The patient defended. "Please, it was all Parker's decision, not mine. Please!"

Kage gritted his teeth so bad, they might have cracked if they'd been made by glass. The thought of Sylvie's grandfather being in possession of something that vital made him lose all sense of reasoning.
