Chapter 13 by Lorelei Thunder
Trudy completely distorted the truth and pushed all the blame on Woody as she told Pamela what happened.
Dickson added, “Woody spent four years in prison. It’s no surprise that he’s become violent after spending time in prison, right?”
Pamela felt extremely torn.
She still couldn’t believe that Woody would do something like this. At the same time, she felt really bad for her mother and brother.
Still, it was wrong for anyone to resort to violence, especially when they had caused the other party such severe injuries.
“That’s enough. I’ll call him now and ask for an explanation.”
Pamela walked out of the ward and dialed Woody’s number. When the line got through, Pamela asked, “Was it you who injured my mom and my brother?”
“If that’s how you want to put it, then sure.”
Pamela could feel her anger flare up.
“Woody, I had a grain of doubt about this. I figured there must be a valid explanation for this incident. Yet, you’re not even trying to explain yourself.
“My family was right. You’re just an awful, hopeless man!”
Woody let out a soft chuckle. “Don’t those words sound familiar to you?”
Pamela paused briefly as she seemed to recall something.
His final remarks did sound familiar. Those were the exact words Pamela had said to him right outside the prison’s entrance. Now, she was hearing those very words from Woody’s mouth instead.
There was a certain irony in the situation. How could Pamela call Woody an awful man after having done what she did in the first place?
When she had snapped out of her reverie, Pamela realized Woody had hung up.
Woody had nothing much to say to her after all.
Pamela said through clenched teeth, ” Woody, this isn’t the end of things. I swear I’ll make you pay for this!”
Then, she returned to the ward with a dark expression on her face.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
As soon as Trudy saw Pamela, she asked, “What did he say? He must’ve denied everything, right? Pamela, you mustn’t believe his words…”
“He admitted it,” Pamela replied monotonously.
Trudy paused for a few seconds and said, “Well, at least he knew there was no use trying to lie to you. By the way, weren’t you on a date with Mr. Donnel? Did you forget about your date with him?
“That would be bad! Brutus and I have been severely wounded, but this isn’t as important as your dates with Mr. Donnel! You marrying into the rich No, your happiness matters the most!”
“It’s not like that. We’ve decided to call off the date at the last minute.” Pamela made up an excuse.
In truth, Pamela started feeling gloomy after she dropped by the prison. Eventually, she called Kurt to call off their date since she was not in the mood for it.
Back at Mason’s ward, Kevin had completed the bone marrow biopsy procedure.
He had chosen to do it on one of the vertebrae. Kevin postulated that the poison had ended up there and affected the patient’s central nervous system. Therefore, Mason had slipped into a coma.
“Send the samples for a toxicology analysis.”
Kevin smiled mockingly as he took a glance in Woody’s direction. He couldn’t wait to see Woody’s embarrassed face once they had the test results. All of Woody’s lies would be exposed by then.
Suddenly, one of the equipment’s alarms went off. A doctor standing next to the machine called out, “This is bad. The patient’s heart rate and blood pressure are dropping!”
Beep …
A flat line appeared on the heart rate monitor before Kevin could even react.
“How is this possible?” Kevin said frantically.
Sweat beaded Dwayne’s forehead.
He knew more than anyone else about Mason’s status and background. If Mason were to die like this, Dwayne was sure that Mason’s men would wreck the entire hospital.
“Should we give him an adrenaline injection or use a defibrillator on him? You need to tell us now, Kevin!”
However, Kevin stood rooted to the spot. He was at a loss for what to do as this was the first time he had encountered a situation like this.
Helen was gripped by a feeling of panic. She got down on her knees before Woody the next instant. “Mr. Henderson, please save my father!”
