Oops, I’ve Been Exposed

Chapter 34 by Lorelei Thunder

Shane ignored his daughter’s protests as he took out his phone. He said, ” That’s exactly why I need help from my old classmate.”

“It’s okay, Shane. Actually, I-“Woody had barely gotten a word out when Shane interrupted him.

“Don’t worry about it. It’s only normal for people to be wild in their youth. The important thing is that you’ve turned over a new leaf. As long as you’re willing to work hard, no one will look down on you.”

Woody wanted to say that with his current capabilities and wealth, he didn’t have to go to work at all. The consultation fees he received for one session were way more than what office workers earned in their whole lives. It simply wasn’t necessary for Woody to work a nine-to-five.

“Alright then, it’s settled. Just listen to me. You’ve only recently been released from jail, so you can’t count on anyone yet. I have to be responsible for you!”Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.

Shane had a stern look on his face as he said firmly, “Remember, you have to succeed in life so that the people who looked down on you won’t be able to say a word when you do!”

Woody hesitated to speak. Shane and his family had sacrificed a lot for him. If he rejected Shane outright, he would be dismissing Shane’s good intentions.

Woody wondered if Helenova Ventures had something to do with Helen. It couldn’t be. Helen’s family was running Cartwright Group, after all. It was probably just a coincidence.

Sasha, who was already upset enough, became even angrier upon hearing Shane’s words. After the meal was ready, she only had a few careless bites. She simply didn’t have the appetite, so she made up a random excuse and left.

After the meal, Woody gave Mindy a massage as promised. As he did so, Mindy praised Woody, saying, “Shane, this is simply magical! My waist and my legs don’t hurt anymore!”

For the past two years, her waist and leg had been in severe pain. Sometimes, she would even wake up in the middle of the night because of it.

“See? I wasn’t lying, right? And Sasha didn’t believe me! For once, she’s wrong,” Shane said, smiling.

Mindy said, “I’ll clear out the small bedroom for Woody to stay in, then.”

“Sure. Ever since Sasha moved out, we’ve only used her room as a storage area. Let’s clear it out right now,” Shane suggested.

Woody hastily said, “Please, you don’t have to go through that trouble.”

“It’s no trouble at all. If you don’t stay here, where will you go? Is our house too shabby for you?”

Woody hurriedly explained, “That’s not it. I’ve already found a place to stay. A friend of mine… asked me to stay with her. You don’t have to go through the trouble.”

“Really?” Shane was a little doubtful. He thought that Woody was making up an excuse.

Woody said earnestly, “Really!”

Just then, someone kicked open the gate of the yard. A few tall, well-built men barged in ferociously.

“Where is that Evans dude? How dare you trick me? You promised to sign the contract, but you stood me up! Do you have a death wish?”

A bald man, who was over six feet tall and had multiple tattoos on his neck, walked in looking extremely furious. He spoke gruffly, like an unrefined pirate.

Shane’s expression turned tense as he hastily got up and said, “I’m sorry, Mr. Jett. It’s all my fault. I didn’t call you in time to explain my situation. I’m not borrowing the money anymore.”

Roman was a loan shark who had lent Shane money before. He had a group of men working for him, and he earned lots of dirty money by being a loan shark. Just a few years ago, he had destroyed the lives of almost a hundred families.

“Who the hell do you think you are, changing your mind just like that?” Pointing accusingly at Shane, Roman said, “And you call yourself a lecturer! You don’t keep your word, yet you expect to teach students well? Have you no shame?”

Shane turned red as he begged for mercy. “You know that I have brain problems and that I keep forgetting things. Mr. Jett, please have mercy and let an old man like me off the hook.”
