Chapter 48 by Lorelei Thunder
It was only then that Woody saw Pamela sitting there. Frowning, he turned around to leave. He didn’t like being in public, anyway. If the event tonight wasn’t a charity event, he wouldn’t even have attended it.
Since they had sworn to have nothing to do with each other when they got divorced, of course, Woody didn’t want to be involved with Pamela at all.
Kurt thought that Woody was leaving because he was being a coward, so Kurt reached out to stop him. “What’s the matter? Are you feeling guilty because you were exposed in public? Don’t you know where you are? This isn’t a place where you can come and go as you please!”
Kurt’s real intention was to convince the Cartwrights that Woody was a scammer. He wouldn’t let Woody escape just like that.
“I never thought you’d become someone like this, Woody. You were violent, and you even tricked others and told lies. Aren’t these the things you despise the most?” Pamela’s words were like a sharp dagger that pierced Woody’s heart without mercy.
“In the end, you’ve turned into the person you hate the most. I’m disappointed in you. I feel ashamed to be seen with you!”
Woody had already calmed down, so he didn’t react despite the accusations. He refused to indulge anyone at all.
Shoving Kurt away, Woody sat on the golden chair as he said, “Is that so? Then I insist on sitting here. If you’re upset, just leave.”
Pamela was speechless. Woody had never talked back to her before. She couldn’t believe that he was now telling her to get off his back.
Kurt staggered from the force. He was enraged. “Stand up and get off this chair right now, you hear me? You’re just a former prisoner, and you think you deserve to sit here? Know your place!”
Pamela put on an extremely disappointed expression. “Woody, you shouldn’t sit here. Don’t do things you’ll regret just because it makes you feel good in the moment.
“This is the Cartwrights’ territory, and Ms. Cartwright makes the rules here. Your bold attitude might get you places in prison, but you’ll only be at a disadvantage if you behave like that here!”
Instead of getting up, Woody leisurely crossed his legs. “Helen asked me to sit here.”
Kurt laughed loudly. “You should think before you boast! We all know how esteemed Ms. Cartwright and the Cartwrights are. She wouldn’t even spare a glance at a useless guy like you!”
Even if the Cartwrights respected Woody in the past, as soon as Woody’s true identity was exposed, any special treatment that he received would stop. Kurt was sure of that.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“You’re still not leaving, huh? Let’s see how shameless you can be!”
Kurt sat right next to Woody, preparing himself to argue with Woody further. He believed that he was eloquent enough to destroy Woody.
Just then, an angry voice erupted. “Get out! You’re sitting on Ms. Helen’s seat!
“It was Clement!
After showing Woody his seat, Clement had turned to leave. However, he hadn’t walked too far when he heard the sounds of an argument behind him, so he hurried back.
Kurt was elated. He turned to Woody and said, “Hear that, you mutt? Clement isn’t someone you can afford to mess with. If you don’t get lost right now, you’ll be sorry!”
“I’m talking about you!” Clement pointed at Kurt angrily as he threatened, “If you keep talking to Mr. Henderson like that, I’ll kill you!”
“Huh?” Kurt was stunned. He never thought that Clement would still be so respectful to Woody even after his identity was exposed.
