Chapter 409
Chapter 409:
Khloe’s question was simple, but it struck Henrik like a thunderbolt. “He was the one who hired someone to run you over. I was just…” Henrik began, trying to explain and stay calm. However, his eyes betrayed a hint of panic. The man who had radiated authority and dominance like the king of hell just moments ago now stood before Khloe like a stray dog caught in the rain. He looked pitiful and vulnerable.
Henrik couldn’t continue. It was only now that he realized how important Khloe was to him. If she couldn’t accept him because of this and decided to leave, he couldn’t imagine the consequences.
“You are killing someone.” Khloe’s voice was calm. So calm that it was a bit eerie. She walked toward Henrik step by step, ignoring the blood under her feet. As she stepped on the blood, her pristine white slippers were instantly stained crimson. She stopped in front of him.
Khloe looked up, her cold, unyielding eyes locking onto Henrik’s. He met her gaze, his usual composure replaced by uneasiness. The murderous intent in his eyes slowly faded, his long eyelashes casting shadows over his cheeks.
At this moment, there was only one thing in Henrik’s mind. If Khloe’s disdain for his bloodthirsty side drove her away, he would ensure she couldn’t escape him, no matter the cost.
With that thought, the uneasiness in Henrik’s heart dissipated. He looked Khloe in the eye, smiling mysteriously. Finally, he replied, “Yes, I am. Do you dislike it?”
“Yes.”noveldrama
Khloe’s straightforward answer made his expression turn cold and fierce. His eyes burned with a dangerous mix of anger and frustration. However, she didn’t show any signs of fear at all.
Khloe was a medical practitioner, dedicated to saving lives. She should despise someone like Henrik, who caused bloody slaughter. But only she knew that when she stepped into the room and saw him hiding in the dark, she felt a dull pain in her heart.

Did Henrik know how he looked every time he killed someone? There was no trace of excitement or thrill on his face. Instead, there was only a deep-seated revulsion.
Actually, Henrik also hated this act. But it had become his instinctive way of dealing with threats.
Khloe’s heart and mind were at odds. She hated violence and killing the most, so she should have detested Henrik. That was what her mind told her. But, in contrast, her heart felt a pang of sympathy for him.
As she looked at Henrik, she finally recognized the tangled mess of emotions in her chest. She had fallen in love with him.
“Okay.” The smile on Henrik’s face remained unchanged. His eyes, however, lacked any warmth. He slowly raised his hand and gently touched Khloe’s neck. “It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have let you see this. It smells awful here; you should leave first. I’ll clean this up and join you.” As he spoke, his hand subtly pressed against a vital point on her neck. A slight pressure from his finger could knock her unconscious, and then, he would never let her leave him again.
Khloe sighed deeply. Without thinking twice, she reached out and grabbed Henrik’s other hand that hung by his side, holding it gently in her palm. “Your mistake isn’t letting me see this. It’s that you can’t see your true feelings. Doesn’t it hurt to clench your fist so tightly?”
As she spoke, Khloe pried open Henrik’s fingers, revealing his bloody palm. His nails had dug into his flesh, strained with blood.
Henrik’s eyes lingered on his palm, his brows furrowing. He was surprised, realizing he had subconsciously clenched his fist too tightly since Khloe had entered.
He hadn’t noticed that, but Khloe had.
