Chapter 845
It was late and well past dinner time in Pittsbrew, yet there was still no sign of
Nadine or Sean. Brad stood alone outside the hotel entrance, leaning against his
car door, with cigarette butts scattered at his feet.
Earlier that afternoon, Nadine had gotten into Sebastian's car with Sean. Hours
had passed, and they still hadn't returned. He wasn't worried about anything
happening between Nadine and Sebastian, especially with Sean there. But his
heart felt hollow and restless, as if something vital to his survival was missing.
He couldn't stop thinking about Nadine. His thoughts were consumed by her. He
wasn't expecting much, just a simple gesture from her—a text message, perhaps,
or even a phone call.
But alas, he had waited from dawn to dusk and now well into the night, with no
word from her. He hadn't even caught a glimpse of her or Sean since the
afternoon.
That feeling gnawed at him. He couldn't stop thinking about Nadine, and the
uncertainty was driving him wild. He felt as if his heart was being dipped in ice-
cold water, then suddenly thrust into flame. It was unbearable.
As time dragged on, his patience wore thin. Frustrated, he lit a cigarette and
called Alex. "Help me out here!"
...
Meanwhile, Alex was lounging with two scantily clad women, one on each arm. If
it weren't for their bras, their breasts would have spilled out.
Women in their line of work were sharp and perceptive. They knew that this man
had to be rich and powerful, someone worth latching onto for a lifetime of comfort.
Unfortunately, he kept sipping his drink without even sparing them a glance. Even
though he had his arms around them, he was the perfect gentleman, only resting
his arm on their shoulders.
However, his behavior only made the women like him more. They pressed their
bodies closer to him, eager to catch his eye.
Alex hadn't had much to drink, so he
was still sober. When he saw Brad's
name flashing on his phone, he
pushed the busty woman who was
clinging to him away and rose from
his seat, leaving the private room.
He found a quiet spot at the end of
the hallway before answering.noveldrama
"Well, well, you're actually asking me for help? What's going on? Did Nadine
upset you again? Oh, this is going to be fun! Go on, tell me what she did this time.
I'm looking forward to a good laugh!"
It was a rare opportunity to watch Brad make a fool of himself. Alex lived for
moments like this, reveling in his friend's misfortune.
Brad could hear the sarcasm in Alex's voice. He pinched his brows and—
suppressing his anger—growled, "I'm asking you for advice, not for you to make
fun of me!"
He was so worked up that he could feel blisters forming on his gums. Even the
slightest touch made them throb with sharp pain, adding to the unease already
gnawing at his mind.
"Alex, if you're going to laugh at my
expense, don't blame me for cutting
you off. His situation was beyond
frustrating, yet Alex still wanted to
make fun of him. This wasn't what
friendship was supposed to be like.
Alex could tell from Brad's tone that he was furious. He stopped joking around,
wiped the smile off his face, and put on a solemn expression.
"Alright, alright. What's going on? If
you don't tell me, how am I
supposed to know what happened
and give you advice? But if this is
about Nadine pissing you off again,
I'd suggest you leave her alone. After
all, you two are divorced."
What do you think?
