Chapter 247: Why Should I Trust You?
Chapter 247: Why Should I Trust You?
The following day was Friday. Benjamin took the job of picking up and dropping off Stella over from Hayden when they were eating breakfast.
“Just consider it as me paying the rent for staying here. I’m afraid that I might have to stay with you for a while.”
Hayden handed the bowl of porridge to him. “You can rely on me for the rest of your life if you want. After all, it was me who hit you. You helped me a lot. So, stay here in peace and continue to investigate the matter of your identity when you are free.”
When they talked about the matter of his identity, Hayden asked him, “By the way, how is your progress of checking the schools in Higher Education Mega Centre? How many are left for you to check?”
Hayden froze for a moment and looked down to hide the gloom in his eyes, “There aren’t many left. Just five or six schools left. Two of the schools are normal universities. So, it’s easier to check.”
“Then I’ll go with you if I have time during this weekend.”
“No need. I can go there alone. You can just do your stuff.”
Benjamin lifted his head. His expression returned to normal.
Seeing Benjamin who insisted to go alone, Hayden didn’t say anything more, but he still had some worries in her mind.
In fact, she had asked Joseph to help her investigate Benjamin’s identity before. By rights, as long as the Public Security Bureau got Benjamin’s photo and fingerprint information, his identity could be found in the database.
But then she broke up with Joseph and didn’t mention it again.
After they had breakfast, Benjamin sent Stella to her kindergarten. As the tender was imminent, the deadline set by Joann Group was this afternoon, so Hayden had no time to go with them and she went straight to the company.
“Ms. Downey, this is the revised tender. Please read it.”
In the office, Campbell Cook, who was the manager of the administration department handed the final version of the tender document to Hayden for her to sign.
Hayden read it carefully and confirmed that there was nothing wrong with it. Then, she signed and handed it to Campbell, “Okay, that’s it. You can send the tender to Joann Group directly afterwards.”
“Okay.” Campbell replied to her quickly, “By the way, you said you wanted to have someone keep an eye on Joann Group. Have you found the person yet?”
“Yes, I’ve found someone.”
Hayden nodded her head.
Campbell looked at Hayden’s expression and asked her cautiously, “Who is the person? Is the person from our company?”
“No, it’s someone professional.” Hayden sketched on the document and glanced at Campbell inadvertently, “Don’t worry about this matter. Just get the tender done and deal with the feedback from Joann Group on time.”
Campbell averted his eyes and said shyly.
“Yes, I know.”
After Campbell left, Hayden glanced at the door.
It wasn’t that she was suspicious, but Green Lemon Clothing Co. Ltd was a new company that was at a critical stage in its development and she must try her best to pass through this stage. If she had trusted someone wrongly and something wrong happened, then she would suffer from a big loss.
…
At Blue Castle Bilingual Kindergarten…
After Joseph dropped Noah off at the door, he had to wait for Stella at the door with Noah because Noah refused to go into the kindergarten on his own.
It was almost nine o’clock when Stella arrived at the kindergarten late.
“Why is it you? Where is Hayden?” After seeing the person who came to drop Stella off at the kindergarten, Joseph’s expression suddenly changed.
“Does Mr. Beckham mean that I can’t be the one who drops Stella off?”
Benjamin looked at Joseph with a wry smile, “Moreover, haven’t you and Hayden already broken up? Don’t call her like you have a close relationship with her. Otherwise, others may misunderstand your relationship and it won’t be good for the two kids at school.”
“This has nothing to do with you, right?”
Joseph’s expression turned serious, “When you left the hotel without saying goodbye earlier, I thought I had to go to the police station to report the case. I scared that you were taken away by the neurology hospital for a consultation, but now it seems like I have to ask someone to re-check you in the neurology hospital again, right?”
“No need.” Benjamin looked at him. An imposing smile appeared on his youthful face, “I’m staying at Hayden’s house now, and I’m living quite well. Thanks for your kindness.”
Hearing his words, Joseph’s face turned pale.
After seeing Stella entering the kindergarten, Benjamin had no time to talk more with Joseph and was about to leave when Joseph’s deep cold voice came from his back, “Are you Benjamin, who studied the reconnaissance and anti-reconnaissance course in People's Public Security University of China and was Grade 17 now?”
Benjamin was stunned and he slowly turned around to look at Joseph who was looking at him coldly.
“I think you know your identity by looking at your expression. In that case, why do you hide the truth from everyone? Why do you pretend to be an amnesiac to gain sympathy and keep staying with Hayden?”
“Why?” Benjamin smiled contemptuously. “I am not like you. I don’t have a purpose for everything. What if I say that I simply just like Hayden, so I’m happy to stay by her side?”
“In a way that deceives her about your identity?” Joseph’s expression became colder. “I think the police station is more suitable for you to stay.”
“With you being watched every minute of your entire day now, do you think sending me to the police station will do you any good?” Benjamin was calm as he said his words.
“If I were you, I would let me stay by Hayden’s side. Firstly, it’s to protect her safety. Secondly, you can entrust me to help you find out what Franklin, who stole your position as the president of the company, is doing secretly. It is so weird that he can let the performance of the company skyrocket in less than a month after becoming the president.”
Hearing his words, Joseph’s expression became more serious.
He had already known that Benjamin was not an ordinary man. When he first investigated his status as a student in People's Public Security University of China, he knew that the man was extremely meticulous after seeing the information which showed that he was a recommended graduate and looking at his school projects.
Magnus went to People's Public Security University of China and asked about Benjamin. The professor of the school commented that “Benjamin is a once-in-a-century genius in reconnaissance and anti- reconnaissance. If his talent is used in the right way, he will be an important person in the criminal investigation sector, on the contrary, he will leave the whole criminal investigation sector helpless.”
It’s reasonable that the professor gave such a highly complementary remark to him.
Benjamin was once the first one to apprehend the suspect in a crime-solving competition organized by People's Public Security University of China in conjunction with the Special Criminal Investigation Forces. He was perfect in the whole process to create another crime that was good enough to let himself escape unharmed.
He was punished because of doing this mock crime. However, he was also qualified as a student for successive undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs of study directly.
“Why should I trust you?” Joseph stared at Benjamin’s eyes, trying to find even a hint that he was stalling or fooling him. Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
However, Benjamin smiled relaxingly.
“You can also choose not to trust me, but you have to know that just hiding my identity from Hayden would not make me be sentenced to jail, instead, Hayden may think that you are making a fuss.”
Hearing his words, Joseph looked angry.
After a long time, he asked Benjamin with a cold face.
“You just said that Hayden would be in danger. Why did you say that?”
“I think you know your cousin, Franklin much better than me right? He’s the kind of person who will do anything to get what he wants. If he’s driven up the wall, no one can know that what he will do.”
Benjamin’s tone turned serious.
“I don’t care about your family’s infighting. However, if it involves Hayden, I will not turn a blind eye to it.”
