Pursuing My Ex Wife in Full Blooming Spring

Chapter 32

Charles brought Naomi to the hospital where a doctor diagnosed her with an inflammatory reaction. to the burn and admitted her for observation.

The doctor who dressed Naomi’s wound mentioned that there was a likelihood of her developing at fever as a complication of her burn and warned Charles to take her to the nearest hospital if she ran a

Tever.

Unfortunately, Naomi’s situation warranted hospitalization for IV fluids and observation.

Charles signed the admission papers, then popped out to buy some necessities for Naomi’s stay. It was already noon by the time he returned.

Naomi was still sound asleep, with a nurse keeping watch on her nearby. Even after the fluid infusion was finished, Naomi was yet to wake up from her deep slumber.

Charles noticed that her hair was covered in sweat from her fever, so he went into the bathroom with towel and a small basin. He emerged a few moments later with a basinful of water, which he soaked the towel in and wrung dry, then proceeded to gently dab at Naomi’s face.

He was so gentle that Naomi did not even stir. His eyes were fixated intently on Naomi with every move. After he cleaned her face, he moved on to help her clean her arm, but he paused when he saw the bandage around her arm. Then, he turned to the nurse and said, “I think you should be the one to do this. I’ll be outside if you need me.”

The nurse nodded. “Will do, sir.‘

With that, Charles placed the towel back into the basin and was about to leave the room when something occurred to him. he froze and turned to the nurse. “Never mind. I think you should go out and buy some clothes for her–everything, including inner garments.”

He took out a stack of bills from his pocket and handed them to her. “Is this enough?”

The nurse gaped at the stack of cash. There were about a thousand dollars in there! “It’s more than enough.”

Charles nodded. “Good. Go on then, and don’t skimp on the clothes. Get her the best you can find. I’ll wait for you here.”

“Yes, sir.”

The nurse left the room. Charles sat down in a chair next to Naomi’s bed. He stared at her for a long time. He was not sure if it was due to extreme exhaustion or because of the medication that the doctors gave her, but Naomi looked so sound asleep and not at all like she was ill.

Charles smiled at this. This was not his first time watching Naomi sleep.

Some time ago, Sean and Amelia got into a terrible fight which resulted in them giving each other the silent treatment for a long time. finally, Sean could not take it anymore and managed to convince

Naomi to bring Amelia out on a trip where he could expedite his reconciliation. At that time, Naomi agreed and did as Sean said. Charles was the one who drove that day, with Naomi in the front passenger seat. For some reason, she fell asleep not long after their departure.

Charles still remembered the way she looked. She looked so serene and calm when she slept, as though nothing in this world could bother her.

Charles placed his hand against Naomi’s forehead. She was still running at a slight temperature, she improved significantly.

Charles was relieved by this, but-

His gaze landed on her arm. A few moments later, he took out his phone and stepped out of the room.

“Hello, Professor.”

“Yes, Charles? How may I help you?”

“I’m sorry this came at such late notice, but someone important to me has fallen sick and requires my help in taking care of her. I need to take a few days off to look after her.”

“That’s fine, Charles. Don’t worry about it; just take as much time as you need.”

“I’m sorry for troubling you.”

“It’s no trouble at all.”

Charles hung up the phone. After some contemplation, he dialed Sean’s number and asked, “Do you happen to know any doctors who specialize in burns?”

“Burns? Who got burnt?”

“Naomi.”

“What the hell? What happened?”

“I’ll tell you about it later. Just help me ask around for any doctors who specialize in burns.”

“No need to ask around; I know two of the best burn surgeons around. Scott’s aunt is the head of the hospital with the best burn unit in town, and Scott’s cousin Jasper also just happens to be a doctor.”

Charles was rendered speechless by this. Of course, he knew that Scott’s aunt and cousin would be able to help, but unfortunately.

“Oh, never mind. Sorry. I didn’t realize.” Sean finally realized his mistake. Since Naomi left Willowstown the moment she got divorced from Scott, it was clear that she wanted to get as far away from him as possible, so it would not make sense for them to seek help from the Lawsons.

“How serious is her injury?”

“Pretty serious.” Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Give me some time. I’ll call you back in a bit.”

“Okay, thanks. Be quick.”

“I will.” Sean was very curious to learn what happened to Naomi, but he knew better than to probe. He could tell that Charles was extremely worried about Naomi now, and he did not dare to irritate

Charles at such a time.

Charles returned to the room and continued to sit by Naomi’s bedside. Images of their shared memories emerged in Charles‘ mind as he stared at Naomi’s peaceful face.

Without him realizing it, Naomi invaded every corner of his mind until he could not go a day without thinking of her. 1
